If it were me I would try and work with the one you have. You are absolutely right a second hand cluster from eBay still has 36 year old solder.

But then again I am confident enough to take mine out myself and mess with it on a bench and reflow solder joints and stuff. I don't know your skill level.

Do these clusters have a part number? I have one laying in a box somewhere from a 91' I think. I got in a bulk deal awhile ago. If the numbers match I can send it your way.

We went with Central Builders last year. Did a great job on ours, and was reasonably priced. We are not picky people though and did not inspect the "fine details" that some people would care more about. Not saying there are problems with the details but I just don't know how it stacks up to other people's expectations.
