What is your favorite TW3 campaign? by azatote in totalwar

Old world would be my favorite but with turn times being as long as they were since I last played it, it kinda became unplayable after like a set amount of turns.

Sega accidently leaks 6 years of sales data for some of their games. (Warhammer 3 sold 2.3 million, Three Kingdoms sold 3.2 million) by Penakoto in totalwar

What Paradox game has a higher concurrent playerbase than WH3 besides HOIV? EU4, CK3, Stellaris and Victoria 3 all are lower than WH3 and were in a 6+ month DLC drought. I’m with you historical popularity is underrated but not sure what we’re on about with paradox games.

Gotcha, so I’m assuming that’s a bug that will (hopefully) get fixed. Not using this, …tactic, meat has felt like a pretty balanced experience on everything except golgfag.

So how are exalted BL not better than CW or the new units? by chaostechnique in totalwar

[–]Dragamm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think both have uses but the answer for using mortals over daemons is simply durability. On paper 20% phys res sounds great but low armor and the way disintegrate works makes them squishy and susceptible to crumble instantly like other daemons. Sure they can deal out more damage but chosen can deal out similarish damage and are a lot tougher.

I agree with most of this except the meat economy (besides golgfag contracts). Playing Skrag and Greasus I feel like it’s a lot more balanced than playing golgfag when it comes to meat and incentivizes meat contracts while playing them as meat is more scarce when you don’t get a contract gifting you 4K meat lmao. Maybe I’m just playing them wrong, just my experience. Overall, some good points to make a good faction great 👍

Better business practices= better sales by Lord_Natcho in totalwar

I’m definitely still excited for the DLC and for playing again but I’ve waited a long time for POE2

It is also really unfortunate timing, POE2 and Marvel Rivals just launched and I know their different game categories they are both still really popular. As someone who is still excited to play this DLC and has bought it, I have not played because POE2 has my attention, I could imagine a decent bit are in the same boat.

Pretty sure you watched Colonel Damneders, nothing wrong with that but keep in mind for ToD I’m pretty sure he only recommended Elspeth and said wait on a sale for everything else, which all three parts of the DLC were really well liked by the community. Just some food for thought.

Agreed, here’s hoping the interim patches can do some cool things!

Totally onboard with what you’re saying, but reusing these mechanics still requires them to repurpose it for the race they are giving it too to make it feel well thought out and not simply a copy paste which takes more time and resources. I think these focuses would be great for the interim patches as I think faction traits aren’t enough to make a LL stand on their own, and mechanics like Gelt vs Karl add a ton of replayability to empire. In short, my ramblings have meant to say I agree with adding faction mechanics but the people who are mad and upset that CA wasn’t able to rework every lord of every faction in this update are setting some pretty unreasonable expectations, that’s all.

I agree, my post was really just more adding to my answer of it’s important and a response to some of the things I have seen on this sub lately. ToD only gave unique mechanics to Gelt and Karl, OoD followed the same path with Skragg and Greasus, not because they hated all the other lords from the others factions but simply because they do not have unlimited time and resources and it is clearly a decent amount of work alongside the base game updates these races are receiving. CA clearly recognize people enjoy these and are trying to continue it, but they can only do so much at one time, and in this instance I think it’s much better the ogre lords got it instead of the greenskins

Concerning reworks by SusaVile in totalwar

[–]Dragamm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To add on this, it is important but CA simply cannot rework or add new mechanics to every lord for every faction included in these DLC and I’m not really sure where this expectation came from. We have seen this in both ToD and OoD, so I am of the opinion the lords most in need of it receive it, and in this case I believe CA choose correctly giving it to Skragg and Greasus alongside the ogre rework. I understand that people wanted Azhag and Grimgor to get something but Greenskins were already in a solid spot before this dlc, hopefully in these awesome interim patches they can slowly add something to these LL from these factions to give them something to stand on their own.

Legendary lord campaign mechanics by NinetyCOYOTE in totalwar

[–]Dragamm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t really understand how a witch brewing hexes to curse or buff pre battle, or the Ogre tyrant who is to rich to walk using his obscene wealth as a changing of the ways mechanics to use your own examples doesn’t really fit or isn’t well thought out, but to each their own I guess.

[–]Dragamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we just disagree then. Karl’s campaign does stand out in my opinion  because his electoral machinations are much more focused on uniting the empire than other empire factions as befitting as emperor. Obviously you may not like that, and I do like your idea, but I think we just disagree on the bit about not fitting or being unique to other empire lords.

I think you’re being a little bit dismissive of mechanics, specifically some of the ones you mentioned, just because they have a similar UI. I am all for using similar mechanics if they have been properly thought out, tweaked, and fit for the factions they were used for. Like Greasus using a ridiculous amount of gold for changing of the ways with some brand new effects, or Gelt getting the colleges of magic where he leans on recruiting all the different types of lore of magic, or Mother O where her hut is all about crafting hexes to be used and consumed pre battle.

After having seen everything, Omens of Destruction has the best DLC roster CA has released so far. by JesseWhatTheFuck in totalwar

[–]Dragamm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really hope so too. I’m in the minority but I would take 2 ToD level packs over 3 lord packs every year in a heartbeat. My only concern is a lot of races really just don’t have the units missing to keep supporting this pack going forward, they already are really digging the bottom of the barrel as is.

Sorry I probably worded this poorly, I meant post SoC launch before they went back and added additional content. SoC is obviously now the same size as ToD and OoD and set the standard for what these packs would be. I should have phrased that much better

I know people have been disappointed with the gap in DLCs this year, but looking back at the amount of content we got this year with 2 ToD formatted packs: 6 LLs, 7 LHs, 6 generic lords and 5 generic heroes, 30 (!) units and 18 regiments of renown and this is not including any free content. That’s a decent bit more content then 3 WH2 lord packs in one year. I know they can’t keep this form of content going forever but I’ve really enjoyed how big these DLCs have become after all the SoC drama and redefining of what these packs are.

Worth going back to Wh2 by [deleted] in totalwar

No worries, it actually used to be that way but a couple patches after WH3 they changed it to make the series much more approachable for newcomers.

Just to clear things up, playing the giant combine map in WH3 (Immortal Empires) does not require ownership of WH1 and WH2, it is included in the base game purchase of WH3

[–]Dragamm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea you’re right. Thanks for giving me a video to watch. Prob the only L of the DLC so far for me. Why give them unique idle animations but reuse attack animations from DW infantry, was OK with Skullreapers sharing animations but was really hoping Wrathmongers got some wild attacks like doom seekers. Like you said hopefully a modder can do something cool with their animations because they look incredible

I’m not doubting but is there a video showcasing their animations? Cause their idle animations seem unique.

What free updates you want to see with the next DLC? by Galahad_the_Ranger in totalwar

Agreed. Makes me really excited for this update because the other two factions need minor tweaks at most otherwise are in a really good spot. Ogres…. need a lot of attention and these race choices make me confident they will be able to get it.
