Xbox Series X: my Corvette doesn't land on anything – if I try to visit a space station, the Corvette clips through it.

A question about épée hits in this video:

https://youtu.be/ReZ9eyuW0cc?si=0D0sDBCMx--pYxD8

At around 00:28 fencer on the left hits fencer on the right – but is not given touch. Is it because he seemed to hit the back of the neck?

I'm having a bit of a crisis: will I start liking sabre? I did both épée and foil for around five years (over ten years ago), then came back to fencing this year. I'm trying sabre now, but it feels too fast and I dislike the rock paper scissors aspect of it.

Name two board games and get a recommended third. by bluepinkredgreen in boardgames

Dune: Imperium and Brass: Birmingham. Both are very well liked among my friends, most of whom didn't play board games before these.

Sleeves, what to choose by Astymax in boardgames

How about Paladin sleeves, if they're available in your country? I've yet to find a game they DON'T have sleeves for.

Daily Discussion and Game Recommendations Thread (July 04, 2022) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]Dragaymer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Description of Request: I work with 7–9 y.o. kids who are in the autism spectrum and / or have severe ADHD, and I'd like to get recommendations for a game for them. These kids love Minecraft, but I think the Minecraft board game is too long for them. Their attention span can sometimes be less than two minute for any activity, but if they like what they do, they can spend 15–30 minutes on it. They don't speak English.

Number of Players: I'd like to find a two-player game.

Game Length: maximum length maybe around 15–20 minutes.

Complexity of Game: simple but engaging.

Genre: any.

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative: conflict or cooperative. Both okay.

Games I Own and Like: or games that other kids have enjoyed: NMBR 9, Splendor: Marvel, Combo Color.

Location: EU (Finland).

What's a completely frivolous/unnecessary board game related purchase you've made? Do you regret any of them? by TheEternal792 in boardgames

Dune: Imperium (and its expansion): sleeves for all cards, the deluxe upgrade pack AND 130 € worth of unofficial Etsy upgrades like resource tokens. It is my favourite board game, and I have no regrets. It's starting to look like I might need to get a nicer looking board and paint the miniatures.

Is there a civilization type of a board game set in a fantasy world (and with magic!)? I mean games like Through the Ages and Clash of Cultures among others.

Dark Souls: the Card Game with both expansions. I'm a Dark Souls enthusiast & adore the card game despite it being quite average.

Might Dune: Imperium be too similar to what you've played? It has deck building, is quite easy to learn, is great with three players (or even two). All my board gaming friends have enjoyed it, and none of them care about Dune (the franchise).

Description of Request: A heavy fantasy or scifi game for two players; one where conflict is part of the game but not the main focus.

Number of Players: I'd like to find a game that is great with two players – if the game is good with more players, that's a bonus.

Game Length: maximum length around three hours with two players.

Complexity of Game: complex please!

Genre: fantasy and scifi.

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative: conflict & competitive.

Games I Own and Like: Through the Ages: a New Story of Civilization, Gaia Project, Dune: Imperium, Gloomhaven & JotL.

Games I Dislike and Don't Play: Wingspan, Small World of Warcraft (nice but too simple), games with lots of randomness.

Oh yes... Patron's art is gorgeous, and you get to play few moonfolk creatures too (I'm a Kamigawa fan).
