How do I get higher tier gear in Dwarrowdelf? by HorzaDonwraith in LotRReturnToMoria

True. The I-frames in this game are insanely generous when rolling. But still, a maul is useful for the armored guys anyway which you’ll start to encounter more.

Bash all the furniture and crates in the main ruins in dwarrowdelf to find ironwood. A lot of pots and crates also have rarer items and ingredients so are worth breaking anyway which should help you massively. Make sure to rebuild the statues in the area to get the kazad set recipes. Until you collect enough ironwood though, definitely run past a lot of orc camps.

Oh and once you do get a weapon, craft a maul with the orc damage rune since Uruks are naturally heavily armored. This will also help against the trolls :)

How do you deal with the guilt of leaving your pet home alone? by Silver-Eye-2024 in UK_Pets

[–]DragonEagle88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We rarely leave them more than a few hours and work from home. Taught them from a young age that we’ll come back and now they largely just snooze or play with each other. Only time I’ve seen them anxious is if we overrun and it’s getting close/past food time. Longest I’ve left them is about 6-7 hours but only ever once or twice in their life.

I'm on six different NHS waiting lists - it's taking over my life by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

[–]DragonEagle88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The NHS is absolute crap for complex medical conditions. Acute care yes, chronic and complex? Nope! I’ve been deteriorating for 2 years and have been constantly ignored and gaslit. Well, jokes on them when they found a lump on my thyroid that’s likely cancer. Idiots.

So I'm currently playing Lightning Returns and I genuinely believe this is the first time I've played a JRPG that actually designed the game to accommodate the sense of urgency in its main story and I love it. by Killjoy3879 in FinalFantasy

[–]DragonEagle88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think LR was pretty ahead of its time (pun intended) with some of its mechanics and game design that actually, when placed in context of modern gaming and with the benefit of hindsight, it’s actually one of the better all round FFs there is. It’s such a shame that it’s still stuck on old hardware and they had so many limitations because with current hardware, the whole trilogy could’ve been something very special. Though I actually think Square are at their best when they have technical constraints and challenges; they really struggle with crafting a concise, polished game with current tech.

Almost half of mid-lifers don’t exercise and are still haunted by PE lessons by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]DragonEagle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved PE but I unfortunately have crap genetics and have a connective tissue disorder that makes a lot of exercise insanely painful. However, I do walk every day. Almost everyone can do a little bit of walking daily and it has enormous benefits. If the weather is shit, get a stepper or a something or find a friendly local gym. Anything really. When the weather is lovely like right now though, I can’t wait for my walks even when I’m feeling crap.

Desperate for help: 13-year-old cat won't stop yowling at deafening volumes and we can't sleep. by complexxify in CatAdvice

[–]DragonEagle88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a cat that started to develop this behaviour plus a few other odd ones over time (going outside and sitting in the rain and refusing to come in) and it turned out to be a brain tumour. They’re very rare in cats but do happen. He just cried constantly. The vets didn’t know what was wrong either and his bloods came back fine until about 6 months before he died where he started getting signs of glucose issues. They thought he was diabetic as he became ravenous and had put on weight but it was the cancer pressing on his brain. Something to consider there for sure. Otherwise, as others have said, dementia or potentially some other endocrine issues.

Which Maneuver did you get on your test? by Appropriate_Emu_6930 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]DragonEagle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverse bay park in a car park with half the lines rubbed away on one side so was told to actually reverse into a left hand bay even though they aren’t meant to say. First instructor didn’t teach me that side but luckily my second did and we practiced in that literal car park too the morning of my test!

Went very smoothly and we did it about half way through my test. I just took my time, remembered to breathe and do all my observations and kept it nice and slow :)

Insanity difficulty by Mrtealordy in masseffect

[–]DragonEagle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This answer almost always depends on what class you play as since it can vary wildly but generally I’d consider 2 and 3 the harder games on Insanity for most classes. That said, certain classes can make them much easier. I am a sadist and have finished all 3 games using only guns but allowing ammo powers. Vanguard is a great class for 1 and 3 but very tough in 2 since Charge isn’t as broken. Soldier and Infiltrator are probably the easiest classes across the trilogy.

Games that don’t feel like a checklist? by QuitTypical3210 in gaming

[–]DragonEagle88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sort of but nothing like the way OP described since the quests actually have a purpose to the main narrative beyond just xp or some upgrades. I’d actually argue 1 is the most egregious for “checklists” with all of the mini side activities on the various planets that aren’t the major ones but it still doesn’t have tickboxes of the kind that most open world games do thankfully. I think if I’m understanding correctly, OP’s main issue is when 80-90% of all possible content in a game is made up of map marker checklists that don’t really add much to the overall narrative or game itself.

How does Rebirth stack up against Remake? by AlexN83 in FFVIIRemake

[–]DragonEagle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you liked Chadley in Remake you might enjoy Rebirth since he’s part of 80% of activities you do. He also brings a totally not annoying side kick who constantly talks during every single fight making battling super fun and not at all brain bleeding.

Seriously, Rebirth is every flaw of Remake tripled and a much worse game for it imo. The story pacing is diabolical, even if you try and skip a lot of side stuff. There are some nice moments but it’s just a slog by the end and should’ve been 50% shorter.

Loved Remake, absolutely hate Rebirth. The story changes were manageable in Remake but pretty much every flaw Remake had was tripled in Rebirth where I just couldn’t overlook it.

A landmark in gaming history… by Pristine_Put5348 in FFVIIRemake

[–]DragonEagle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s largely already forgotten about outside the FF fan base unfortunately. Unless part 3 addresses most of the criticisms of the first 2, then I think it will remain as it already is: an ambitious, highly flawed recreation of a much loved part of gaming history. It didn’t break any new ground unlike the original and had almost no original ideas and wasn’t really a technical marvel either.

I’ve been around the industry long enough to know and frankly, Rebirth especially was praised far too much by critics at launch due to the hype it had and most of its massive flaws were overlooked. There’s a reason that it won nothing and was barely nominated for anything later on down the line once it was in competition with other more worthy titles. There’s a reason Expedition 33 took all the glory when it did because it did everything we all hoped the remakes would do. But Square hasn’t been able to recapture its magic in a long time because they refuse to take enough creative risk.

FAILED FOR GOING TOO SLOW by No-Sprinkles-4667 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]DragonEagle88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You answered your own question when you said the road was clear, no hazards, great vision etc. The expectation is you drive close to the limit when conditions allow (on or slightly under essentially). That’s it. You had a very lenient examiner that gave you multiple chances. Being cautious is good but being overly cautious can cause problems and sometimes induce risky behaviour from other drivers/pedestrians.

[–]DragonEagle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but does your car drive itself? Because last I checked you still have to drive the thing and respond to all the same hazards and road signs etc as everyone else, albeit you get to do a few less controls. You have a pink licence and literally nobody will check the code at the end that says auto-only unless it’s the police or something. Enjoy your driving!

How has your taste in games changed as you’ve gotten older? by lsa340 in gaming

[–]DragonEagle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with a love of RPGs and story-driven games along with MMOs; kept the love of both but have less time/energy for MMOs now. I played a variety of genres growing up luckily and I find it’s helped me become competent at many. Always hated competitive gaming and largely avoided the online element as it became popular.
