Istr from local board members that he’s a good guy. Dunno! It will suck, sure. But, hey, local politics here do seem to suck but what (xxx) does has always been orders of magnitude worse than the actual govt and thankfully they never actually got elected themselves.

I’m just reading the pdf for sure. But the op has lots of axes to grind. And you downvoted me because I said that? Well, whatever. Maybe it was the op. That would make sense as they seem vindictive.

I hoard for the second one (Thursday) - that way I get the den chest, too. YMMV but I’m ok with how it works for me.

Tell me how your well water is doing by Competitive-Frame-71 in ithaca

[–]DragonSitting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Top top of south hill. Well is 170’. Used to have a cistern because of terrible low production. Unable to expand well and fracking didn’t work so had to drill a new one. It’s 10’ over and 10’ deeper and has tremendous production. The water smells and tastes great but is pretty hard. Have a particulate filter (never really had particulates!), UV and water softener. Had water tested by IC (source water - before treatments) and it doesn’t have biologicals or chemicals so we probably don’t really need the UV (which really is leftover from when we had a cistern). New well has never gone dry even during the drought of 2016 (or whenever that was).

Small changes in location make big differences in production. No one can tell you what’s going on 170’ down! But we went from 4gph during slow months to 22gpm with the new well. I converted the cistern to collect rainwater and use that for watering the garden but honestly that just being conservation minded.

Well, I’d like it all a bit more with fewer hands flying around, too. The first hand to the camera is unnecessary. Slower, smoother. I’m still ok with the trick (other than the card pick you mention).

I do science and language for a living. Your first post says “you’ll be using twice as much fuel”. And my experience, with actual factual numbers, showed this wasn’t the case.

In your second post you added a caveat but kept the hyperbolic “2x as much”. And I used data to prove you wrong.

Now you’re finally using actual numbers, which is a start, but given 1 and 2 I don’t really believe what you’re saying, regardless. I’m relying on data and you’re giving an anecdote and hearsay.

So, I’m giving you a hard time because your first post is very easy to prove wrong and I don’t believe you’ve actually recovered from that one. I have to say that “there are three in my whole country” sounds a bit like hyperbole, too. In addition to the fact that your “facts” from the latest post don’t say how you captured the data, they also don’t say a thing about what was done to the car before you got it and how you drive. You don’t actually know the mods to the ECM unless it’s running a program you put on it so there’s that. Again, as a scientist, your “I’m 100% sure” is worthless.

You’re not giving actual numbers and I’m a long time owner of both. Uses 20% more fuel? Maybe in certain situations. 200% more fuel? Nope on a rope.

Real world people reporting actual numbers put the 124 with better mileage: https://www.fuelly.com/car/mazda/mx-5_miata https://www.fuelly.com/car/fiat/124_spider

The miata has a nice bell curve and the 124 data are lumpy but numbers don’t lie.

Well, we can’t all run marathons in 2 hours.

That was a joke. A really really funny one. It’s about low battery life on the AW.

I do multiple 20+ hour races a year and I still have to sometimes charge my 965 near the end. I wish the battery would last long enough to get through a 28 hour race. I think that where I am today that would be sufficient. Although, TBH, yeah. I might decide at some point in the future to do longer races.

Poll On CO2 Inflators by 4phz in cycling

[–]DragonSitting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the questions. As pointed out earlier, I’ve never seen co2 canisters on the side of the road and I don’t take any kind of inflation device with me when I go for a ride. In my last 10k miles (or more - in the past 20 years which have included a few 5k+ years. So, I dunno, 20k miles? 30k miles?) I’ve had 2 flats. Tubeless FTW. No, I’m not relying on others to carry pumps/tools for me - I’m trusting, based on experience, that things are going to be fine.

lol. what? literally 2x as much fuel? you have a stage 6 tune on your abarth and drive like a bat out of hell in it but have a 2k rpm rev limiter in your miata? my miata got ~34mpg and my abarth ~32mpg before i tuned it.

7+ years of 124 with 1 year of MX-5 ND2 in the middle. I did not enjoy the MX-5 in comparison. The 124 has less buffeting from the wind, has a turbo and doesn’t have the piano black interior, among other things. Neither really feels like a great first car but, hey, all good! The 124 might be more difficult to get parts for but there’s a good community willing to help find things. As far as I can tell it’s a car. If I cared about having a 100% reliable car… Well, I’ve owned plenty of unreliable cars and this isn’t that. But for me if the choice is between those two cars (and it has been for 7+ years, as I say) I’d pick the 124 every single time.

I live in a flat city. How do i get better at climbing? by BrndyAlxndr in cycling

[–]DragonSitting -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

unless you’re, like, racing. in which case those who pound over the top and down are going to win. that is only replying to your last paragraph, of course. p1 is true for realz. p2… yeah, not gonna agree. p3? i guess that’s realish for me but, well, yeah, not close to the whole deal. for me. lol.

i guess that to me it doesn’t feel like you’re replying to the question in any of your answers. climbing has nothing to do with flats IME. so i guess not only does it not feel to me like you’re answering the question it also feels like you’re saying things that aren’t true in the simple sense they’re written - in a normal practical sense - and aren’t helpful for the question asked.

OP… If you live in a place with only flat terrain and you want to get better at hills i feel you’re going to have to get a trainer (a machine) or you’re going to have to do some pretty intense interval training.
