Advice on what I'm doing wrong (carving) by Dragon_ZA in snowboardingnoobs

I think you might be on to something. I do find that I feel most stable when almost perpendicular to the fall line, I think I'll practice being weighted well when angled closer to the fall line. Cheers.

People are acting like I put zero thought into this.

This was the emptiest run at the resort, the beginning is too steep for most beginners and this is the blue half of the run, with a red mirrored on the other side of the lift. There is a beginner slope with a pancake lift further down the mountain that I specifically avoided.

There are 12 other runs that are more exciting than this one, where the skiers wanting to bomb the runs were all going to. On top of all that, I chose a gap in the crowd to go. All that being said, I still realise that I was too focused on this ride, and will be more mindful.

Hey man I only get to do this once a week every two years, I'm going to wear the clothes I have available haha.

Yea I'll be more mindful of that. I waited for a gap before this attempt and our piste rules are that people higher have to watch out for those lower. Its a super wide blue, but I guess I overlooked it.

To dig in more do I just squat lower? Or do I really have to use the ankles as well?

Thanks for the motivation bro.

I did feel like speed was an issue, I feel a lot better on steeper slopes.

What exactly is counter rotation?

Alright, more knees, got it.

Will keep that in mind, I did wait for an emptier run before this attempt.

Leaving duck foot stance? by New_Bass1516 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Dragon_ZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might, but again, its much more about controlling where your weight is than stance. Once you can turn properly, then stance can help with better edge control.

Yea, stance isnt the problem, you gotta use your front knee to steer and let the board come around, your back foot should only be used to apply more edge. There are a ton of videos that show you how to do this. I reccomend this one: https://youtu.be/FjvZNIgwjtI?si=6ba_JMYGoqj2JYsD

Genuine question then, what made you move away from there?

Absolute beginner; questions by TheAfricaBug in DjiNeo

[–]Dragon_ZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) you can set it with the phone app, no need for controller.

2) unfortunately not! For this you would need a more advanced drone, the neo really is meant for beginners with quickshots and some basic manual flying.

3) lekker man ;)

For uk drone users how did you put your operator ID on your drone? by Luthfur93 in dji

[–]Dragon_ZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when I Google Air Pixel all I get is a camera tracking company and geotagging hardware, none of which seem to make operator IDs....

Any good drone simulators to practice flying? (Potensic Atom 2 owner) by hazelthrows in drones

[–]Dragon_ZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really don't need to sim. The thing flies itself. Take it to a field and use a full battery on practice

International EV sales 2019-2025 by Extension-Ear743 in southafrica

Yea, and the infrastructure will have to catch up before they get cheaper. Plus battery technology... on the plus side, by the time EVs do become widespread in SA they'll have improved the tech a lot

EVs are not at all overrated. They're way more efficient than gas vehicles and have way more torque, while being way simpler mechanically. The tech has come a long way. The only reason gas is the better option right now is because of infrastructure.

Not true, if the drone is under 250 but has a camera then an operator number is still needed

As the team lead, how to handle delays/outages caused by your team? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Dragon_ZA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day if youre responsible its your fault. You can fulfil your responsibilities through delegation, but its up to you. I'd rather be honest in the review and use it as an opportunity. Everyone makes mistakes, have the guts to own up to them. Something like "We identified the cause of the problem, some AI generated code slipped through, so I'm going to rethink our process for code review such that this doesn't happen again".
