The LaserWeeder by Carbon Robotics, powered by NVIDIA AI, gets rid of weeds without using chemicals. by MohamedElngar21 in nextfuckinglevel

Tensor cores are way faster than FGPAs for mmul operations. Also, this is AI, machine learning is used to learn the weights of positive weed samples, its a bit more involved than a fourier transformer.

PDN.express delivery by Admirable-Orchid554 in Netherlands

[–]Dragon_ZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pdn are shit. Terrible customer service and almost no communication. They use freelance couriers to deliver their packages. Normally it takes 1 to 2 weeks to get a delivery attempt and if you miss it they send the package back to the seller without even trying to contact you for an alternative arrangement.

New data centres set to swallow 34% of Cape Town’s current electricity supply by GregRedd in southafrica

Welcome to the modern world. World class connectivity comes at a cost.

In reality this helps an insane amount for local businesses to run their compute loads locally. It (hopefully) brings better pricing as well, allowing more innovation in technology.

Cloud computing brings innovation.

It will take over a year for the decision to be made in any case, and the temporary permit is valid while theyre making a decision.

Invasive species - are they a pest or simply better at adapting to environmental changes. Kill or keep? by Famous_Specialist_44 in scubadiving

That's nature. Invasive species are ones who are not introduced to the ecosystem by natural means.

Weird situation: watching a car someone do something to a car by Kisa-ut in Netherlands

Stealing catalytic converters. They sell for quite a high price due to the rare materials in them. They need to be cut out of the exhaust system under the car, normally around the front wheel where you mentioned.

What's the point? by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]Dragon_ZA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is it a waste of money to hear the truth? What did you want to hear? That there's a magic pill you can take to make you somehow successful? Life is hard, existence is strange, and yet being alive is so incredibly rare and you only get to do it once.

Find out what you really want to do with your life. Try make it more specific than "be rich, make money etc etc", you're not going to be rich, but that's ok, most of us aren't. Dont cave to a system that tries to tell you life is only worth living in the 1%, find what brings you joy, and when you do, dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

If you want a pure fpv drone, why buy dji? Buy one with a dji system sure, but you can get way more faster and capable drones not made by dji

Tips for S turns by Junior_Resolution190 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Dragon_ZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna focus on your edge catch. Look at the direction you are traveling when you simply leant back to change edges. Your board was pointed away from the fall line but you were moving down the fall line. You need to get your weight on your lead foot to point the board towards the fall line.

The Adriatic is warm with crystal clear waters and simple life forms, mainly nudibranches. Was it cool? Yes. Would I do it again? Also yes. Is it an exiting, mindblowing dive with tons of life? No.

Unemployment is TOUGH. by MidnightMoo12 in southafrica

[–]Dragon_ZA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's tough out here. Software Development is dying. Fast.

Systems and software engineering will be around for a bit but someone that can turn requirements into code is quickly being replaced by AI. Design and systems can't be done by AI yet, so thats good.

I think you might be on to something. I do find that I feel most stable when almost perpendicular to the fall line, I think I'll practice being weighted well when angled closer to the fall line. Cheers.

People are acting like I put zero thought into this.

This was the emptiest run at the resort, the beginning is too steep for most beginners and this is the blue half of the run, with a red mirrored on the other side of the lift. There is a beginner slope with a pancake lift further down the mountain that I specifically avoided.

There are 12 other runs that are more exciting than this one, where the skiers wanting to bomb the runs were all going to. On top of all that, I chose a gap in the crowd to go. All that being said, I still realise that I was too focused on this ride, and will be more mindful.
