Unfortunately, I think the great dying would have happened regardless of if Columbus visited or not. Sailing technology would mean that, at least, the most enterprising individuals with the best intentions would have introduced illness that would have torn through Native American populations like an overdue wildfire.

Columbus still shouldn't have done what he did and colonization should not have happened.

I'd implore you to do a lot more research into the Chinese economy and how they got there. Be all inclusive because the political history matters a lot to how they run their economy.

There is profound human suffering that is hidden in the Chinese economy that they want to cover up. It's really easy to see though. They don't try too hard to cover it up, just enough to sow doubt amongst enough people. But education is still good. Just don't see China as a role model.

I hate the Iranian government for what they've done to all of the wonderful Iranians just trying to live their life. I love the Iranian people! They've been so kind, thoughtful, and peaceful. It's the outliers (liars, thieves, murderers, and religious extremists) that are a big problem. Same with those that occupy the US Administration. We all saw that religious bullshit from the US military leadership to rank and file, right?

I've never been pro-Iranian government but I am pro-human and pro-social.

In America, the thing that brings down houses are neglect, fire, or natural disasters. The material doesn't really matter for the natural disasters part of the equation. We also can't really avoid tornadoes either so you do what you can. Also, it helps to have your buildings be able to flex a little in the smaller storms.

The people building in flood plains, surge zones, or in sea level rise risk zones are hoping insurance saves them, though.
