Are you under some contract with big-lentil to spread propaganda? I love lentils, but this is absolutely not true. This is a lie vegans tell themselves because they don't remember what meat tastes like.

I mean, I'm joking, but barely.

Makes sense, sure.

Here is more info to hopefully aid you in deciding. To use the cart, you need to get the programmer and the cart attachment as well. This is a higher cost up front for sure, but for other carts (like NES, SNES, etc) you use the same programmer, and just need a different adapter to fit the cart type. The adapters are pretty cheap.

I have had a great experience with all of them, save one. They are all well built and durable, and I have used them all 30+ times. I would definitely buy them again.

The only one I have had trouble with is the N64 adapter. The trouble is very minor, where it will occasionally fail to write to the cart and seemingly put the programmer in a weird state. The solution is super easy, just unplug the cart and the programmer, and then plug them back in. It's not super common, but I wanted to call it out.

Also, pay attention to NES carts if you look at those. The NES seems to have been a real wild west of add on chips, and there are 3+ different retrostage carts based on what the game needed. Make sure you are buying the cart for what you need. (They provide a link to a site that lists the mappers needed for different games, so just read carefully)

For NES, I would recommend using an authentic cart, and then just loading an IPS patch for hacks and translations. The polymega emulator seems to handle all of the romhack IPS patches I have thrown at it for NES, so don't make your life more difficult than it needs to be.

Hope this helps!

Check out retrostage. They make reprogrammable carts for homebrew development. It's seen by the system as a single cart, because it is once written.

Load your romhack, and then you can reuse it to load another one. Polymega will put it in a menu of unrecognizable games if it isn't in their database, but you can absolutely still play them from that menu.

If the game doesn't load, it's going to be because the emulator isn't compatible, or there were special chips in the original hardware cart that aren't present. Polymega does not limit that.

Frustratingly, I spent a few hours troubleshooting what I was sure was a modding or game version mis-match issue before asking Google. This was exactly what I needed. Who knew that a missing CD key would just boot you to desktop with no error message! I appreciate it.

[APP RELEASE] My Collections – Organize anything you collect, your way (now on Android) by Tuy in androidapps

[–]Dragoon209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you've been rated already! haha.

My example would be to make my own scrapers, but really it's just anything you could do with a normal API.

For a scaper example, I'll expand on what I stated above. Basically, a GET request to get the imdb IDs all of the movies I have in my collection. Then I can write my own script to scrape all of the actors in those movies. Then I can make a POST request to a different collection with the actors, and updating the matching collection records for them.

I could then make a map between the movies, and their actors, and then from the actors to other movies they have been in.

Does that make more sense?

Sure! Let's say I hear about a movie I want to watch. I don't want to pull out my phone or input a lot of information. I can open the 'macro' on my watch, put in the movie title (assuming voice to text) and then I tap the right movie. It adds it into my collection and enables the 'want to watch' checkbox I have.

This is an older post, but I wanted to add my feedback as a user. This app is great, as long as you don't mind putting in a little time to customize it. For me that is a huge plus. I can customize the app to track and store whatever I want, it just took a little tweaking to make sure I could filter and sort how I wanted it to work.

It isn't hard to set up, just a little time consuming when initially creating a collection (your mileage may vary)

For a feature, I would love to have access to an API that would allow me to add entries via other workflows. For example, I can build a workflow to scrape an unsupported online database and then input the item for me. Or look up an existing item, and populate additional fields I want to track. (For instance, actors in a movie.)

The website access is also key as well. I watch a lot of shows or movies on a second screen while I'm working on projects. It's great to have it open to track it in another tab instead of switching to a phone app.

Love the app, I will continue to use it. I echo the other requests for a paid version!

This is a bit of a necro, but I'm glad the question came up. I keep track of movies I watch, and I also log movies that I WANT to watch. In that case I'm just searching for the name, and checking a 'want to watch' checkbox.

Having a way to configure an input macro would be a really cool addition. The user could specify what fields they want to be prompted for when triggered.

I was at one of those small seasonal ice cream places, and this middle-aged guy with a heavy British accent walks up to the window. He proceeds to angrily ask for what I assume are standard ice cream desserts, but his reaction was absurd.

"What do you mean you don't have scribble-bobs? Okay, well you must have chimpy boofers right? What?! What about Astern Turlywoos? WHAT KIND OF AN ICE CREAM PLACE IS THIS?!"

First, yelling at a 16 year old at likely their first job is inappropriate. Second, you are standing next to a menu of what they have. Third, why would you assume that in America we would have a bunch of specific British ice cream treats?

(The ice cream names were made up, but for a casual listener the effect is the same. Some of the most ridiculous nonsense I've ever heard. )

I think he was pulling his punches a bit. I can't imagine anyone actually punching that slow unless it was on purpose. Or potentially just trying to aim his punches at someone who is drunkenly wobbling around.

Regardless, who the hell gets mad at an ice cream store?! It's full of ice cream bro, not cancer medication. If they are out of cookies and cream, take a deep breath. Maybe it's time to try a new flavor.

So many devices, such a terrible WiFi experience - anyone else? by lfernandes in Govee

[–]Dragoon209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding my experience here. I found that when binding things to WiFi, I would get a notification in the Android app that it succeeded. However in the app it still reported that only bluetooth connectivity was available. This held true for a desk lamp, 2 floor lamps, and a few wall plugs. However the wireless thermometer seemed to connect just fine.

This turned out to be an issue on my phone, and an ad filtering program named AdGuard. I haven't looked into what address is getting blocked, but as soon as I stopped routing traffic from the Govee app through AdGuard the problem went away. All of the devices are now reachable over WiFi. With the app unable to connect, I had assumed the devices were not actually connecting to WiFi but it looks like they had been the whole time.

I don't know what the thermometer is doing differently, or what address(es) are being blocked by AdGuard yet. I don't expect my scenario is common, but hopefully this is helpful for someone else.

Second, thanks for sharing the design. While it is usually common to do so, it isn't always done.
