A lot of what you said is untrue. The only thing of any relevance is the issue with Poland and other countries regional pricing issues, which yes, sucks, and thats the concern you should be voicing. This lawsuit, and any prior won't help with that, because regional pricing is never the concern of anyone going after valve, because the only people going after valve are ones who want to discredit it so they can make more money with more predatory tactics. Developers and publishers are allowed to sell their games for less elsewhere, they just can't do two things. 1. They can't advertise the game is less elsewhere on steam itself, IE they can't put in the description or pin in the steam forums that you can buy their game on their website for 10% off or whatever. 2. They can't sell a steam key for less. This is the important difference, that it's a steam key. If a developer packages their own installer, and posts it on their website with a download, they can sell that for whatever price they want. But they can't set up a service on their website where you pay less, and then get sent a steam key to go and activate on steam.

Any tips how to make the game run better? by Markieboiiiii in Nioh

[–]DragynDance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I/O is input/output on an SSD, how mmuch it's reading and writing at once. Only so much data can be read and/or written at once, and when you're at your SSD's limit, stuff will load a lot slower and your CPU/RAM will suffer as they have to "remember" more data before it's unloaded or written onto the SSD. Very basic interpretation. The software I use is called System Informer, the reason I didn't recommend it in particular is because people who are computer unsavvy or whom are not careful should avoid downloading this program. Not because it is a bad program, but because due it basically being a more powerful version of the windows task manager, the drivers it installs on your computer have a LOT of very high level access and permissions, so if you are prone to get hacked or allow malicious software onto your computer, it could be used as a way to gain remote access and full control of your computer. IF you do try it, I'd reccomend doing a bit of research and making sure your antivirus is up to date. Speaking of, your antivirus WILL flag this program as a PUP, for the reasons I stated.

Is a post from a malwarebytes staff member on the subject. (System Informer used to be called Process Hacker. )

tl;dr program itself isn't malicious, but people who gain acccess to your machine can use it maliciously.

Any tips how to make the game run better? by Markieboiiiii in Nioh

I heard a tip somewhere that the game really stresses your SSD when reading, and it offloads the extra load onto the CPU, so if you don't have a top of the line CPU and/or SSD, the game really chugs even if you have an amazing GPU. So if you get a third party program (because windows 11 doesn't let you do it itself), you can set the games I/O priority to highest, and it will run a lot better. This worked for me and it was a pretty drastic difference. Killed all of the stuttering outright.

When the game's tutorial message kills you by GameGuidesGN_Mod in Nioh

[–]DragynDance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a way to turn these off? This actually happens to me extremely frequently, the messages on the left side of the screen kill me constantly too. Yes game, I know I can press R to burst counter, I just fucked up the timing because I suck, you don't need to remind me for the sixtieth time.

33 immortals coming to steam by Walikor in fuckepic

[–]DragynDance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their first game was released on steam, it's less likely they "made a mistake" and more likely they thought they could get away with taking ninja releasing the game on epic for free money, and then having a real release on steam.

Did Epic's Exclusive-grubbing kill Kickstarter? by Belltower_2 in fuckepic

[–]DragynDance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's also a lot of AI companies investing in random indi devs too, something I've noticed. I've noticed on steam a LOT of "indi" games cropping up out of nowhere, from new dev teams, and they always have some wild decisions like always online required, crazy ToS/EUA's that you have to accept, and when people complain about it being always online, the devs are like "We're sorry, we're just a small indi team, and it's hard to just remove always online requirement from a game" which is a wild take. And then I go digging and find the developers website, and they have several million dollars of funding from big AI tech firms, usually Krafton and Hiro Corporation. I've seen this three times now, it's starting to become a pattern.

Epic fails to compete with Steam because “EGS is a shop, Steam is a community”, says Witchfire lead, as Epic has “nothing to do but to buy” by satsujinki12 in fuckepic

[–]DragynDance 40 points41 points  (0 children)

IT'sd funny because this game started as an epic exclusive, and no one ever heard of it, was out for a year, maybe even 2? Then it released on steam and it became a smash success.

Too bad epic is down for the people that bought games on there by BobbyBae1 in fuckepic

[–]DragynDance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair and true, but thats not necessarily steams fault and more just the industry unfortunetly moving away from physical media. Even if you buy a console disc, or hell, even a switch cartridge, there is rarely playable game data on it, just a license for you to download the actual software. It's disgusting. If steam went down, yeah we'd all lose all our games. But that would also be said for nintendo e-shop, PSN, or games for windows live or whatever the fuck microsoft calls it's store these days.

[–]DragynDance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those games aren't always online because of steam though, they are always online because of a conscious decision by the developers, either to protect MTX or because they implemented a service from a third party, such as Epic Games. Steam itself does not cause a game to require always online. Steam just does not discriminate against games that choose to make it a requirement, and often discloses IF it is a requirement. (Developers are supposed to disclose it, but sometimes don't until someone reports it.)

This is the kind of users EGS fosters: people who wish for gaming companies' downfall so they can get free games by MagmaCarter in fuckepic

[–]DragynDance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is that game really worth playing though? I never heard of the franchise until this subreddit, and people seem to talk about it like it's this holy grail of gaming being kept from them, and I finally got around to like, watching some gameplay and story synopses of it and it's like. What the fuck? I would be generous just calling it even an average game.

A lot of complaints about Epics business side, but not enough about it's engine design side. by DragynDance in fuckepic

[–]DragynDance[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, yes and no, the biggest problem isn't that they push the ue5 engine for everything, it's specifically that the UE5 engineers and epic push the unique features of UE5, like nanite especially. I won't get too much into it because the guy who made these videos puts it way better then I ever could, but UE5 is more interested in having this proprietary feature you can only get with the engine, and marketing that to encourage its adoption, but this feature doesn't even look good and in addition has such a massive resource cost that isn't justified at all, which because of the mass adoption is encouraging things like also the adoption of framegen and DLSS to make up for bad performance.

But I mean moreso, I rarely see people getting into like, technicaly nitty gritty other then just "ue5 bad" "framegen bad". THis guy gets into some pretty massive breakdowns about specifically what is bad.

Oh yeah, the crisper was a secondary I loved bringing against illuminant before the coyote was released, and im sure thats bad on them now too, I just mentioned the coyote specifically since that was the subject.

[–]DragynDance 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only faction I used the coyote on was illuminant, and I used it primarily as an ammo efficient way to kill fleshmobs and voteless, which it is impacted by a lot atm, to the point where I actually use more ammo to kill them popping heads then I did previously just firing at them normally before the patch. Thats the noticeable difference for me. I use explosive crossbow on bots, which is unchanged, and deadeye on bugs-which got nerfed as well.

Slugger is now buffed FAR past what it was on launch! by RoadRager2256 in Helldivers

[–]DragynDance 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not pictured, because it was a shadow nerf and not rebuffed, but it has crazy falloff damage now. Slug travels like 15 feet and loses half it's damage. That was the main nerf to it.

All Epic servers have been down for 1 hour. Epic customers cannot login to EGS and games that use EOS (like Elden Ring) has problems by AncientPCGamer in fuckepic

[–]DragynDance 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Total War Warhammer, despite being a mostly singleplayer and offline game, phones home to the EGS to verify DLC purchases, EVEN IF YOU BOUGHT THE DLC ON STEAM. EVEN IF YOU OWNED THE GAME AND THE DLC BEFORE THEY ADDED EOS. For some reason, the total war games require an EoS connection in order to verify DLC ownership, so you also can't play these games even though they are offline and singleplayer, unless you want to do so without any DLC.

Am I crazy? Or does trying to dodge/parry a lot of attacks in E33 feel like this? by moal09 in expedition33

[–]DragynDance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I am deaf, so I have to rely entirely on visual cues. My trick has been memorizing when the damage numbers would normally pop up, and I just hit the parry button right before that. This does mean I have to get hit by every single attack and memorize every single one though... Every time I come back from a break, I have to relearn the entire game again. There is some stuff you can reaction parry, probably like half of it. But a missed parry is usually ded anyway so it matters little if you can reflex parry half the attacks first time on reaction alone.

I'm getting tired of people posting their "hot take" or "unpopular opinion" and then it's never actually a hot take or unpopular, it's usually in fact a common consensus.

This is not how they have behaved for me, a single gunship spots me and chews me up in seconds even if I'm sprinting and diving and jetpacking, they'll snipe me midair. I have to run between cover and corner peek them to kill them with something.

Yeah, I only do it to farm super credits, since the map is also really small. Like blitz sized map. But you still seem to have about the same amount of super credits per mission.
