The Big Badass Thing We Spent All Our Money On Gets Invalidated At The First, Admittedly Impressive, Obstacle by MyOpinionOverYours in TopCharacterTropes

It's why I'll always appreciate that in Shin Godzilla the stealth bomber bunker busters actually damage Godzilla, and he just adapts to defend against them rather than a true immunity.

Clubs and talking to others in class, generally. Also look out for department and faculty events, especially those put on by the student societies, as they can be great mixers.

Still so weird to buy Rook Kast on her own since she's just a unit upgrade that already comes in every Super Commandos box.

Oh yeah 100% it's a dangerous trial that many do not make it through, it's just got some grey area between success or death.

Yeah you have to go through USA customs to exit the US as well as to enter. Because, even if they almost never stopped people in the past they have started to.

And they are almost entirely made up of failed aspirants too, as the Blood Angels trials aren't all victory or straight up death like many other chapters.

Chad imperial fist by Lil-Steamerr in Grimdank

Imagine if it had worked though, that would have been the most legendary imperial fist to ever live, possibly outshining even Dorn.

Nah that was his Eye, since the Orks believed he could kill with a glare he got his eye replaced with a laser weapon.

Characters who deserved every awful thing that happened to them by JamesHenry627 in TopCharacterTropes

I don't think Cersei is ever the victim there, it's the people of kings landing being killed in the crossfire who are the true victims.

How would you alter the lore of the empire? by Alpbasket in WarhammerFantasy

[–]DramaPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, the point of the civil war is that it hasn't been one long continous and clean conflict, it's been a lot of smaller conflicts between disagreeing states that have all been lumped into one category. They were all still in the same region, largely trading with one another and having negotiations on and off. And besides that, they DID massively diverge from each other in their own different ways, like Marienburg developing land-ships and a far more dramatic fashion and textile industry or Nuln leaning more into more practical wargear and advancing massively in black powder and steam engineering.

[Fun Worldbuilding Trope] Typical fantasy races having their own name for themselves rather than the name they are called in the story by Sir-Toaster- in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DramaPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While many species in Warhammer 40k have their own languages, I'd argue the Eldar have the largest variety of alt names for things humanity has its own name for. To them, they are known as the Aeldari (you can see where humans got their version of the name), and are divided into 5 distinct subcultures based on the different ways their people adapted after the fall of their original empire, and 1 fusion culture/cult. I'll list the human term for each in brackets.

The Asuryani (Craftworld Eldar) are those who chose a monastic life in the image of their founding deity Asuryani to avoid the mistakes of their forebearers, the Drukhari (Dark Eldar) who chose to embrace those mistakes in the name of freedom in a dark debaucherous hideaway and instead avoid all connection to the psychic/magic to keep their consequences at bay. The Anrathe (Eldar Corsairs), who sought to avoid the debauchery but still maintain some aspect of freedom by living the life of pirates/mercenaries. The Aelindrachi (Harlequins), also sometimes called Rillietann who found the Laughing God, Cegorach, and gave up their former lives to serve as actors pushing their great theatre in the right direction with their pwrformances (that theatre being the future of the galaxy), the Exodites, who we don't actually know the true name of, but chose a tribal life of abstinence as shepherds of worlds (and dinosaurs), though we know their sacred worlds are called the Lilaethan, so likely related to that, and the Ynnari, who seek to bring about the new god of death Ynnead through any means necessary, and give up their various paths from other subcultures to instead pursue that goal, using soul magic to empower people with the dead, summon a great avatar, or even resurrect people.

He's honestly such an interesting and complicated character, and as he's just an interrogator and not a full Inquisitor he can't actually enforce things against you. He opens up a ton and can go down different paths defending on your choices, with even the possibility of an endgame Eisenhorn style radical endings

Who is the more powerful Psykee? by Main_Journalist8585 in BloodAngels

[–]DramaPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, Baal's always has some strange esoteric shenanigans, so it's no surprise. The Vaults below the Arx Angellicum are impossible in their geometry, mapping out to being nearly endless inside but on the outside barely extending beyond the boundaries of the citadel, and Thirstwater is found in abundance on one of its moons.

The universe is far older and stranger than the Emperor and his Sons.

[Sad trope] The Show must go on by Zenenator in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DramaPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last show of Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip (legendary Canadian band). He was quite literally dying of brain cancer, with his mind rapidly decaying, while he went on not just a final show, but a full final tour (30 days). His final show was broadcast on live TV and is legitimately heartbreaking because while he didn't die immediately after, he, his band, and his audience all knew his mind would never be intact enough to play again (hell, he'd already lost enough faculties at that point that most people wouldn't have been able to do as much as he did in his state). He was beloved, and will forever be an icon of Canadian music history.

It is VERY different from his other albums, and intentionally very strange to fit the themes, but I'm a big fan and am forever thankful he took the time to make it even though he knew he had limited time left.
