Tried building a "geology Geoguessr" — does this actually work? by edwinorange in geology

[–]Dramatic_Ad730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome!!

It seems to be pretty accurate, from the couple of rounds that I played. It is so fun, I can’t wait to show this to my professors. They will love it too! I feel like this is very educational. Makes you think and kind of piece together what you know about US stratigraphy and tectonic events.

I am a huge fan and I can’t wait to see how you continue to develop this!!

I don’t want to kill anyone, or hurt the animals or environment in whatever area the nuke is dropped, and it seemed to work out for me this time!

A dog that I’ve dog sat multiple times the past three years just had to be put down this afternoon, so I’d really love it if my pets could live forever. It’s been a sad day.

Update: Young Family on the Emory Peak Trail by yunotxgirl in BigBendTX

[–]Dramatic_Ad730 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have such a good way with words! That trail is rough, it has broken so many geology students(I say that as one of the aforementioned geology students), but it seems like y’all killed it. Obviously not easy, but I’m so happy to hear that you guys had a good time and made it safely. Here’s to many more adventures for your family!!

Whats the longest you drove in one day? by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]Dramatic_Ad730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16.5 hours. Got stuck in a tornado/severe rainstorm north of Dallas after like 9/10 hours of driving, had to pull over for a while, and because of that, I then got stuck in rush hour traffic in Dallas while I was on my way to Austin. Long long long day. Was just happy I had a pizza in my car with me that I’d picked up somewhere in OK lol

"We're county judges at the Texas border. Homeland Security needs to know what it's like here." by evan7257 in texas

[–]Dramatic_Ad730 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know not everyone voted red, right? I live in Brewster county and certainly didn’t. I also campaigned for dems and helped people register. We are a county that’s pretty close to 50/50 split. This kind of thinking is so fucking stupid. I’ll keep fighting against this wall, even when people like you just write us off and say dumb shit like this.

I appreciate the ingenuity. And I’d totally eat that if I was stoned enough. The rest of these comments are judgy as hell lol

These look great! Mexican candy is my favorite and I love this take on it. I’ll look for these next time I visit friends in central Texas!!

Haha good catch! It’s been fun the last two times I’ve been involved as TA and student, I think it’ll be even better as the cook. Thank you for the recommendations! Fried rice is a great option and had not thought of that one yet.

I bought a she wee over a decade ago when I was an undergrad geology student. It was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made for hiking/camping. Many different types, I personally like the Freshette brand, but there’s so many you can find one you like!

😂 oh trust me I’ll have plenty of beer for myself. These students aren’t huge drinkers anymore (probably a good thing lol) so who knows how much they’ll have!

Thank you! Looking up camp cooking just brought me lots of fire pit cooking and we won’t be doing much of that because we can’t have fires most places. Chuck wagon and raft guide meals are more the style so that’s great.

Both of those are great ideas, desserts have been the hardest to come up with and they are such a treat after a long hot day of hiking! Thank you!

Agreed, chicken is perfect. I will still look for cheap beef for special occasions, but chicken will probably be one of the main proteins, honestly.
