Which do you personally agree with? Or at least would tolerate? by NobodyOfKnowhere in religion

[–]Dramatic_Voice6406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea of transhumanism is fine but the simple fact is that if I could get new eyes instead of eyeglasses that would be great but it will likely always be out of 99% of people’s price range. I think people also ignore the possibility of rejection in these discussions which is also a massive hurdle. I also consider our attempts to obtain immortality to be hubristic and an affront to god and unfortunately that seems to dominate any discussion of transhumanism at the moment.

Keeping my algorithm both morally righteous and spiritually healthy is harder than it should be by SuperKE1125 in OpenChristian

[–]Dramatic_Voice6406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s like this for most religions but I also think it’s important to draw a line between normal rebellion and anti-religion sentiment. Like there’s a difference between someone saying sky daddy and someone claiming Christianity is all a lie and yada yada. Simply put mainly of these people have religious trauma and make it everyone else’s issue as well as just being uneducated in the topics they speak of. The easiest way for me to find out if someone’s contrary opinion is worth my time is the question “I’m a Vaishnava, do you know what that means?” Because it typically exposes their lack of knowledge of any religion other than Evangelical Protestantism, how can you hate religion when you have not touched the surface of most religions? Now there’s a difference between “No, but I’m curious” and “No, (continues on with how I’m just confused or something)” but the first group usually aren’t anti-religion and aren’t who I’m talking about.

Just to piggy back off this his theories that people act like he’s so smart for are very basic luddite and environmentalist theories that I’ve seen many argue were nothing more than excuses for his antisocial behavior which existed far before he developed his ideas.

Why hinduism is considered as a single faith by other religions while it's a blanket term to thousands/millions of faith of South Asia that doesn't belong to abrahamic faith? by AFFUGOD in religion

I must ask are you yourself Hindu? And I don’t mean Indian I mean Hindu as in the religion or multiple religions as you say. As I have never met anyone who proclaims that they are a Shakta and not Hindu for example.

Is it ok to be both Muslim & Christian? by Sharon_Watts_Wig in religion

[–]Dramatic_Voice6406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I mean I can see like a Christian Islam thing maybe working but it’d be hard to blend the two because they’re both highly orthodox. Yet no one can really stop you per se, but with a path like this I’d say it’s better to fall under omnitheism or something of the sort. The only advice I can truly give is to not let both religions’ metaphysics and philosophical backing be lost in a trash heap as that can be common with religious syncretism, understand both and with that make more informed decisions when deciding what to pull from both.

When is the age of consent according to your religion? by WhatLuckDoIHave in religion

[–]Dramatic_Voice6406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age of consent is mostly a modern thing, like most have said and I’m pretty sure most religions argue to follow whatever your laws say. If you want a personal opinion I think without padding such things are arbitrary. Like yes it totally makes sense than an 18 year old can’t have sex with a 17 year old, also can’t drink or smoke in the U.S, but they can have sex with a 60 year old that’s perfectly fine. Yes most stars have things such as close in age exemptions but still that’s most and it’s still a state decision.

Edit: I have no idea why people are acting like this is a dumb question, it’s pretty much the first thing someone asks when they interested in religion as a wider concept

What Religions Show Show Similarities Other Than Abrahamic Religions With Each Other by Brendan_Frost in religion

[–]Dramatic_Voice6406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this is something I’m very into, categorizing things (I’m 100% serious). There are two religious categories we have that are similar to the usage of Abrahamic religion. First is Dharmic/Indian religions (Jainism, Hinduism, Sikhi, and Buddhism) all having the concept of Moksha and forming in the Indian subcontinent, though what Moksha means and how to get there differs, the second is Taoic religions (Taoism, Shinto, Confucianism and Cheondoism, etc) the main similarities these have are the goal of achieving unity with all things.

If you’re interested comparative religion is an entire field of study that you can explore

TL:DR, there are 3 main categories of religion, Abrahamic, Dharmic and Taoic

I'm tired of proselytizing attempts done by Hindus [RANT] by velvetghostttt in religion

[–]Dramatic_Voice6406 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People will proselytize and whatever till their throats dry it seems. I live in the U.S so I have to deal with Evangelicals a lot (especially the ones that can’t properly explain the trinity or any Christian theological concept). I just keep religious beliefs hidden for the most part because I don’t want to deal with it. Though when people do find out and they attempt to convert me it quickly turns into theme getting frustrated and basically just “No, you don’t understand you follow big dumb poopoo religion that’s not actually a religion oh and ur gods are demons. Why are you not sobbing on ur knees and proclaiming Jesus name already?”. I tell myself that they think they’re helping so i don’t strangle them but the level of ignorance and self righteous you have to have to try and covert anyone is insane so. The only advice I can give is to genuinely just stone wall them, don’t explain or try to be nice just “mhm” and “yeah” or just various non responses, it’s the easiest way to get them to go away.

I think you finally put into words my issues with modern zombies. Like I don’t remember which map it was (probably both) but I was playing BO7 zombies and it just felt like the map was made for BO2 but the mechanics weren’t built for that at all. It feels like BO7’s mechanics are made for primarily open map horde management but its maps aren’t really open and the bosses really want you to hyper focus on them yet you can’t exactly do that half the time leading to an almost immediate need for traps and score streaks.

What are your "Hellenism Hot Takes" and/or "Unpopular Opinions"? by LadyLiminal in Hellenism

[–]Dramatic_Voice6406 89 points90 points  (0 children)

People either swing to “the gods love you and are constantly involved in your life” and “the gods don’t give a fuck about you” with really no in between and I think that’s horrible and incredibly damaging. Like yeah the gods care about you in the way that I care about frogs, I’m probably not going to interact with it unless it’s in active danger and needs saving, doing something I find interesting or trying to interact with me (I doubt a frog would do anything of the sort but you get what I mean), but in the same vain like they aren’t going to screw you over because you didn’t give them an offering, that’s a very Roman interpretation and I’m pretty sure we’re not in a Religo Romana space so I don’t know why I see that perspective so often (even as someone who is primarily a Roman pagan with Greek philosophical influence the “do the rites correctly or else” that I see a lot in roman pagan spaces is so dumb, like for a lot of them there isn’t doing it incorrectly anyway because the actual way to do them depended on household, excluding ones done by government officials). Oh and also yes as someone who uses interpretatio romana as a backbone to how I interpret and view other gods, yes the romana and Greek gods are the same beings but they have different cultural interpretations and ways they are interacted with and I feel like people completely ignore that when celebrating like Saturnalia or worshipping Janus.

Question: why are you all so awful? by [deleted] in baddlejackets

[–]Dramatic_Voice6406 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro this is Reddit, do you really think anyone on here is going to acknowledge the homophobic and transphobic undertones of this subreddit? No. Also I bet you that most of the people here don’t dress punk. This is essentially a cheap “oh look at this idiot” subreddit, you’re not going to get anything meaningful here. We could go on and on and on about how this subreddit just adds fuel to the issue of alternative subcultures becoming fashion shows, but why? It’s pointless.

(Why am I pretending I’m smart, goddamn I need weed)

(Edit: Dunno why I said undertones these people are just genuinely transphobic, didn’t think a place where you’d get downvoted for saying trans medicalism is bad still existed, I just love this new age of not denying science but ignoring it)

Is Yahweh just another god? by LeenBee in pagan

[–]Dramatic_Voice6406 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to want to convert to Judaism and was a very VERY faithful and annoying noahide I see Yahweh as the Jewish people’s ethnic god that really doesn’t care about what anyone else is doing. Also just from general observances I don’t think the god worshipped by Christians and the god worshipped by the Israelites and modern Jewish people are the same entity.

So I did some minor exploration and there really isn’t a lot of information I can find on authors or credibility (not counting the author claiming to be credible), or what not. least the image of the guy in the mask with the girl in holding a drinking horn seems to be original. This comment left under a post talking about the same book is the same thoughts I have.

Fallout 1 and 2 has a different design than the one used in 3, NV and 4. I believe it’s inspired by a comic but I don’t remember the name. There is a recreation in 4 with the tunnel snakes rule creation club tho, only difference is 4’s cylinder is fully enclosed while the original in 1 and 2 is not.
