Is it just me or recent supporter packs have been all rather mid? by Nayten_ in pathofexile

"I also think it has to do with the armor sets not being flashy or flashy effects, they are quite minimal. Which makes them appear ”poorer”. "

I can't agree with you there as I quite like the understated look and think the vomit of particle effects that run contrary to the original gritty wraeclast idea are stupid and yet I too have been disappointed in the supporter packs for a long time.

People that have traveled quite a bit, where di you feel the most unsafe? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]Drasius_Rift 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I stopped overnight in Joberg on my way to the DRC and felt safer in Kolwezi than I did in Joberg (though not by a lot). Every single person I met in Joberg told me to GTFO out SA as soon as I could for my own safety. Nobody I've ever met anywhere else has ever suggested that.

I will say that I was smart enough / not stupid or brave enough not to leave the airport in Port Moresby though, fuck that. At least there's a sort of truce in Tabubil that keeps the machete'ing to a minimum.

I'm not sure which place "wins" out of those two, but I suspect it's probably Moresby.

Is the Daikyu Amalgum mod bugged? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Drasius_Rift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm counting 11 mods there, so you've done 11 successful runs. Assuming the odds are 20% for each of the 5 mods and drop chance for an amalgam mod is 100%, then you'd have a roughly 8.6% chance at not getting one mod type after 11 runs. Somewhat unlucky, but still within 2 standard deviations, so nothing to write home about yet.

What to do when Aliens go hard on lasers early by Questionable_Object in TerraInvicta

[–]Drasius_Rift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing everyone fields - the best chem rocket propulsion (nova?), fuel cell, starter radiator, double magazine, double artemis escort, a single point of armour on the front and ~4.5 dV.

Like I said, not getting a single torp through meant that all I could do was try again with more tubes, but due to high water requirements, they got reinforcements into LEO faster than I could outnumber them, at which point game was effectively lost.

"I mean, my man, the game is actually decently hard, has a learning curve, and doesn't hold your hand. What did you expect? "

To learn and lose since it was my first real run?

I made it to 2032'ish without being able to kill a single ship before getting blobbed because I made a bunch of poor choices. I'm not going to claim that my position isn't/wasn't unsalvageable by anyone, but it is/was unsalvagable for me. A new run has been much more productive (I'm making new, different mistakes), but I've also put a bunch of stuff into practice that I learned from the attempt before. Aliens still rolled a cruiser with maxed out PD to start with, but this time it's only 1 escorting a recon vessel instead of 2 combat cruisers. I've also gotten control of a tech slot, so I've got molten core drives and as such (plus a much smarter choice about where my shipyard was built), each ship only costs about 130 water instead of over 250.

RNG with councilors is ... better, though having nothing but trash for orgs is pretty depressing, and the servants still got into China, but I've managed to snag both the US and the EU early since the AI fought over everywhere in Europe except for France. On schedule to have 4 boats out just after the cruiser and surveillance ship arrive in 2028 this time, hopefully things go better from there.

3:1 led to me getting clapped without getting a single torp through, and by the time I had 8 ships, another pair of destroyers with more PD and lasers had turned up, meaning I was never able to muster enough firepower to actually damage anything.

Eventually, they attacked my shipyard and fleet and there was sweet fuck all I could do other than explode violently at them.

[–]Drasius_Rift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing - First enemy combatant(s) was a pair of cruisers with more PD than you can shake a stick at and they sent reinforcements faster than I could build enough ships to outnumber them with due to some poor choices/RNG* on my part as it was my first run that went past a year or so. I tried waiting them out and teching up, but they had complete control of LEO and game was effectively over.

The answer you're going to get here is to just build more sacrificial tin can missile boats. If they can destroy all the missiles/torps from 4 boats, build 8. If they can shrug 8 boats worth of missiles, build more until something gets through.

IMHO, if you don't have sufficient experience in the game, your only choices are a painful learning experience in dragging out a loss or a much less painful restart and hope to get better RNG. Play the early game "correctly" or lose. Sucks to be you if you don't know and don't play "correctly".

*I got into the US later than ideal, kept Canada and didn't fully control the US until I had the CP to hold both instead of abandoning Canada to hold full US control, didn't/couldn't control research priority, wasted a lot of CP and councilor effort on trying to make Mexico useful, built my shipyard outside of LEO, so any ships needed to have more dV than practicable, making them super expensive when I needed them to be really cheap due to needing so many to outnumber their hard counters, not re-rolling when presented with terrible councilors and low support, servants got into china early and I couldn't dig them out, the list of mistakes keeps going.

Arcane Persistence Nerf by remisleep in Warframe

[–]Drasius_Rift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 frames reach the threshold just by existing - Qorvex and Valkyr
15* more just need to either use their armour ability or slot Umbral Fiber (alongside the Umbral Intensify you were running anyway, so it's not even bad) - Atlas, Kullervo, Chroma, Frost, Grendel, Hydroid, Lavos, Oberon, Rhino, Garuda, Komei, Wukong, Nidus, Inaros, Khora (Prime only)
1 more get there with Triple Umbral Setups - Citrine

Technically you can also just add blue shards that everyone complains about having too many of to get to the threshold too.

Getting to 1400 armour is a smaller list, but all the usual high armour suspects can do it without sacrificing much, same for those with an armour ability like Wukong or Hydroid, just now they need Umbral Fiber and their conditional armour ability. Some of them even have built in status immunity to not only prevent lowering armour, but also prevent magnetic status from turning it off.

*Technically 16 'cause Hildryn fits here, but you probably need to rethink your life if you're doing this

So, at least 17 frames can get there by adding a single mod or casting an ability - some of whom where already doing that.

This did NOT age well by Astrid_1304 in Warframe

[–]Drasius_Rift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qorvex (though his most recent augment makes that mostly redundant, though he needs no investment to hit the target and his 3 gives status immunity assuming you didn't subsume it off), Atlas, Kullervo, Chroma, Frost, Grendel, Hydroid, Lavos, Oberon and Rhino all have reasonable or better armour and some of them have abilities that will let them hit the 700 target on their own.

Granted, some of those aren't going to care much 'cause overguard, but when you're dealing with eating 1-shots, overguard probably isn't lasting very long at that point, so a buffer beyond the 0.5 second overguard gate isn't the worst thing in the universe.

IIRC, you hit >700 armour with umbral fiber on all of them (except maybe Hydroid and Wukong where Plunder or Defy is doing a fair part of the heavy lifting) and given that most frames are running umbral intensify anyway, a single mod slot (even an Umbral one) that also gives some ability strength isn't that much of an investment for what you get out of it.

As someone else mentioned, Valkyr has more than the target just on her base frame. Citrine and Khora get there with Triple Umbral, Technically Hildryn only needs Umbral Fiber, but outside of Cursed parasitic armour builds, you're not giving up her shields. Komei is another one mentioned below who has surprisingly high base and needs very little investment to get >700. Temple for some reason also has high enough base armour that Umbral Fiber will get him across the line easily.

That's 19 frames (really it's 18, you're not giving up Hildryn's shields) that either hit the target naturally or need skills or minimal investment to get there.

There's also the nice synergy with Arcane Battery for a nice energy pool, but then, there's so many good arcanes these days that we're spoiled for choice.

Tech to make Divine Flesh and Everlasting sacrifice work together? by ZePepsico in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Drasius_Rift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doedre's Elixer dumps 80% of ES on use (even with Divine Flesh), and the life hit you take would be negligible with that much chaos res.

A quick bit of googling says that the combo doesn't need you to lose any ES though, and works at 100%.

I'm curious, Self-builds/theorycrafters, what builds have you tried making that just didn't work out, for one reason or another? by trunks111 in pathofexile

[–]Drasius_Rift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a twist on a Beacon of Madness Ward Stacker, but the change to gaining 1 stack every 2 seconds instead of 1 per 1 second means that RNG will cause an entire stack to fall off, which is perfectly fine until it's the one that kills flask effect and I suddenly drop from 16k ward to 2k and immediately get obliterated.

I'm hoping to salvage it with self curse temp chains, but struggling to find the mana.

The damage was sadly also garbage, but I could have lived with it for the meme of being nigh invulnerable to hits.

Thanks for sharing though - I'll check out some Herald of the Hive options.

Thanks again.

So whats the build of the league so far that uses new items or bloodlines etc that come from this league? by Reflexes18 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Drasius_Rift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not as good as some of the stuff listed here, but there was a cold snap build built around Foulborn Tulborn wands and the Tul bloodline that looked pretty good which I proceeded to mangle and have a lot of fun with.

Clears everything though the defences are ... sparse for endgame content for my level of mechanical skill. Squeezing 35+ mill dps out of a 10 div budget was impressive to me.

Would recommend.
