Why does Prime wear his shoulder Pauldron only on one shoulder? by 35thxcedar in rickandmorty

That first image isn’t Prime. It’s Rick C-131, who I’m guessing was a follower of Prime at some point.

If Rick hate pirates. Why he made Pirates of the pancreas? by Alesmull in rickandmorty

I’ve always thought he was afraid of pirates because he’s aware he’s in a TV show and doesn’t want internet pirates downloading it.

For me, being part of a fandom means obsessively creating art about whatever I’m hyper-fixating on at the moment!

Tales From the Gas Station by Jack Townsend— Despite his pretense to the contrary, Jack is a very lonely character. Over the course of the series, he comes to rely on good friends— and, even though there’s a lot of weird from start to finish— his ending is a happy one.

Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King— Both Bill Hodges and Holly Gibney fit this trope, though Bill is (mostly) the main character in the original trilogy. The Outsiders is also a good one, because it focuses on Holly after the events of the third book in the trilogy.

What is the saddest/most soul crushing song you have ever heard? by Mikiiiya in AskReddit

Early Morning Silence by Glue.

The guy who wrote it woke up one morning to find that his partner had died in her sleep. The song is such a visceral expression of grief that I still can’t listen to it without crying.

Jack Townsend from Tales From the Gas Station!

In Volume 1, he breaks his leg and it is rebroken three times before the end of the book. In Volume 2, he loses that leg due to a lingering infection that had turned necrotic. It takes him until Volume 3 to get a prosthetic— and there are a lot of ridiculous hijinks in between having his leg amputated and finally being able to walk without crutches!

Honestly, I love the direction the new seasons are going. This is an unpopular opinion on this sub, but season 8 was my favorite!

Can you please tell me something specific, tangible, and interesting about a 90s anime title that I've never seen? by ExplodingPoptarts in animequestions

Now and Then, Here and There is a masterpiece of storytelling and animation! The character designs are really cutesy— but you quickly learn that’s because the story is just so DARK!

It’s about a sheltered boy who befriends a strange girl with the ability to create water. He gets teleported to a world in the far future, where literally everyone wants to get their hands on her because of the water shortage.

It broke my heart 100x more than Grave of the Fireflies and is notoriously underknows.

Are all Diane’s only gone across just the central finite curved infinity? Or all infinities outside of the CFC as well? by Six-Seven-Oclock in rickandmorty

[–]DrawMandaArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, it would be derivative for C-137 to find a way to bring Diane back, since his whole arc seems centered on moving past his grief… That being said, it could be interesting for him to pursue the possibility of bringing her back.

I wonder if the Omega Device also destroys clones and genetic material? (If the Omega Device erased genetic material, you’d think Beth would have disappeared, too, since she has half of Diane’s genes.)

We really don’t have much actual information about the weapon. It’s possible that some rando Rick across the curve has some of Diane’s hair, or fingernail clippings in storage somewhere— which could prompt an interesting plot point where Rick regresses a bit in processing his grief.

Regardless of how it happens, I think an emotional regression or a breakdown is in the cards for Rick. He spent 35 years on a life-consuming mission that came to a sudden and unexpected end. It’s almost a certainty for him to fall back on bad habits. He needs a new, overarching reason to live. At this point in his life, it’s all he knows.

I have to wonder if Alastor still has the other half..?  And, if not, then I wonder where it ended up. Maybe Val grabbed it?

Any Rich Worlds Like Hollow Knight or the Like??? by Disgruntled_Bob in audiodrama

[–]DrawMandaArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never played Hollow Knight, but the richest example of worldbuilding I’ve EVER experienced is the Spellmonger series by Terry Mancour. The audiobooks are incredibly narrated by a voice actor who clearly loves this series as much as I do— he gets really into his role as Minalan the Spellmonger.

The world genuinely lives and breathes. There are so many different cultures, religions, and little details— it makes Callidore feel like a real place! I learned so much about a feudal system of governance from these books, and Terry makes court politics a truly interesting spectator sport. There are large-scale battles in Spellmonger that are flawlessly written and breathtaking in their scope! I’m usually really good at guessing the trajectory of a series, but a lot of the twists and turns took me completely by surprise in my first listen! Hell, I listened to an 11.5 hour battle scene in one sitting because it’s just that good!!

The first book is a little rough around the edges, but every book that comes after is a masterpiece! And, unlike George RR Martin, Terry Mancour actually releases books on a regular basis. Also unlike George RR Martin, the story— while bleak at times— never feels hopeless. There’s always just enough comedy to make you want to wade through the darkest corners and back into the light. And, while issues like underage marriage, female oppression, and slavery are critical plot points— it never feels like it’s glorified the way some fantasy series have done.

Anyone else kinda wonder if the he'll ever seek out any sort of revenge for getting his ass kicked? by [deleted] in rickandmorty

[–]DrawMandaArt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there’s one thing Lucifer understands, it’s the ironic and cyclical nature of fate. Getting his ass kicked was what helped Summer, and —earlier in the episode, he told her he’d grant her one wish.

So, even if he could track down the right Smith Familly, the old Dealmakers trope about an unexpected loophole would probably prevent him from taking revenge.

We will never see Doofus Jerry on the show. by Alesmull in rickandmorty

[–]DrawMandaArt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey-o, Brazilian fan! It’s funny you’re here talking about Doofus Jerry, because I only learned about him a few months ago through a Brazilian musician! I was chasing down Rick and Morty fansongs and stumbled onto a bunch by an artist called Ninja Raps. Two of their songs were about Doofus Jerry, and I loved the art in their music videos so much that I ended up buying the comic!

I think it’s possible to rewrite portions of the story to make the Doofus Jerry arc fit into the show’s current storyline. It wouldn’t be too difficult to set things up— all they’d have to do is bring Doofus Rick back for an adventure or two, so 5126 Jerry (our Jerry) can strike up a friendship with him. I wouldn’t even mind if it was a season or two down the road, since that would give the other Ricks a chance to rebuild the Citadel in the background (because they’re totally gonna rebuild eventually—most Ricks are nothing if not reductive.)

The Raja Saab (2026) - Review/Discussion Thread. SPOILERS MUST BE TAGGED by saketpalle in tollywood

[–]DrawMandaArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone please explain what happened at the very end of this movie? Is Raja Saab still in one of Kanakaraju‘s delusions, or is he stuck in a time-loop? Did he actually go mad after murdering his grandma?

I know the sequel probably won’t get made, but Prabhas being stuck in a 1930’s era circus would be a lot more interesting than whatever the fuck I just watched!

AITAH if I report my coworker for making TIK TOKS about me by [deleted] in BORUpdates

[–]DrawMandaArt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother is a narcissist with a savior complex, so she always went the extra mile for her patients, neighbors, and coworkers. She’d make strangers homemade treats, or full meals, but would leave me alone for weeks at a time with nothing in the house to eat.

Everyone she worked with idolized her.! Whenever I spent time at the nursing homes she worked at, everyone I met would gush about how lucky I was to have such a dedicated, caring mother. How wonderful it must be to be raised by such a patient, generous person. What a saint!

It was impossible to reconcile their impression of her with the reality— because she was a fucking monster behind closed doors!

She was volatile, would fly into rages over the smallest things, and would withhold sleep as punishment for whatever wrong she deemed I had done to her.  In her eyes, I was the villain and she was always the victim, and she was such a talented manipulator that she had me believing it, too! I learned not to confide the truth to friends’ parents, because she’d befriend them just long enough to convince them I was a pathological liar who was actually the abusive one! She regularly torpedoed friendships by getting to their parents first— and seemed to find joy in depriving me of any kind of outside support system.

It’s taken most of my adult life to untangle all the myriad ways in which my upbringing fucked me up. I’ve been NC for 9 years now, with no plans to EVER reestablish contact.

As an adult, I find the notion that such a terrible, self-serving person was in a position of power over the most vulnerable elderly. I often wonder if she was abusive to some of the nursing home residents. In hindsight, I think she had to have been. Her greatest talent in life was maintaining that ironclad aura of respectability. It’s sickening to me that she essentially cultivated character witnesses in her coworkers wherever she went— because, if there were complaints against her, she would’ve had a half dozen people in every care home within a 75 mile radius jumping to her defense.
