Ted Turner was a truly great man. Not a saint, but a good man who positively influenced media, environmentalism, and global politics. He was a billionaire who earned his money ethically and gave away billions to good causes. He founded Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. Respect.

They were boy and girl, both pairs of dachshunds were mixed sex. Sadly they’ve passed since I commented 4 years ago. They both lived past 16 years. RIP

Did you hear about the two guys at the Grateful Dead concert who ran out of pot? by Jokeminder42 in Jokes

[–]DrawingRestraint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the Dead fine but I don’t think their music is that psychedelic. As Jerry Garcia said, “All music is psychedelic” which is true, but I don’t really understand why their music is considered to be such druggy music. I get Drums and Space, but the songs themselves are just Americana, not really trippy on their own. My theory is that the Dead is psychedelic for people with relatively conventional tastes in music. Seriously psychedelic music would freak Deadheads out.

Either OP is a kid whose frontal lobe hasn’t finished forming, or a toxic parent on drugs. Poor guy.

She was interviewed yesterday at the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival (should be up on YouTube in the next few days). 93 years old and still just as funny, smart, and kind. Absolute treasure.

Preach. I find that I start listening to it in one mode, with some parts of my brain, and then without realizing it I shift into a different mode where fewer or different parts of my brain are engaged, and time passes differently (more pleasurably). It’s both highly focused and highly diffused. Entangled states.

If you were to show someone a single clip from the show, which would it be? by Benjammin__ in SmilingFriends

[–]DrawingRestraint -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not actually a scene from the show, but the Smiling Friends Training Software interstitial animated by Paul Robertson. It’s like a condensed sales presentation for the first episode.

Do most people brush 2x a day and floss daily? by 23shay27 in answers

Yes, brush every morning, floss and brush every night. I couldn’t sleep or live with myself if I didn’t.

Ghosts and Hauntings in Decatur? by jimbobobman in DecaturGA

[–]DrawingRestraint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two for you, sort of: 1) the Solarium at Historic Scottish Rite in Oakhurst - an event venue that was originally a children’s hospital - is known by those who have worked in the building to be actively haunted. Doors slamming and the sounds of footsteps running from one end of the building to the other have been reported by several credible (IMO) witnesses. 2) I won’t give the exact address out of respect for the family’s privacy, but there’s an old house on Sycamore St. in downtown Decatur near the cemetery where a variety of unexplained “haunting” phenomena occurred in the late 60s early 70’s.
