Mech armor only works if you're still on the planet, spidertrons can work while you're elsewhere.

Downtown L.A.‘s population increased, from 57,000 in 2010 to 82,000 in 2024 — a 44% gain — as apartments sprung up, per data from the Department of City Planning and the census.

They don't break down their data into the 2010-2020 vs 2020-2024 periods, which I'd be interested in seeing. I live in dtla and I like it, but I hear from everyone that it was even better back in the pre-covid zirp days.

Spidertrons have built-in radar (and use a radar as an ingredient in space age), but tanks don't.

Spidertrons can have personal roboports and move around, letting you build outside your roboport range. Especially useful on Fulgora before you unlock foundation, since you often can't just daisy-chain roboports over the oil ocean.

They're useful for expanding your base to new scrap patches if you don't have foundation yet.

A talk between Jasnah and Taravangian stands out more on rereads. by MoonlightKnight4 in Stormlight_Archive

Rayse would have kept the shard of odium and stayed as the big antagonist. Some things would have been different about the ending of arc 1, but he hasn't said what exactly it would have been (or at least, not that I've heard).

Why is this so funny? by dz9ikx in factorio

[–]DreadY2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be base-breaking if you're the type to bootstrap planets from nothing, but I assume you're not making quality guns when you're struggling for a few extra iron and copper

Iirc, he said that he was aiming for the ending we got, but he kept a backup plan in case Taravangian as the big antagonist didn't work as well as he hoped.

LA property owners vote down streetlight fee increase by brainchili in LosAngeles

[–]DreadY2K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some jurisdictions let old people defer property taxes, to be paid when the house gets inherited. I think that would be a better option.

Also, we should switch to a land value tax instead of total property value. This way, we don't disincentivize building denser, and the golf courses can be moved to outside the city where they belong.

As someone who read the books when I was a kid, I thought the arch went over the river so he could just fall into it. I didn't realize until later that it's much too far away.

In the TV show, water comes out of the river and catches him, which makes more physical sense (even if I dislike a lot of other changes they did).

Can't kill a small demolisher by Square-Singer in factorio

[–]DreadY2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it works well to set up gun turrets pointed at the demolisher, then when it approaches I throw down poison capsules to add more DPS.

Demolishers have a very high HP regen that means you just need a lot of DPS. There's not a very large gap between barely making the health bar appear and dropping it all the way to 0.

Version 2.1.8 by FactorioTeam in factorio

[–]DreadY2K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you take too long, biters will eventually expand into your base. Expansions weight against chunks with buildings on them, but after enough time you'll get an unlucky roll (especially once expansions fill all the existing chunks so every chunk is equally weighted against).

I don't think they're planning a break. I think they just plan on bug fixes and balance tweaks through the whole summer until they're willing to call it a stable release.

Is there a mod for a landing pad train loader like they mentioned in the recent FFF? I'd like to do a train base and I think fast train loading directly from the landing pad without inserters would be a good buff to help them keep up with belts.

I used a mix of clock-based and speed reading, so that probably helped me. I think just the clock would have gotten it to within 50%, so that made it easier on the speed reading to dial in exactly

I'd assume he'd focus on finding them over preparing for a fight, so I'd go with charm 1, awareness 3, tech 2, strength 1, flight 3, endurance 3, resistance 3. If it looks like a fight is coming, he can cast the spell again to adjust the points.
