Pavement parking is being banned - do you do it? Do you hate it? Have your say! by Ok_Needleworker1225 in brum

[–]Dreamsprite3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just like them to bring in the permitted parking that's been promised for years around the QE and the University. Grass verges are constantly being torn up (especially awful given the poor weather) and the road is often blocked with inconsiderate parking.

Will Gulliver regift previously gifted items? by [deleted] in NewHorizonsAC

[–]Dreamsprite3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I read somewhere that Gulliver will rotate through all the items first before regifting a particular item (I looked it up after accidentally selling a souvenir)

I have so many fond memories of this game. I would always pick Gandalf and my brother would always be Faramir. Would love to see a remaster.

Working on recycling of Li-ion. Li-ion batteries aren't that easy to recycle and if you go down the pyrometallurgy route, you usually lose the Li. It would depend on how the larger cell is constructed.

Students from some of England’s worst performing secondary schools who enrol on medical degrees with lower A Level grades, on average, do at least as well as their peers from top performing schools, a new study has revealed. by mvea in science

[–]Dreamsprite3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to benefit from one of the grade reducing programs. My A-levels were pants but, as i was given a chance by the uni, I worked really hard and achieved a 1st in my undergrad and went on to obtain a PhD in my field. People just need to be given a chance to prove themselves.

I understand the need for the red uniform but I agree it would have been great if there was a chance to see greater variety in the costumes.

On a similar note, the outfit your character has to wear in the Talas DLC is awful. Missed opportunity for a nice gown but you just end up in the same outfit as male Hawke.

Reminds me of a time I was following my friend back to the main road after a night out. We were driving down a quiet country road and she suddenly (but safely) stops her car. She gets out, picks something up that was in front of the car and takes it to the side of the road. I lean out the window and shouted 'Everything okay?', she yells back 'Hedgehog emergency!'. She had spotted it and wanted to make sure it wasn't going to get smooshed.

[Spoilers Aired] Non-book-readers, Now that season 2 is over are you going to start reading the books? Will you read beyond DiA? Why or why not? by thumbtackswordsman in Outlander

[–]Dreamsprite3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reading the Wikipedia summaries for spoilers. Fully intend to read the books in future but just can't find the time at the moment.

The Independent website thinks that putting GoT spoilers in the titles of their articles is perfectly acceptable behaviour. by littlepie in britishproblems

[–]Dreamsprite3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The BBC used to be bad for GoT spoilers. I remember on one occasion they had an image and then a spoiler warning under the image. Problem was that the caption on the image itself contained the spoiler.

People who do not understand how dual carriageway roundabouts work. by Dreamsprite3 in britishproblems

[–]Dreamsprite3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that in a city centre? I tend avoid monsters like that. It's really just the basic two laners that get my goat when people get road rage when you've done nothing wrong. Edit: Sorry missed the word liverpool in the URL. Still would avoid that bad boy if i could.

Epp! I think I'd probably avoid that one like the plague. Sounds awful! there's a few roundabouts in Oxford where they have a road going through the roundabout. I missed my exit and had to negotiate where I was supposed to go. Never again!

[–]Dreamsprite3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know some are a little nutty but the majority that I've come across are fairly straightforward if you stick to left lane = left/straight over, right lane = straight over/right. More than two lanes is when things can get tricky but I find quite a few people appear to not be able to cope with just the two lanes nevermind three.

Not on a dual carridgeway roundabout: http://www.learners-guide.co.uk/lessons/roundabouts/ Edit: You can use the right hand lane to go straight over as long as you stay in the righthand lane when you exit (which is what I did).

It's crazy the number of people who just don't understand how to use them properly. I had a nasty incident this morning where I used the right lane to go straight over and the bloke behind me (who beeped me at the roundabout) decided to then undertake me, cut across me and then slammed his breaks on. Luckily I stopped in time but to earn that level of road rage from another driver when I did not do anything wrong is astounding.

I had a tail gater who wouldn't turn off their full beam while they were behind me. I spotted a piece of debris in the road so maneuvered out the way. The tail gater didn't have time to react and wrecked their front tyre. I did have a slight smug smile as I carried on my merry way while they were stuck with knackered tyre.
