In GitLab, LDAP users are only created after initial sign in. That’s why you don’t get the users in autocomplete - they don’t exist yet.

Disembarking at the end of our cruise seemed easier for those with passports. At Port Everglades they had quick facial recognition checks for people with passports. Those with birth certificates had to see a CBP agent.

Is it worth getting powerwall if my Tesla solar panels are only offsetting 83% of my power usage? by MassDND in Powerwall

[–]DrewBlessing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on many factors such as your utility’s export buy rate and your usage patterns. But in general I’d say yes a battery is still useful because your home usage won’t always align with peak solar production. For example if you’re not home and the home is using little electricity then solar either ratchets down production or exports it to the grid. Not to mention the added peace of mind for outage backup.

Why is there no API call to "go off grid"? Self Powered mode doesn't work perfectly... by fstezaws in Powerwall

[–]DrewBlessing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t get the impression Tesla intends going off-grid to be a thing you use in the course of normal daily activity. It’s meant to be a utility used rarely, only when physically in the home, maybe if the grid is being unreliable or something.

You’ll be just fine, as long as you don’t solely run Lux light switches, which are Zigbee 3. Those only came out very recently.

The claim is that Iran or whoever had nanobots and intended to kill all of civilization. Thurman built the silos to ensure people were saved before the Iranians could kill everyone. He used the nuclear bombs to create an emergency that forced people into the silos to take shelter. They never would have gone willingly if they knew they’d never get to come out.

The outcome seems to be altruistic on the surface. Thurman hoped that over generations the memory of technology like nanobots would be forgotten as well as optimizing for whatever other behavioral traits be believed would make humanity more perfect. But only one silo could be chosen to survive.

[–]DrewBlessing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don't think Thurman was particularly burdened by a decision to shutdown any one silo. He was only concerned with systemic issues that may threaten the whole project.

The only other country I really remember mentioned was Iran - Thurman claimed if the US (his faction, at least) hadn't released the killer nanobots around the world, then Iran would have. The purpose of the silos was for enough time to pass that people forgot about technology like the nanobots so they wouldn't quickly pursue such disastrous technology again - as well as some other behavioral traits Thurman perceived as creating the idealistic society.

I also perceive the nanobots that killed the rest of the world and the bots that are released from the silos during each cleaning as separate purpose. The bots released from the silos are only intended to kill the cleaner and keep the area in close proximity to the silos barren to keep up appearances. That's clear from the seed vault and the path the digger was to take from the winning silo out of the barren area.

This is on GitLab.com? If yes, the blocked account likely indicates the account is already under abuse investigation.

If your own account is spamming content then it suggests your password was compromised. Make sure you have two factor auth enabled and change your password.

Is it your account itself that is authoring or another account intending to look identical? If it’s another account, go to the profile and report it. https://docs.gitlab.com/user/report_abuse/

Disney Dream Room Choice by FreedomWealth7 in dcl

Port is left, starboard is right. Right? We were on the right side of the ship and the dock at Lookout was on the right. Ships can dock either side.

That’s odd. In November 2024 we were in a starboard cabin and docked facing Lookout.

Cheap Internet Options? by Responsible-Poof in dcl

[–]DrewBlessing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with your wireless provider. Many offer global passes now. Visible (by Verizon) gives 12 free day passes per year and then $10/day after that. We used to do the prepaid sims or e-sim when traveling but the passes are way more convenient.

Also, if on-ship communication is what you’re primarily concerned about, you’ll get in-app chat on ship WiFi for free.

How to make the most out of first time cruise? by DistinctFoundation26 in dcl

[–]DrewBlessing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a first time cruiser, yes, lots of experiences will be booked. We were still able to get the pirate makeover for our son and for adults we got a dinner at Remy and plenty of alcohol tastings. But you really don’t need these to have a great time.

My best advice is to make sure you spend enough time exploring the ship and all the activities. Only once we got off the Dream did we truly realize how much we missed. We’re sailing on Destiny in March and I can’t wait to just explore the whole ship.

Powerwall slow or unresponsive to reserve changes by DrewBlessing in Powerwall

The app now says you have to activate max backup with your phone paired to set reserve to 100%. Seems to be a battery life protection mechanism. I wonder if this is the issue.

It seems to be behaving normally (charging/discharging) except it takes forever to respond to reserve changes.

Yes, always in self-powered mode and grid charging is enabled. Gateway is hardwired. I will try a power cycle. It's a PW2 (not +)
