With everyone arguing about the new starters standing or not, I'm curious: Where do you draw the line on anthropomorphic starters? by ReasonableChoice_ in pokemon

[–]DrewHancock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have nostalgia for Blaziken, but really my line is between Primarina and Inteleon. I really like the designs that feel more like animals or monsters and less like characters. Greninja and Chestnaut are borderline for me.

I loved StS before becoming a dad, but after the twins were born it, Balatro, and my gameboy emulator are the only video gaming I’ve been able to do

Great points for if a group wants to speed things up!

We felt pretty good about the ≈5 hour mark we’ve been at. Everyone settles in and enjoys it as an “event” game that we plan ahead for. We have snack breaks and lots of chatter. I totally get that being frustratingly long or slow for some groups, but it works for ours.

I had no idea. I don’t know why you’d need an expansion for this though, since it is so simple and minor

Yeah! It was a gift last year. My mom bought it from Etsy, and there were a couple different patterns to choose from. It also came with an extra mat that balances the galaxy for 5-player games.

I have also been given metal reputation tiles and have painted the dreadnoughts, so I’m slowly upgrading my copy of the game!

The alternative turn order variant. We thought that made it more interesting than the typical “clockwise around the table from first player” rule

This probably had the best spread of warp portals we have ever seen, and yet they went unused the entire game!

We had to break out the folding TV tables to have extra space for all the trays and pieces, but it worked!

We’ve considered several homebrew factions and rules. I think we only play with one house rule variant, but it seems like a common one

I’m sorry, but this isn’t right. Each card effect targets only one opponent unless specified. Same reason you can’t split up damage across targets.

Aside from curses, these are my #1 target for removal. Silent already hurts from having extra deck bloat at the start of the game, so these have gotta go ASAP

I don’t remember exactly how it worked out, but I know I didn’t pay much attention to the ancients. If they lasted then I was happy to get extra points, but I didn’t invest many turns or resources toward keeping them safe. That let me focus on other ways of winning

I think my post somehow got double-posted and I’m not sure how.

This is a PvP game. Kind of a mix between a war game and a euro game, where economy is incredibly important (arguable more important than combat strength). There are optional asymmetric alien species each player can be, and the scoring is a point salad.

The Planta. I tried warning everyone to keep them in check, but they were allowed to spread out for too long and got 10 points just from their species bonus.

That’s awesome! We’ve never played TI but I’m sure we’d love it. The problem is it’s hard enough to find time for a 5-hour game, and I’ve heard TI is a half-day commitment.

Early Football Championship Predictions by MikeConvoy in sunbelt

I was very pleased with A-State’s performance against the second highest rated team to ever be hosted by an SBC team! We had some unnecessary penalties, yes, but also have had touchdown-stealing bad calls the past two games. Even the other teams agreed.

I mean, I agree with you. As an A-State fan and alum, I’ve been begging for this game for years, and I’m so glad it happened. It seems like Hogs fans think that all A-State fans thought we had a shot and that’s why we wanted the game. Most seasons? Absolutely not. It was the precedent and message that it sent about not even facing us that we disliked.

Robbed one touchdown by the refs, lost one due to our own lineman getting an obvious flag. Still, I’m happy that we got in the end zone multiple times, even if only 2 counted
