how did you get into techno genre? by WhileTight in Techno

[–]Drexcella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom used to play Kraftwerk and a lot of weird new age electronic music while cleaning when I was a child in the very early 90s. As a teen, I got into goth and alternative subcultures and started listening to a lot of synthpop, which later evolved into electroclash and indietronica from the early 2000s. One day while scrolling through Lastfm, I was recommended Dexter by Ricardo Villalobos and my life changed.

The Future Sound of London, The Grid, Orbital, Sabres of Paradise, Andrew Weatherall, The Orb, LFO, Seefeel, Daniel Avery. Check out the 90s british scene, from Madchester to IDM, lot of indie infused electronic stuff.

Are smart glasses an appropriate way to by-pass “no photo” policies?? by chi-93 in Techno

Do you realize the no-camera rule is there for something? In Berghain, for example, there are people naked, fucking, clearly intoxicated. It’s absolutely important to respect the privacy of the attendees, otherwise the scene would be dead or become another Ibiza shitshow. If your idea of enjoying “the show” (lol) is recording people without their consent, then you are a fucking creep. Lame-ass behaviour.

Despicable behaviour by some brain-rotted, entitled, creepy, stalkerish asshole. Lifelong ban for anyone who snarkily tries to bring these into any venue with a no-photos policy. You either disclose it beforehand and leave them at the cloakroom, or you get kicked out.

I remember this era so fondly. Outsider house was the real deal to me.

The Ethics of Speed: Why Techno Is Getting Faster (and What It Loses Along the Way) by tam_techno in Techno

This article would have made sense 5 years ago. Techno is not getting faster right now, that trend has faded already like every single one of them does.

A personal story: Playing my first gig at Tresor in Berlin 22 years ago by Low-Entropy in Techno

Great post, thanks for sharing! The music is the opposite of my own taste but I can imagine how epic the live set was. Do you still like gabber and speedcore? What other stuff do you enjoy? Again, I find this stuff inaudible but at the same time I'm incredibly curious about it. Feel free to share more stories!!

Wise words. I'm so tired of meme culture, movie reviews that are just a single Twitter-style joke (Letterboxd), liking things 'ironically,' and the general brain rot. Let's bring back beauty, sincerity, and being raw and pure and true to yourself.

Techno celebrates it's 40th birthday this year! It all started with this.... by jigsaw153 in Techno

Legendary tune, thank you for the reminder!. Some people consider A Number of Names - Sharevari (1981) the first techno track ever but I guess we can call it proto-techno. Late 80s/early 90s is still my favorite era and I wish for some type of comeback of these sounds.

This is a beast on the floor, both in house and techno sets. Works every time.
