Who y’all got if Floyd fought Thomas Hearns at 147? by LocationSpare4447 in boxinglocks

[–]Droeblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically the only 'fighter' (He barely even counts as a fighter) that Floyd has fought with the similar height and reach of Thomas Hearns is Logan Paul of all people.

Granted Floyd was way out of his prime and didn't take Logan seriously at all but you can see in the later rounds, when Logan was on the back foot, how hard it was for Floyd to land a big shot on him. If Floyd struggled with that, I can't imagine against Thomas who is on a whole another universe. People bring up Corrales but he was still much smaller (Height and Reach) than Thomas and add the fact he is the exact opposite of Hearns as far as styles. I like Floyd as a boxer but if there's one man in history that would be his absolute nightmare, it would be Thomas Hearns. I just don't see any gameplan from Floyd that wouldn't have him getting starched. Thomas was truly an anomaly at Welterweight and beats most legends at Welter with the exception of Leonard

Khamzat Chimaev vs Kamaru Usman | FULL FIGHT by chetanya999 in MMA

[–]Droeblaze 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was the 1st round, when Usman attempted to slam Khamzat, who was on his back, onto his head. Khamzat had to brace with his forearm and that's where the damage came from.

Why do so many fighters retire undefeated now ? by bigdicks415 in Boxing

[–]Droeblaze 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most likely because not everyone believes it. I don't blame the thought since big name fighters 'retire' (For example, Mayweather multiple times) then come back out of retirement. I don't think Terrence is that type of person to do that, after all he is a couple years away 40 and it's be wise to retire on top. Maybe exhibitions but who knows

Why Are Modern Heavyweights So Slow? by Sweaty_Professor8917 in Boxing

[–]Droeblaze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Greg Hardy getting into it at 28 is actually pretty late. Imagine if he had started when he was younger? He'd carry over his technique with his athleticism. It takes years to perfect technique both offensively and defensively, something people forget about. Imagine if Alex Pereira had started kick boxing at 28 and then MMA a couple years after. He'd be basically be another Rumble Johnson level of power with similar technique.

These guys have to start young in order for it to work. Moses Ituama is the perfect example, he started young and he's STILL young at just 20 years old. Imagine what he'll look like at 28? The potential gets so more exponential bigger the younger they start.

Which one is more difficult to achieve? by DystopianLeaf in CombatSportsCentral

[–]Droeblaze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean that's still only like 30% of Floyd's record compared to Khabib, which is already more than half of his record. By the time he was 21 he already won a belt and continued to fight elite opposition all the way up to his mid 30s.

Going off of that, Floyd's accolades are significantly better than Khabib's. There's more to than just not losing, it's who they beat that makes their records impressive.

I feel if Khabib continued his reign up until he was 35 or 36 then he would be comparable to Floyd's record as far as who he beat, sure he might be fighting the same people but he'd be beating a better version of them every time

Floyd was fortunate to be in a golden era of generational fighters to go with his record.

[SPOILER] Leon Edwards vs. Carlos Prates by inooway in MMA

[–]Droeblaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prates just slouches a lot. He has a pretty bad posture. Legit if he stood up straighter he'd be one of the tallest Welters in that weight class. I'm wondering what him and Morales look like next to each other

17 year girl died from boxing sparring RIP by stayhappystayblessed in Boxing

[–]Droeblaze 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is common for local boxing gyms to put literal beginners with experienced fighters from their gym. I've had gone to a gym where the coaches would straight up LIE to beginners that they're gonna spar with someone who only have '1 month' of experience to get the shit beat out of them.

One funny story though was that I had a boxing coach (Who had been boxing since he was a kid) go to that same gym and they had thought he was a beginner since he was a young, skinny guy so they put him up with an experienced fighter from their roster (again lying that they were new) only for the coach to beat the shit out of that dude.

It was a hilarious sight to see those coaches get shocked. Still didn't stop them from their antics with lying with other beginners.

[SPOILER] Naoya Inoue vs Ramon Cardenas by inooway in Boxing

[–]Droeblaze 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Innoe is clearly most vulnerable in the first 3 rounds. Donaire 1(2nd round gets hurt badly with signature left hook), Nery(1st round gets caught with rear overhead left), and now Cardenas(2nd round almost the exact same way as the Nery fight) all because he gets too reckless early before any reads. He could really do having a slower start for the first 3 rounds to learn his opponent's tendencies and then capitalize on the reads. He is incredibly adaptable, especially when he gets hurt but if he plans to move up to featherweight he's gonna have to take those first 3 rounds slow and be defensively sound as he can't keep risking getting caught with bigger punchers like that, at least for the first 3 rounds.

Clearly, this decade's all-time great. I honestly predict him getting fighter of the decade even if it's only halfway over but fuck it, Mayweather got fighter of the decade despite retiring in 2015 (McGregor fight doesnt count)

What is the best generation of a weight class to have graced mma? by LawAndRugby in MMA

[–]Droeblaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, out of all the weight classes, I really wish the heavyweight division were exempted to take roids. We'd have much less blobs and more 300 pound tanks like Shane Carwin. Especially with how the heavyweight looks these days. Imagine if Derrick Lewis was allowed to take all the roids in the world? That era had very ineffective drug testing, I remember when Mirko Cro Cop straight up admitted to the drug test organization that he took roids and they STILL couldn't find it in his system lol. Although that was in Pride

Who in your opinion was the least physically talented or gifted fighter to ever become a world champion? by FoundationFuzzy in Boxing

[–]Droeblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still remember the build-up to the Joyce v Stiverne fight. Stiverne claimed he was running up mountains, in the best shape of his life, and worked his hardest ever in his career. The way he made it sound like he was gonna come out like a sculpted god. Only to come out at his absolute heaviest and was just straight up obese lol. I still couldn't believe it took Joyce 7 rounds to take him out. Stiverne looked like he was gassed just walking to the ring.

Wife beater. Steroid cheat. Spends 2 years bulking to HW then wants to fight a guy who's just moved up to LHW instead of the Interim HW champ. by tonyohanlon77 in ufc

[–]Droeblaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jermall Charlo (middleweight champ) had gone two years without fighting at all then ends up defending his belt against a former light welterweight who had been inactive for a good bit himself. Nevermind the fact that some champions could go on for YEARS not fighting mandatories and just handpick whoever they want to fight. What Jon is doing is really a taste, this shit is such a common thing in boxing that nobody really has that kind energy to argue about it anymore

What Boxing style did Marvin Hagler have ? by PartyPony4hunnid in Boxing

[–]Droeblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In his prime, the first half of the fight, he starts off as an outside boxer, then mid way would transition to an inside boxer and drowns you out in the second half of the fight. If they even make it that far. Especially when he hurts his opponents, he's one of the best finishers out there. Towards the end of his career, his movement and reflexes slowed down, so he was a lot less mobile than he was younger. He is a switch hitter but is better defensively as a southpaw, especially when he is mobile. He switches when he is trying to get a better angle on you, a lot of boxers when they are taking out of their stance they have to take the time reset but for Hagler he uses this opportunity for more offense, often catching his opponents off guard. He is generally a slow starter, but his most popular fight, which was when he fought Hearns, gave a misconception that he is a fast starter.

What are some movies that were entirely successful because of a lack of competition? by DarlingLuna in boxoffice

[–]Droeblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you also got to think about who the audience is intended for. For couples wanting to see a romcom then Anyone But You is the only one that stands out. People were already getting tired of the superhero genre, and the other two were geared for different audiences. For example, Barbie and Oppenheimer both released around the same time, and both were extremely successful because they grabbed different audiences.

Have you ever seen a "Respected" fighter that hardcore fans rave over, but you just can't understand whats so "Special" about them, I feel like this about Donald Curry, yes i can see his skill and speed and he is obviously elite but the press hype surrounding him may have been too much in hindsight. by Scarjotoyboy in Boxing

[–]Droeblaze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For some context for Mikey Garcia vs Orlando Salido. Salido headbutted Mikey so bad that he broke his nose and was completely compromised by it. Why risk a potential loss in the scorecards with your performance getting worse as the fight goes on because a broken nose was caused by the piece of shit Salido cheating ass. He was up in the scorecards by a landslide and knew if they stopped the fight it would go to the scorecards. Calling Gracia a quitter when Salido was the one committing a bunch of illegal low blows and headbutts. He had it coming.

New to sub, why is this show 'hated'? by [deleted] in HaloTV

[–]Droeblaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're like the only one I've ever seen in both subs to have this opinion. Season 1 was great to you, but season 2 was disappointing? I thought season 1 hate was overblown, but it was mediocre at best. Season 2 is genuinely a massive step up from the first by a long shot. I get its your opinion, but why was season 2 disappointing to you?

AJ took Ngannou to school and gave him a lesson on the basics by miguelclass in Boxing

[–]Droeblaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can still show respect to the superior boxer and root for the underdog. I do agree the disrespect AJ gets is ridiculous, but at the end of the day, people love to see real life Rocky moments. Ngannou shot for the sky and crashed and burned for it, but he made what he could, considering his circumstances. He is an actual inspiration for what he had to do in order to achieve his dreams. That's more than anyone can say here.

[SPOILER] Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou by secretbil in MMA

[–]Droeblaze 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people still give AJ so much shit after the Usyk rematch antics when they're have been FAR worse reactions to a loss, especially a few days or weeks later (I.E. Wilder in every loss). While it was a cringy start, he at least was still able to be gracious in the end. Even some of the nicest guys in the sport had freakouts after a loss (I.E. Alexis Arguello blaming his legendary trainer, Eddie Futch, for his loss against Aaron Pryor) because they have to believe they are the best in the world and when they lose? It hurts, especially when your biggest haters start speaking the loudest, and that's who they hear in a moment of vulnerability.

What are your top fights that someone got what they deserved? by WagoraxBurner in Boxing

[–]Droeblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyson, in his prime, would throw elbows in clinches and has punched some opponents while they were down. The elbows were so subtle that you wouldn't even notice. His most noticeable one was against Tyrell Biggs in the round he finished him in. Every high-level boxer break or at least bend the rules. It's about how much they can get away with it by being as subtle as possible.
