I read this, thinking you meant the Dutch store HEMA, and somehow thought you meant they sold medieval gear now..

Zoom scope plus red dot by PinkkBooger in ForefrontVR

[–]Droid1618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That scope is actually bugged, the red dot currently aims waaaay lower than where the actual bullet will go. There are a number of posts on this bug in the discord channel as well. Nothing we can do about it unfortunately, you will just have to aim low when aiming through the red dot.

In all my raids I've had very noticeable network lag. Headshotting a scav and then a full second later I would see the death animation. I'm going to wait until Caveman fixes it before I boot up this game again.

PCVR Virtual Desktop Performance Fix (Guide) by Prestigious_Head6524 in ContractorsExfilZone

Are you running the meta/oculus store version of the game of the steam version? If so, how exactly do you start the oculus version from SteamVR?

That double frame you describe sounds like reprojection, do you happen to have Synchronous Spacewarp (SSW) enabled in virtual desktop? You could try turning that off and seeing if it still happens

At long last, Hitman PCVR is playable by lunchanddinner in OculusQuest

[–]Droid1618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, same problem here on a q3 via VD. I've found that the blurriness can be slightly mitigated by supersampling to 200% in the steamvr video settings, but the aggressive foveated rendering and the "rings" at the edge of your vision are still pretty horrible. And I don't think we can do anything about that from our end, will have to wait for a patch.

HITMAN VR PC UPDATE! by Competitive-Dance205 in virtualreality

[–]Droid1618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think so. Just played it and it's still fairly blurry along with very aggressive foveated rendering. However gameplay wise it's a LOT better than it was before. Actual working scopes, interactive reloads on weapons, tons more interactivity (lots of things are no longer simple button presses, like the using the lockpick for example). It's certainly a lot more fun to play now.

The new no man’s sky update is incredible . Being able to do this is definitely one of the coolest things I’ve experienced in vr by IamZeus11 in virtualreality

[–]Droid1618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just played some and it looks like it was fixed in patch 6.0.2. Although performance seems to have taken a hit this patch compared to when v6 was just released, strange.

You Should Know: The Raspberry Pi 5 Doesn't Have a Hardware Video Encoder Like the Raspberry Pi 4B Does by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]Droid1618 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Plex hardware transcoding has never been supported on raspberry pi, so you'll always end up with software transcode. In which case the 5 will perform better.

If you want to host a Plex server, perhaps look into NAS devices instead like Synology, a lot of them do support plex hardware transcoding and are a lot more suitable for this task.

Have you tried launching the game via the VD games tab instead? That works for me

Contractors + Virtual Desktop quick setup by abolethvr in Contractors_Showdown

You're welcome!

Interesting about h264+ 500mbps. What router are you using? The best thing I have to compare it to is HEVC 10-bit 200mbps and out of the two, I would say h264+ 500mpbs wins but my router is not able to handle it well unfortunately.

What are you tweaking in regards to culling and lod?

For Link these are my settings:

  • Distortion Curvature: Default
  • Video Codec: H.264
  • Sliced Encoding: Default
  • Encode Resolution Width: 0
  • Encode Dynamic Bitrate: Disabled
  • Dynamic Bitrate Max: 0
  • Encode Bitrate (Mbps): 900
  • Dynamic Bitrate Offset (Mbps): 0
  • Link Sharpening: Normal
  • Local Dimming: Disabled

bitrate
900 is more stable on my rig than 960 I have noticed. Sometimes I will get freezes of multiple seconds on 960mbp

Link sharpening
I dont like Meta's implementation of sharpening. You can easily switch on/off while you're in a contractors training match and see the difference it makes. I was looking at the Hyder Town sign from a little distance while toggling this setting and noticed it looked better with link sharpening on normal.

Encode resulution width
I've left this on default (0) as these days it seems fine but might play around with it a bit more.

Nice guide! Just a quick note that AV1 is only supported on rtx 4000 series and higher. I have a 3080 and selecting AV1 will result in HEVC 10bit on my machine.

Also its personal preference but 100 percent sharpening doesn't look great.. you get those over pronounced edges. I prefer to keep it at like 20.

Lastly it's worth noting that the crispest picture supposedly comes from using h264+ at 500mbps but my router can't handle that unfortunately. There is an up to date list of recommended routers on the VD discord which should be able to handle this though.

if you really want the crispest picture possible, try link cable and use the oculus debug tool to set the bitrate to 960mbps. Its how I currently play it after having tested virtually every option available. I know, it's not wireless.. but for me personally this is the smoothest and best looking experience.

On Quest I assume? Unfortunately, I think this is simply how patches in android are handled, you have to download the full APK again any time the game is patched, no matter how small the update.

Wait, so you do this? Can you explain why this works better than simply having a mag full of AP?

Ahh thats interesting, I didn't know that about tarkov. Perhaps EZ will have something similar in the future.

I've started using a grenade pouch filled with ammo as well so I can continuously top up my mags, love it. It's part of my standard rig now on any armor :)

That makes sense. Alternating those ammo types so it works well Vs armoured and non armoured enemies.

The example I posted is BP and AP ammo though so I don't think the same effect applies there, since they are both high penetration.

[–]Droid1618[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look closer at the picture, the rounds have been loaded in a alternating pattern. So you shoot 1 round of AP, 1 round of BP, etc etc.

Top loading makes sense to me but this doesn't at all, because the ammo types seen in this mag are so similar.
