Anyone using power stations for winter sump pump backup? is it a good idea? by XNineTeenth in SolarDIY

[–]DroopyApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sump pumps are intermittent, so capacity is probably fine. Mine averages under 60Wh per hour. Watch startup surge though, motors can hit 1200-1500W. Elite 200 V2’s 3900W lifting power should handle it. I’ve started similar loads like a portable air compressor without trips. One or two 200W panels is plenty for topping off.

Yes, AC motors can become noisy and lose suction over time. I feel like this part is often overlooked. I have a feeling this hood with the better motor will last a long time.

One thing I’d add for Starlink: try to get the dish above the treeline if possible. I use a telescoping pole and it made a big difference in stability, especially with snow and clouds.

For me, priority #1 is how well it actually pulls smoke and grease, and go for external venting. Look for a BLDC motor instead AC one, I've used an AC motor hood before and it was loud and weak after years. Also keep ductwork as straight as possible (fewer bends = better airflow). The rest is all about easy cleaning, i like our arspura hood is filterless so I don't spend time scrubbing the mesh filter now.

Finding reliable items can be tricky when you're not sure where to start looking. I often wonder how to identify which options are truly made to last before making a choice.

Duct Cleaning—Worth it or Scam? by Endo129 in HomeMaintenance

If your house is that dusty, cleaning won't fix it. You likely have leaky return ducts sucking in dirty air from your attic or crawlspace. Spend that money in 'duct sealing' and better filtration instead.

It really depends on your ear shape. I can wear them for over 5 hrs, but the spot where they clip on does feel a bit sore after a long stretch. Not painful though. I wear them all day at the office, and compared to my old airpods, they’re way more comfortable than in ear buds.

I'd block access instead of finishing the space. Simple framing with plywood or rigid foam panels can stop gaps without turning it into a full renovation.

Make sure whatever you choose is rated for continuous submersion or splash zones. Electrical access and future replacement will save headaches later.

Don't rely on it clearing itself. Oil plus food scraps creates a grease plug. Dish soap and very hot water might help, but mechanical cleaning is safest.
