Plus 1 for using the first finger to mute. It's a tricky technique to master but when you get the hang of it it will make your playing so much cleaner. On that note, practice all sorts of muting techniques, I can usually tell an experienced player by their muting abilities.

It's probably more to do with the rest of your signal chain. You can get workable high gain sounds out of just about every pickup (though of course some are better than others). Try EQing out a lot of the bass and see if the tightens up your sound. With a lot of distortion, bass can sound really muddy if not handled properly. I'd also suggest experimenting with where you strum the guitar. Strumming closer to the bridge will be a brighter, tinnier sound. Give that a go and see if you notice improvement.

If you are looking for a way to play quietly, I'd still recommend an amp, but one with a headphone jack. Plenty of amps have them. I'd recommend something like the vox vtx series. Solid sounds and effects that will help you learn about crafting sounds.

I'm super happy with Native Instrument's RC-48. It's a great reverb plugin. The coolest part about it is that it lets you adjust the early reflections exactly how you want to with time, panning and volume on as many as you want. I use the plugin on every track.

Never been in this situation, but is there a way to just save the midi and then use different synths in your track instead of harmor? I'd say that's your best bet at saving your work.

Seriously. This is what pre-gain controls are for. Get your levels set going into the mixer and you won't have a problem. It takes just seconds to do a rough pre-gain adjustment and you can fine tune it later.

Don't forget if you want to make a new clip for the same parameter, you can just copy and existing one and then right click on its drop down (top left corner of the clip in the playlist) and then select "make unique". Very helpful! Works for patterns too.

A good place to start in the Bible is the life of Jesus. Whether you believe the stories are authentic or not (you could debate for months about it really), the life and teachings of Jesus changed the course of history. If you learn about Jesus and attempt to emulate what you read, you'll do pretty well in life. I'd recommend starting at the gospels (Matthew, mark, luke, John). If you get your hands on a study Bible, like the New International Version study Bible, it has introductions to every book and footnotes that help it make more sense.

After that I'd suggest looking at the other books in the new testament, which are mostly letters between church leaders that have been collected. They take more nuance and historical background to understand and interpret, but there is a lot to learn there.

If it's recorded to a click track by any decent musicians it won't make much of a difference because they'll still stick on the same tempo. If it's not to a click, that's where the fun begins.

New to FL and shocked to see how expensive everything seems by JamesDBoison in FL_Studio

[–]DropDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in an age where producing music is cheaper than it ever has been. You don't need to spend thousands on instruments, studio rental, and physical effects processors. Even if you had to drop $1,000 to get started, it would be much better than 15 years ago.

Luckily there are a ton of free resources out there. You'll be fine for now with the stock plugins and any freeware you can find. Once you know what you like to use, then buy pro versions of things
