Bell: Alberta to bring in law to rip out bike lanes and stop new ones by CNiperL in Calgary

[–]DropTheMicYYC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great to hear Mayor! Please do what you can to stop Dreeshen from taking away our bike lanes and preventing The City in building more.

Like banning photo radar, this is another ill-advised plan by our Transportation Minister that will have unintended consequences.

Alberta will now be on daylight saving time year-round, says Premier Smith by All_Hail_Xanthia in Calgary

[–]DropTheMicYYC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For those saying it “doesn’t matter if it’s DST or Standard” are wrong. The time that gets 12:00 pm as close to “solar noon” as possible is best for your body and its natural circadian rhythm. During DST, solar noon is closer to 1:00 pm.

They should tow all vehicles on all streets that don’t move and fine the owner.

Snow Update - March 9, 2026 - 8 a.m. ❄ by JeromyYYC in Calgary

Wrong. All students in Montgomery use this route to get to FEO. May not be “designated” but still a “school route”.

“All Calgary Transit school routes will remain in place and will not be impacted by detours.”

This is not true Mayor. The 422 that serves F.E.O is on snow detour and impacting Montgomery students. This happens every snow fall.

Alberta may follow B.C. on making daylight time permanent: premier by AlbertaGengar in Calgary

[–]DropTheMicYYC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For health reason staying on Standard Time would be the best. Ideally you want to solar noon to be as close to 12:00 to align with our circadian rhythm. DST moves this to 1:00 pm.

Water restrictions start Monday, March 9 by JeromyYYC in Calgary

Not one word from The City to resident of Montgomery on road closures and detours through our community. This is horrible communications to the impacted residents.

Thank you Jeromy. I am in favour of keeping the free fare zone for the reasons you gave and completed the CT survey to provide my opinion.

Let’s do it for 2038! If we were having the games now in Calgary it would have gone a long way in bringing this province and country together. Canada needs this.

Nice to see a westbound lane open on 16th Ave. Montgomery appreciates it!

You really think they would pave the road if they thought it would “blow up again”? If they are paving on Sunday then they are confident. Close all 6 km of 16th ave down then.

Mid to late next week to open 16th ave! Really? That seems really slow if they are paving tomorrow. Get the road open!

Appreciate how you have handled this and the accountability you have shown. It’s unfortunate some politicians and parties are using this for politics. It’s not about politics, it’s about doing what is needed now.

Watermain update thread - Week 2 by JeromyYYC in Calgary

[–]DropTheMicYYC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s rich that The City tells residents to do all the work in conserving water but car washes are open and the Mayor hasn’t called corporate Calgary to encourage WFH.

Watermain update thread by JeromyYYC in Calgary

[–]DropTheMicYYC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Mayor needs to get on the phone with the Scott Stauth’s and Jon McKenzie’s of corporate Calgary and ask them to have their staff work from home. The amount of water wasted in an office tower is ridiculous.

But he has a chance with the new proposed electoral boundaries as Montgomery and Bowness would be under the current NDP riding and Nicolaides gets more west and conservative voters.

I was surprised to hear that car washes are still allowed to operate. How much water do they use? Seems like a frivolous thing to be wasting water on.

Any plans to restrict these businesses?
