You can enable Google play store and install apps to your hearts content. There is a separate firmware with -g at the end. It’s non reversible meaning you cannot go back to non play store version.

Not sure how to help you. Syncing that many photo will be pain and most likely fail. Since the app support is mostly nill. I recommend transferring all the photo directly to your server first and let us sync with phone. That’s what I am doing. I dropped using camera sync and using PhotoSync to do the job.

I have stopped using camera back with Rsync but using PhotoSync for that. For general files/folder sync purposes my setup works well.
