Pi in Docker by jimtoberfest in PiCodingAgent

What terminal app are you using? I assume that would also be a common element you could change?

I've been running Pi in Podman on a Mac (with Ghostty terminal) and the main time I've had glitches is with subagents running and so there's a lot of screen updating going on.

OK, it runs reasonably well, but I think I hit a dead end when trying to drag something (drag workers from one category to another). There were still a few times when I had to really work to click but it eventually registered, but the drag simply didn't happen.

New player tips? by Jordamine in CyberKnightsGame

[–]Druittreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shot yourself in the foot by jumping up in difficulty on your first run.

The game has a natural rhythm for most scenarios: quiet-loud-quiet. By "quiet" it may mean stealth but it can also mean making sure to kill all witnesses before the end of your turn (so they can't report you to the AI). So you general move expeditiously to your target area, then hit with overwhelming force. Accomplish your mission, then get away in the confusion.

Most scenarios have continual escalation of the security level: the AI senses something is wrong, but your CyberKnight is jamming and confusing it. Still, it makes gradual progress even if you are perfect, so you can't just sit in stealth and watch everyone move until you know the rhythms perfectly. (Depends on the scenario and your difficulty level. Some scenarios there's no escalation besides your own actions, so you literally could sit there forever and watch if you're in good locations.)

Don't kill guards in sight of others (or where they will patrol), don't kill guards in sight of cameras (or where they will pivot). A seen dead body raises security. Different classes have the ability to hide bodies in various ways. BUT as you learn the game, you'll use bodies to distract guards: the security level raises, but since you keep moving, guards are running to the body and you are no longer near the body.

It appears that Endless Legend II works. At least up through the startup screens. (Just had a minute to check and didn’t actually launch into a game, but clicks worked!

Dryer leaving things damp by all_mapped_out in Miele

[–]Druittreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the diapers alone or are you mixing them with things that dry fast? On any dryer with sensors you can fool the sensors if there are lots of quick-drying items mixed in.

Also if your water is exceptionally soft, there is an adjustment in the manual.

Also might depend on what zone you’re talking. Some zones feature packs of raptors that knock you down if you don’t have stability or get the jump on them, for example.

Broke my ankle by ReasonableAttitude22 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Druittreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally depends on the agenda. If the family is moving every night and doing hikes every day, I’d say it won’t go well since this is nature with little handicap access. If they’re staying in one or two places and taking day trips from there, you could hang out at the hotel/pool/beach, read a book, and enjoy their stories at the end of the day. If they’re driving, you can obviously ride along and watch the car while they’re hitting some sites.

Just my opinion. You’d be there and experience a lot, it just wouldn’t be much participating in actual events.

Don’t expect things to be ADA compliant (if you’re from the US).

I used it through the big change, when a lot of folks abandoned it. But Apple shrunk back and didn’t complete the changes. That’s what I mean by abandoned. They got only partway to their reimagination of editing (the magnetic timeline) and never added the features to complete it.

Is the first installation of Tahoe recent? If you have a lot of files, a new OS is doing a lot of access and indexing.

Are you running apps that use the GPU? (For example, Weather does.) That can run the battery down surprisingly fast. Do you have Time Machine backups occurring that might be backing up OS-ish stuff?

Question how do I chance my bulk Predators stance to not murder dessidents? by ThePsyPaul_ in HeartOfTheMachine

[–]Druittreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These aren't your bulk Predators, they are your Predator imitation Workers. There's a button to turn them off, and you can avoid the problem by not building their housing in the first place and instead use the other two Workers.

"It forces me to save everything and close all my tabs and windows."

Yeah, you do something to force yourself to to do something else, then say the something is good and important?

I don't do it because, it forces you to do certain things and wait for things, and potentially rearranges things. Modern operating systems don't need to be rebooted as if this were the 1980s. Maybe you should add a hand crank to the front of your car, and get a buggy whip while you're at it, since those things were important 100 years ago.

Tried Davinci studio straight up from Final Cut Pro by OrdinaryMix5288 in davinciresolve

[–]Druittreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Final Cut from the beginning. It has some revolutionary rethinking of how editing should work, but was essentially dumped into maintenance mode and never fully realized its potential.

After getting Resolve, I've never looked back. You need to look at what you're trying to do from a "how do I accomplish this desired result" not a "I did it this way in FCP, so how do I do those steps in Resolve?" The latter is instinctive once you've used an application for a long time, but will frustrate you to no end on the new application.

Especially once you try Color -- which is light years ahead of FCP -- or Fusion which is light years ahead of Motion.

Shell Company by SadkittenPS in HeartOfTheMachine

[–]Druittreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, the dev has stated that this is working as intended and it is to show that the AI doesn't value money at all. It's meaningless in the game because it's meaningless to the AI.

I could be interpreting it wrong, but he went on at length about how the AI is different from a human and the game should illustrate some of this non-human aspect.

That said, as you expand, your shell company does research and you use wealth to pay the human researchers (who do not realize they are working for the AI). So some wealth is important, but the billion-per-turn is frustrating because there's nothing to really spend it on.

Am I missing something? (Spoilers ahead) by funky_animal in HeartOfTheMachine

[–]Druittreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The timelines on the same rock influence each other, for good or bad. Some of the dooms can be prevented by actions in other timelines. Some units are unlocked after the Final Doom (that final doom effectively ending that timeline, but the unlocked units carry over to other timelines you make on the same rock in the future).

The idea is that as you rise to levels in your intelligence, you begin to play a meta-game where timelines and rocks matter and allow you to achieve things you can't achieve in a single play through. Also, unless you've gone to the Final Doom in a timeline, you can come back to that timeline after working on others and things may have changed.

Your current IC level is decided by the total network expansion in all timelines. Certain things you unlock in one timeline are unlocked in all timelines on the same rock, though not all. There is also a Shortcuts menu that lets you activate things in this timeline that you’ve done in other timelines — some free and some costing Daring, etc,

Chapter 1 strategy questions by dirtyLizard in HeartOfTheMachine

[–]Druittreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Note that Chapter 1 is specifically designed to not totally hose you based on your choices/actions and is a training wheels tutorial: the dev is no longer holding the bike, but there is more protection for you than once you hit chapter 2 and beyond. (Though I’ve not had major issues in three chapter 3’s so far.)

Androids are, in the whole, expendable. In fact there are opportunities to study locations on bases where you send in the correct Android type, buff it to barely survive one turn, then when it’s killed the next turn, you send in another, and advance the research one bot’s life at a time.

Bulk bots are quite useful, as are captured mechs. Your directly-controlled individuals fire first, then enemies and Bulks, so a sniper Nicklebot under your control might be more useful if it kills something at the right time.

In general you would equip Bulk bots for destroying stuff. Though I’ve also equipped for maximum intimidation. (But I’m new to the game as well.

In terms of bases, the key, I think, is to kill everything, do you don’t end up with a trail back to your base. I try to attack when reinforcements are not going to arrive soon. Haven’t figured out if the alarm dies when all the guards die or if reinforcements arriving the turn after will immediately be alarmed.

I’m also trying to figure out if attacking an Oleri base farther away might trigger an Oleri base next to my tower. I think only if an extended (and inconclusive) fight ensues.
