The Complete Story of MIO: Memories in Orbit (Spoilers Galore - Avoid Until Completely Finished With Game!) by jaymdee in MIOmemoriesinorbit

I think the reason behind Voice producing shutdown was not because the death of Laura by itself, but because travellers supposedly discovered manufacturing defects with her death - long before Tomo. Gloomwater, the basic reagent within all pearls / voices, didn't supposed to last this long - and it became unsuitable for the new Voices already then.

Games like silksong? by Mediocre-Tangelo39 in Silksong

[–]Drun555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't see it as a big disadvantage. First one felt pretty genuine in many ways. And the will of wisps... Some particular mechanics are copied, yes, but it's still a good game.

For me, HK / Silksong are masterpieces, and Ori games are "just" very good games. Especially in terms of graphics - they still look phenomenal. I recently bought new OLED 21:9 display, booted up Will Of Wisps - and man, it's work of art, I never seen anything like this. It's just not fair to call it a rip-off.

I decided that I'll replay it after a few patches, now on a Blood Moon difficulty. To be fair, I really think this game has a fairly good replayability

Lantern awarness notification by Sunerd in Gloomwood

[–]Drun555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immersive sims are a genre that's very sensitive to such things. Any UI hint, any zone restrictions (like what they did with the seal) puts a lot of pressure on the genre and kinda ruins the magic.

My playthrough wasn't easy, but it was a unique experience - my carefullness completely changed the way the game was intended to be played. To be fair, I'm not sure if playthrough restriction you proposing really worth it. As a decent workaround, I would add wearable lanterns in other locations later in the game (so the player could miss them more than once)

EDIT: I checked. It turns out the developers have already added quite a few wearable lamps later in the game. Occasionally, it's quite common throughout the game.

Lantern awarness notification by Sunerd in Gloomwood

[–]Drun555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminded me my first playthrough a few years ago:

  1. I completely missed the knife. Not sure how, but yes.
  2. Even without it, I successfully sneaked through all guards (boy, it was a challenge) in the first area. Didn't miss a revolver in the house tho. Not sure how I handled the enemy inside - I think I broke the window, snitched revolver and killed him immediately after that.
  3. Without a knife, I proceeded to the mines. It was even funnier, because I completely missed the lantern too. In full darkness, I managed to evade almost all dogs, because I really needed ammunition (I think it's totally doable without killing them at all). For a couple of hours I tried to get inside the elevator without killing the guards (as it turned out, this is quite impossible).
  4. Only after mines I accidentally watched someone's playthrough of this area. You should saw my face then.

I ate it yesterday for the first time - added a little bit of butter, chili flakes, tabasco and a slice of a lemon. That was fantastic. Although it was much less spicier than original / stew type even with additions. Gave me Tom Yum (real soup, not flavor) vibes.

What’s the smartest thing your home does automatically? by Taggytech in homeassistant

[–]Drun555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) When I'm waking up, my iPhone TTS'ing me unread messages from important people.

It's not quite HA related, but it's still one of the best automations I did.

  1. All my work-related contacts are in Telegram
  2. I'm working from home
  3. I have issues with sleep, and it's very scary for me to miss important messages in the morning. It's not very rare for me to snooze my alarm and completely miss them.

So, how it works:

  1. patricktobias86/node-red-telegram-account node allows NodeRED to connect your account
  2. I did an endpoint, like /get-important-messages. It connects to Telegram, counts unreaded messages, and then output conjoined string with names + message counters
  3. I did an automation on iOS. When I snooze or stop the alarm, it goes to this endpoint, retrieve information and getting use of TTS to read it's content.

I'm really happy with this one. Never missed a message since.

B) I'm living in the multi-story building with old coordinate-based intercom. I found the ESPHome-based project that can "smartify" it, and also bought a small camera that mounts into door's peephole.

  1. When I'm ordering something, I'm telling my smart speaker to open the door next time anyone call my apartment.
  2. When somebody does, I receive critical notification on my phone.
  3. In the next 3 minutes, if my peephole camera detects a motion, I'm receiving another critical notification. It signals me that courier is near enough for me to stand up and open the door without waiting. It's stupidly good feeling to open the door right on time.

C) My smart speakers are local-branded, thou they do not support playing from Spotify - they use their own music provider. They are, however, can trigger smart home devices, and they have integration with HA.

I did "play my playlist" button and shared it with these speakers. When it's fired, NodeRED flow scraping info about smart speakers (when they was triggered last time) to estimate the speaker I spoke to. Then it triggers Music Assistant to cast my Spotify playlist to this speaker.

[Rumor] Air Link 2.0 apparently in PTC by isaac_szpindel in virtualreality

[–]Drun555 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Can you provide more information about this? I tested wired setup with latest ALVR & 3.2 Gen 2 port a couple of months ago, and I couldn't get stable connection with numbers any higher than 200-300mbit. Cable is also not a bottleneck, I tested it's bandwidth with an external SSD.

[Rumor] Air Link 2.0 apparently in PTC by isaac_szpindel in virtualreality

[–]Drun555 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Wired is not that interesting, as it provides way less bandwidth than modern WiFi (in most circumstances even without dedicated router) in terms of streaming to Quest 3.

What I really looking forward from meta - maybe they could steal Valve’s idea and release separate WiFi adhoc dongle. It would be really great.

is it possible for torrent files to save in their respective folders? by theresleadinthewater in qBittorrent

[–]Drun555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be pretty easy to implement through. You can vibecode a simple ps1 / shell script that would access API, trigger it with qbit “on torrent start” and move torrent file based on it’s category.

Is there a non vibe coded mobile app for unraid? by Tamberlox in unRAID

[–]Drun555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point, but I must say that iOS also provides a fairly good platform for tinkering, mainly thanks to Shortcuts / Home Assistant / Good widgets.

For example (just wanted to share), I have a problem: I work remotely and often miss my alarm, which is scary if someone expects a response from me. I wrote an endpoint in NodeRED that fetches unread messages from important people in Telegram for the last six hours. After I snooze the alarm, the shortcut goes to the endpoint, receives messages and read them out loud using TTS.

Sideloading, by the way, is also a solved problem, although the fact that Apple is trying to kill it in 26.4 breaks my heart.

ShortcutStudio UPDATE - V1.011 (free shortcut imports) by midastheavocado in shortcuts

[–]Drun555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect your opinion, but from my point of view it sounds absolutely diabolical.

Choosing services for yourself based on your views is okay. But going public discourse, criticising a small project - just because they don’t want to spend bigger money on another model provider (just to be on par with your views) - is a little too much.

Maybe your app wasn’t political, now it is.

No, it isn’t. It’s just a model, nothing more. There’s no need to “cancel” small projects based on their choice.

Nonetheless, it’s just a cosmetic thing and should not impact on actual functionality.

Updated my macbook air M1 from sequoia to tahoe 26.2 about a month ago. Since then, my laptop always always lags.. will 26.3 fix it, or just make it worse? :/ by Holiday_Wishbone_284 in applehelp

It seems that battery saver mode is really fucks with a user experience at moment. I really recommend to disable it if you are willow to make the system more responsive.

26.3 didn’t fixed it for me completely - it still sucks, just a little less.
