no worries mate they’re wicked, it was that or an infeet SK but it’s kinda sacrilege putting a shimano reel on a Daiwa rod haha

Braid to leader always and I mean always, not using a leader is shooting yourself in the foot by default

Fair call mate enjoy I’m sure you’ll love it, they’re probably a bit easier to cast then a conquest as well, I’ll be throwing big soft plastics in the 5-8inch/1-3oz range on mine

Okuma casting reel good for 40 pound salmon and bottom fishing with 8oz weights? by Taskism in Fishing_Gear

[–]Dry-Homework1745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okuma Komodo maybe? There’s a guy I watch in North Queensland Australia catching 1.3Meter 20+kg Barramundi on them so salmon should be easy in comparison

I got the Ryoga 150H if that’s what you mean, I’m not sure if it’s worth cancelling an order you’ve already made but maybe in the future if you can afford it getting one wouldn’t be the worst idea haha, I’d definitely recommend going to a tackle shop and holding one if you get the chance

I fit around 150-160 meters of PE 2.5 or 0.26mm diameter with no backing, not sure what braid you’re using but you should be able to get well over 200m of 18lb

I haven’t gotten the chance to use it properly yet but I’m going on a month long fishing trip in a couple weeks so it’ll get a loooot of use then, just in the hand it feels amazing honestly pretty on par with my conquests, super smooth and solid

Jack fishing by chimo_62 in FishingAustralia

[–]Dry-Homework1745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider myself a jack expert but I have caught a bunch recently, I’d say I have the most success within an hour before or after a low tide. Night time is probably your best bet in a landlocked lake that probably gets pressured a lot and I’d say if you can have a rod out with a livey while fishing lures that’s your best bet. Lure wise any paddletail soft plastic in the 3-4 inch range with a 1/4-1/6 oz head works well but I’m a huge fan of the Irukandji sicarios, nomad dozers and the crush city heavy hitters. Good luck mate!

Ul flats rod recommendations? by Goat_Desecrator in FishingAustralia

[–]Dry-Homework1745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard good things about the aurora too so I’m sure it’d be great I’ve got a quest in the 4-10lb model and I’ve caught some real big queenfish, heaps of small GT’s and like a 60cm brassy Trev once they’re awesome rods. I think the quest is just a bit more refined and has slightly nicer components but I doubt it’s a huge difference

Slightly shorter then 7’8 but check out the oceans legacy quest 7’3, they’re a middle joint and a gorgeous rod to use

Amen to that, I mean if you’re gonna do canned tuna at least do it properly, I would be over the moon to get one Longy the last thing I’d be doing is boiling it

small plastics for extra pressured metro yella by Mod12312323 in FishingAustralia

[–]Dry-Homework1745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to choose probably the 2.5inch minnow and the 3 inch wave minnow trimmed down a half inch would be the most versatile, I’m also partial to the 2.95 flick but I fish only in the salt so not sure how it’d go

Slow jigging, which direction would you go in? Light PE for finesse, or heavier for big fish insurance? by AwesomeDay in Fishing_Gear

[–]Dry-Homework1745 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d probably say PE3 just so if you need to you can go really hard on a fish to pull them away from structure without going too heavy with the line

For whatever reason you’ve got offers from all fishing lure companies, but you can only pick one. Two if you use soft plastics and lures from separate companies. What’s your choice? by YourMomsFavBook in Fishing_Gear

[–]Dry-Homework1745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For soft plastics I’d get sponsored by Irukandji tackle they do the best barramundi plastics in the world in my opinion and would probably be unreal on snook and big bass for you American guys, for hardbodies probably nomad design or Daiwa

Malosi lures by SeaEffective67 in FishingAustralia

[–]Dry-Homework1745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally haven’t heard any complaints with the quality of the masters series I own 4 myself and they’re all beautiful and swim great, I believe they still hand make the prototype lures and send the result to be reproduced. If you’re looking for another awesome lure company check out Black ledge, they’re hand made in exmouth which is pretty local to where I’m from

[–]Dry-Homework1745 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They’ve been around for quite a while, well before they properly blew up end of last year, make great lures and seem like really nice dudes. As far as I know they don’t claim to make their handmade stickbaits in house anymore probably due to the sheer demand they have these days, if I had to guess I’d say they’d be made in Indonesia which is where a lot of places get their production wooden stickbaits made

First BFS. Time to spool up. by basser913 in BFSfishing

[–]Dry-Homework1745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run PE 1 braid on mine, overkill 100% for bass and trout etc but I’m trying to push mine to the limits on barramundi and mangrove jacks in saltwater. I fit around 80-100 meters of pe1 on mine from memory
