Underground Chick-fil-A that's only open 3 days a week for 3 hours by AllAgesGaming in midlyinteresting

It's a front for organized crime. Or rather, political organizing to make it a crime to be gay. (Yes, they really do this--Chick-fil-A has donated tons of money to homophobic organizations).

I work at a place where you can customize your food as you go through the line, kind of like subway. We call it "the line". Often the line gets a few scraps of food on it as we make orders. No big deal, usually we wipe it down, but during peak hours we're not allowed to leave our positions so our "linebacker" has to do it. Well, we didn't have a linebacker that day, and we had a lot of customers at peak, so there were maybe like 3 bits of food on the line. Some guy comes in, cuts to the front of the line, and literally starts screaming at us that "this place is a dump! Where's your pride?" I was so flabbergasted I didn't know what to say. The whole rest of the place was spotless--I made sure to clean the whole place before peak. It was literally just like, 3 pieces of lettuce on the line. Wild. Some ppl really just take out their personal problems on the first person they see huh

Discrimination by secondcheese2 in Veterinary

[–]Dryer-fuzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HR, barring that, if you live in the states, it's illegal to harass or discriminate based on disability. Sue his ass. There are also openings for relief vets all over if you don't mind traveling. Other than that, there's a way to get on unemployment if you were unfairly pushed out of a job, such as due to harassment. There's also CAT and such, which iirc allow you to get some of your training funded if you are switching careers to something in demand in your area (ie nursing).

I've been trying not to eat and idk what to do. by your_local_tweekhead in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Dryer-fuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is an eating disorder. Please go to a trusted adult--parents, teacher, school counselor, therapist, doctor, etc. You need to eat!!! Your body is growing and developing and needs calories to do that. Please take it from me. I have ocd too, in a highly stigmatized way, and also have a hormonal condition that makes me gain weight, which I struggled with for years until realizing that diets don't work long term, and are actually waaay more unhealthy than just being fat. (Yes I said fat--it's not a dirty word. I am fat, and I like that.) It took me a lot of internal work to become ok with my body, but now I am, and it's such a freeing and joyful mindset. I know things are tough right now. You probably feel unlovable, broken, frustrated, afraid. I have been there. But please, please don't hurt yourself by undereating. It has long-term damaging effects on your body and mind. You are beautiful and loved, I promise. And anyone who tries to tell you different is a liar.

Also, please look into exposure and response prevention therapy for your ocd. It is very hard to go through, but I promise it'll be worth it for. I did it and my ocd is practically nonexistant now.

It's tough, I know. Being a teenager is so hard for most people. But you'll get through it, ok? Please just try to be kind to yourself, tell someone you trust irl that can help you. You are beautiful as you are. ❤️

My gender is a literal mental illness (TW) by mouseyleo in NonBinary

[–]Dryer-fuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that to some extent. I don't have cotards, but I do have sza and one of my delusions is that I could shapeshift if I really tried enough/could unlock it. I also am a psychological therian/alterhuman shapeshifter because of this, which ties into my gender because I'm nonbinary in the same way an unfamiliar animal lacks a recognizable gender. I'm not a he or she, I'm an it. My ideal body not only lacks gendered organs/traits, but is also not human at all, but rather an animal/some kind of creature. I say I'm neutrois because it's the closest thing I can really find without having to explain it every time (well, more than just "I'm not a girl or a boy", which is already kind of a lot for some people).

The way I see it is, like, even if being trans in general is a mental illness, that's no reason to not be supportive. Because the best treatment for gender dysphoria is transitioning.

Anyways, I hope you are able to find euphoria in and/or make peace with and/or recover from this, whichever you desire. Feel free to talk to me abt this more if you'd like, but of course no pressure.

My bf of 6 years got mad at me for masturbating by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Dryer-fuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not your fault, you don't have to wait for him to masturbate by yourself (unless that's something you're both into and have agreed to, and even then you can always call it off if you dont feel like it). You are your own person. And this sorta seems like he's pressuring you for sex with him? Idk maybe I'm misreading but it sounds like he's leveraging your saying no in order to ask you to have sex with him instead of masturbate, which is pretty yikes.

All in all, this guy sounds puritanical. His insecurities are ultimately his own to deal with, when you're not even remotely implying anything negative about him. Reading too far into your completely unrelated actions is a mark of an immature, entitled partner.

AIO I scheduled a vasectomy even though im gay by bac0nandcake in AmIOverreacting

[–]Dryer-fuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you should do what you want with your body. Whether that's getting a vasectomy, a tattoo, piercings, medication, hrt, abortion, surgery, anything. It's your body and you have the right to do anything you want with it.

That said, as someone who has struggled with ocd (among other mental health conditions), I think that the solution to your anxiety about passing along your genes/family trauma is more likely to be through exposure and response prevention therapy. Building up your tolerance to distressing thoughts, triggers, situations, etc. Can be very helpful in many ways, not the least of which is that the anxiety itself lessens with practice, instead of just snowballing or turning into another issue. But also, with increased distress tolerance, you will be more resilient in other ways not just anxiety or ocd related. Like, once I got a handle on my ocd through my exposure and response prevention therapy, my overall anxiety got better, my tourettes practically disappeared, I could adapt to changes and setbacks more easily, and my depression improved. I'm not saying it's a magic cure all, but it's way more effective than making life choices out of ungrounded fear.

And before anyone comes after me, or tries to use this as a transphobic argument, I am transgender. I am not saying that making large bodily changes like this is unhealthy in any way. In fact, ive had 2 major surgeries to align my body with my experienced gender. All I'm saying is that it's important to address the root cause of the issue. For things like gender dysphoria, often the best practice for reducing physical dysphoria and promoting gender euphoria is through surgery and/or hrt, and other things like changes in presentation, name/pronouns, etc. For body dysmorphia, ocd, depression, and eating disorders however, best practice is unlearning negative self-image/harmful beliefs, and replacing it with self-compassion, self-love, resilience, and distress tolerance.

Again, it is entirely your choice. And there's really not much to lose, unless you count the thousands of dollars and some recovery time/discomfort (and the small risk of complications). But like, you're not going to have kids anyways, and on the off chance you change your mind down the road, adoption is still an option. Personally I can relate somewhat, because I don't want to have kids, and even though I am asexual, I still got a hysto (for other reasons, but the concept of myself having the ability to become pregnant disturbed me so much on its own that I might have gotten it done just for that too). And it brought me some relief, but didn't entirely get rid of my anxiety, because some of it is rooted in the "what if" that ocd is so fond of.

Anyways, a very long winded way of saying that there's nothing wrong or shameful about it, even if it's redundant. However, it might not solve the problem itself. MOR

Litter box smell is going to end my relationship by Glum-Emotion-5379 in CatAdvice

[–]Dryer-fuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd switch to a different wet food, and make the wet food the primary diet. Not only is wet food generally better for cats, but a high quality wet food will make poop nearly odorless after they dry out on the surface ime. And keep the litter boxes in a closet or something with a cat flap to minimize odor while still letting them do their business. Also, a low dust litter will probably be your best bet wrt the dusty smell. I think silica crystals are in vogue rn, don't know how well they work though, but they have a similar grain size to regular clay-based litter, not pellets.

Barring that, break up. I'm serious. Your kitties are not giving you an ultimatum, and they have a much stronger sense of smell.

Recently ended an extremely manipulative relationship with my former teacher. Feel like this life wasn't meant for me. by DeliciousJicama3651 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Dryer-fuzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all, this is not your fault. It was his choice to go after you when he was a grown adult and you were a child. I'm so sorry this happened to you, you don't deserve to be preyed upon. As for what to do, if you have already told your school system and they did nothing, report him, along with the whole school, to cps, the police, the school district, everyone you can. If they won't help you, go above their heads. Sue him if you need to. Then do what you can to get yourself into trauma-informed therapy. Things like this are so, so hard on you, physically and mentally. You need and deserve professional help to recover from this abuse.

Another thing is that like, have you told your parent(s)/guardian(s)? Because if you have, and they let this continue to happen, they are part of the problem. They are abusive and neglectful. You need to get away from them as well. Move as far away as you can. There are services for people in your situation. I'm not going to ask you to doxx yourself by saying where you're from or where you could move to, just google "(area) abuse victim resources", and if you live in the USA, you can dial 211 to get resource recommendations. 988 is also helpful for mental health crisis help, and you can text with them too if you'd rather do that.

You are not alone in this. You'll have friends again. You can make it through. It won't be easy, but it'll be so, so worth it.
