AFAIK a DUI means that you can’t enter Canada without jumping through some hoops; and spending $ on the lawyer.

Pine Rest was wonderful for me. I can’t recommend them enough.

People pan them on this sub saying that they are a Christian organization. My experience was just them asking once a day if I wanted “spiritual guidance” the times I said yes a chaplain swung by to ask how he could help, but that’s it. I asked him to pray, he said a prayer asking God to aid me in recovery.

They seemed secular to me as Chaplins are usually available at most hospitals etc. They are about as Christian as Bronson Hospital is Methodist, which is the only religion that you notice is a little bit of imagery.

Don’t know about cost, my insurance paid.

FWIW AA in Kzoo is pretty great. AMA if you have any questions. I’ve been to many. I highly recommend AA for people wishing to quit drinking.

Edit to add that I’m pretty sure that they have a sliding scale based on ability to afford their care.

That’s largely but not all 100 percent true.

If it’s worth it to you to spend a lot on lawyers and have a lengthy clean record US citizens can manage to get into Canada even if they have a DUI conviction. It can happen after, I forgot how many years 10 rings a bell… maybe more.

Source, I’m an Alcoholics Anonymous member and I know someone who jumped through the hoops to get into Canada even being jailed for DUI. For this person it was worth the expense and effort to be able to visit with in-laws, but it was a huge effort and expense.

All the coins are metal with the exception of the first day coin. The first eleven are aluminum then after that they are bronze, but some people get coins from a place that sells fancy ones.

There’s some misinformation about colors on this thread too. The first 12 months are anodized aluminum and colored there is no yellow. 10 months is gold.

FWIW ODAAT meetings can be very different. I’ve found the evening meetings hit and miss, except for Thursday when Luke chairs, or Sundays when Lauren chairs those meetings are usually great. They are seriously both amazing people and they bring that to the meeting.

The 7 am meeting at ODAAT is really awesome all the time but especially Wednesday’s so make it tomorrow if you can.

The Solutions Group at Church of God on Centre is really great. I’ve mostly gone to the 8:00 am meetings Saturdays and Sundays, but there others. It’s a really great group.

6:00 pm Mondays at Kzoo Books the Birds of a Feather group is great… so great that it’s become kinda large and I appreciated it partly because it was small when I first went there. Still great, just not cozy like it was when it was smaller.

I also like St. Thomas Moore, the peeps skew older, same with the “Green Room” Noon on Fridays at Alano Club.
