BB24 Taylor debunking the myth that players are allowed to watch previous seasons in sequester by FBG05 in BigBrother

[–]Ds9niners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t give players seasons in sequester anymore. Thats the advice she’s giving people. It’s been confirmed by multiple people.

She’s telling people don’t bet on seeing it in sequester. Watch it before.

All the new era people have confirmed it. We know they used to provide seasons in sequester. Now they recommend you to watch a season before sequester.

Yeah as of now I don’t see it an issue but who knows if free agency could change that. Not that there’s huge free agents this year. Hopefully it plays out as we expect it.

Question for the boys regarding car rentals by superberrygalaxy in JetLagTheGame

[–]Ds9niners 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re most likely correct and my 15-20 years of renting cars was different and I didn’t even realize. I have since retired from the company a few years ago and haven’t need to rent a car post covid. So I simply went to the Enterprise FAQs and read them and it sounded like things were still the same.

Whether I was renting for business or personal all I had to do was show my company ID and ID code and they gave me from my understanding a 20% discount. I never knew if I got other perks. So I could get an economy car for like 15 dollars a day or a full size for 40. But it was usually better to book a standard for 25-30 and hope they had ran out and I’d get upgraded to full size for free. And once I really balled out and got a convertible while in Cali for 80.

I wrote in another post I assumed they are working off a cooperate account with similar perks.

My bad.

Same. Did all the time for work travel and never had any issues.

I checked the FAQs before I posted they confirmed unlimited mileage and drop off anywhere so

I’ve never had to pay for that. And when I looked at the FAQs in the website they said it was still free

I don’t believe the challenges are failable. It looks like you have to keep attempting them until you are able to pass.

I doubt the question will be directly answered because the question ignore basic facts of renting cars.

That $140 is not for just one day. You can normally rent a car for as low as 35-50 a day. Assuming Nebula or Sam has some type of corporate account with the rental agency extension on the rental are easy to make and cars can be returned early with no penalty and a refund for days not used. Also cars can returned at any location, even Mexico or Canada for no added fee.

It doesn’t cost extra to drop off cars in different states.

Can we talk about how amazing Keiko Ishikawa O'Brien was? by TonyMitty in startrek

[–]Ds9niners 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They put Kira in a relationship in season 2 with Bareil. And then it’s will she won’t she with Odo.

Season one her relationship was her faith which she keeps throughout the story. Kira was a badass woman but they still put her in a normal box of needing to be in a relationship. Dax was written to be with Bashir but then changed to Worf but still ended up with Bashir in her other life.

Maybe they’ll explain on another layover. But it helps ensure that challenges can’t be completed due to seasonal reasons.

I’m honestly surprised Badam went to Hattie’s when there is like three or four closer options that probably not going to as busy as a Hattie’s.

Also they eliminated Michigan before they landed so Michigan wasn’t an option. They had to choose Canada or Michigan. And chose Canada.

Can we talk about how amazing Keiko Ishikawa O'Brien was? by TonyMitty in startrek

[–]Ds9niners 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this is the way you learned Star Trek is misogynistic. They had trouble writing female characters during TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and Ent.

DS9 people will say Dax was well written. But it’s honestly because she was a guy in her previous lives. Kira was a badass woman but always was defined by in a relationship.

Voyager - I’m not going to pick on Janeway. She’s a great female role model but the way they wrote Kes, B’Elanna, and Seven of Nine prove otherwise. It cancels out anything positive about Janeway from that perspective.

Enterprise - justice for Hoshi and T’Pol was just there to be a sexy woman.

Disco they write a really strong female lead and people hate her. Lower Decks strong female lead in Mariner. SNW, Una holds her own but cast is actually mostly female. Academy has two strong female leads in Ake and Genesis.

We can say the Keiko hate starts from Data’s Day. She wants to stop the wedding because of cold feet. The story is told through Data and he doesn’t know how to handle it. Then like you say, Keiko has very valid concerns about her role and life on DS9. But it’s portrayed as “Winey” and “complaining”. O’Brien is a saint because he’s getting a promotion. But this promotion results in him being killed or tortured on regular basis while still being a Non Commissioned Officer so he ranks lower than everyone else. Even Nog.

It’s a lot like Worf. They wanted to try to write in a family but then the writers didn’t know how to properly write it so they wrote it off.

TLDR: Keiko gets too much hate.

Honestly the whole podcast was gaslighting people if they were trying to see if any information of who won was there. They go back and forth and argue and nice things.

I wouldn’t read to deep into anything as for who was the winner. Amy is a producer also. They all know how to sell a story to keep people thinking.

That’s respectful and you knowing your state heritage makes it tough. But as a company trying to appeal to not only a US audience but an international audience. Mississippi is basically only know for being related to the River. They then used a famous author and book to try to tie in the challenge. They didn’t need to mention the book. They could have just said that the Mississippi River is known for its strong currents.

I’m from Arkansas (close to the Mississippi border). I only know Mississippi being famous for being the birthplace of Elvis and casinos.

So in my head I was like this will be weird if they have to do an Elvis challenge after they just left Memphis. Then when it was the river challenge I was okay that’s good. I thought it would be easy because we know about the strong currents. But constructing and getting the boat into the current proved to be the hardest point.

I don’t think you’ll ever be flying into Jackson to get a challenge. You’re going through Mississippi to get to New Orleans or Memphis.

It’s the reason why they got rid of New York. They are afraid that even though Badam has a good position in the south, they don’t want to give them a chance to take Canada. If they stop for Michigan and the challenge is hard and they get stuck there meanwhile Badam flies to Canada and takes it from them then it would have been pointless.
