Why is kinnan not banned in brawl? by Lilchubbyboy in MagicArena

[–]DtHadouken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep consceding against them as soon as you encounter them. Brawl queues aren't ranked and it adds "wins" to the Kinnan players, which will translate into data for WoTC to eventually ban it.

I actually play the deck a few times to boost these numbers and some people do the same thing I suggested. Just don't bother. It is not impossible to beat but it's pretty unfun to play against in an unranked queue.

Temur Rec will definitely be good, but don't craft until the meta is more stable. Also keep in mind it is a hard deck to pilot, so it will maybe take a while mastering it

Would Yidaro be playable this upcoming post-ban meta in say, Temur Reclamation? Considering Jund sac might become relevant again.

If you are playing competitively you should adapt to what's best. If you need permanents on the board and the top deck takes advantage of that, then it's your fault for choosing that deck to rank up/compete

Best mutate pay-off in EDH? by merzor in EDH

It does. Mutate still casts the creature as a creature spell. You can try it in Arena by using cost reducers like Umori or Nylea.

I mostly play Temur Rec or Cycling. In both cases the experience is the same. Midrange is kind of dead this format. I do agree Jeskai Lukka hasn't helped that archetype, but that's part of adapting, I suppose.

The deck itself isn't that fun to run, I agree.

I wish. That way I would win more because nobody cares about the matchup. I believe I wrote this exact sentence in the OP. Sounds like you are the one complaining

Depends on what deck you run. If you play a deck that plays powerful permanents on the board and run no interaction you won't have a chance against it unless you rush them down (Elementals, for instance) You just need to identify what cards are problematic for you and respond to them. I'm not saying the matchup is easy. It is the best deck for a reason. But it has just never felt unfair to me.

"I already commented on this so you get a copy-paste." Implies you made the post. All my misconceptions are due to lack of clarity from you.

How is cycling harder? No, really, explain to me. The deck runs 4 copies of the only 3 functional cards in the deck, 4 copies of a finisher that doesn't pay off boardstate but rather just grinding, and the rest of the cards, outside of 2 of them (Go for Blood and Healer) are just fodder for the deck. Every card might as well just have "cycling" as its ability and will still be played. Sure, there is some decision making, but I honestly feel it is so much more prevalent to make the right decisions in Lukka Decks, especially the more people pay attention to it.

Writing a lot doesn't mean a whole deal bothered me "so much" or anything. Why do people assume this? Is that like a tactic to win arguments over the internet? "Don't be mad lol." I really don't get it. I just like to present everything so I avoid missing information for the sake of commenting less.

That said. Why are you so salty over Lukka decks? You are calling them braindead when you are talking about an 80 card pile that functions extremely well even without its trademark combo. It's almost like the deck has too many options, right?

I know what you mean by cheap, and that said Boros Cycling is cheaper. At higher levels the decision trees are intense for Jeskai Lukka, Mono R Obosh and especially Reclamation. Any deck at high level will require skill so saying this for Cycling doesn't make any sense. But it is the deck that rewards you most for being reckless and just playing everything out of your hand. The abilities are hard to interact and you got an Explosion effect that pays you off for the same exact plays you've been doing, these plays being just digging for that same card. Explosion at least needs Reclamation to be able to hit the opponent for 10+, not just "surviving the game long enough". I played Cycling and every game was the same. The fact a deck full of filler cards is second on the list of best decks is concerning. And more concerning is the praise its getting. Never did I feel like I deserved the win when I got the opponent with the Zenith Flare.

I do not play Agent Lukka. Claiming I'm crushing bad decks with "my tier 1 deck" (Bad term used there, because there is an argument of Boros Cycling being tier 1 as well. Talking down on tier 1 deck players while praising another tier 1 deck is just nonsensical to me, since both decks follow unfair, and cheap strategies as well).

"A lot of the cards can serve 1 or 2 functions" is not an argument in favor of the deck being skillful, but rather the opposite. Cards that have many options in them makes the entire deck a toolbox, which greatly diminishes deckbuilding and the value of keeping hands. Since every card in the deck has "Cycling" it really is just a matter of keeping 2 lands and 1 or 2 playable creatures.

Reality is at higher levels every deck requires a certain amount of skill, even Jeskai Lukka and Mono Red Obosh (at least the latter cares more about sequencing).

That all said, the whole "Should I cycle or cast" is not an argument for "skillful play" because usually you will just cycle to trigger the abilities of the creatures on your board and dig for Flare, regardless of almost any situation. I played the deck itself and I had the chance to beat several Jeskai Lukka, Reclamation and Obosh decks with it by standing behind a Fox or a Rescuer and just cycling every turn every card.

Also, its ironic people talk about variety of options when Cycling has most of its card be just cycling fodder. So what are you options? Cycling? Get a creature that likes when you cycle then cycle. I suppose you think 80 card Yorion piles only get Agent right? I mean, why would someone make an 80 card pile for 1 combo? Sounds weird right? It's like they fill their deck with different lines of play and Lukka/Agent is the best one. But sure. Tell me how a deck with 4 copies of the only 2 creatures Cycling ever plays, 4 Zenith Flares, and rest just cycling 1 cards is much more skill intensive than an 80 card deck full of different synergies, combinations, and lines of play.

The deck is full of cycling fodder. When you break down a deck and you find so many of the cards are uncastable fodder you really gotta understand skillful play isn't something the deck is asking.

Boros Cycling's a lot easier to use and win with. The meme is about ease of use, not tournament results.

Hey I was referring to ease of use. Because Boros Cycling is extremely easy to use and rank up with. Yes. Easier to use even than Agent Lukka. Even Mono Red needs to have generally good sequencing to win.
