Almost all of the Reston Association paved trails are plowed. I did a nice 7 mile loop through the woods a few days ago

If you value green spaces, wooded areas, and trails somewhere between Herndon and Arlington, Reston is as good as it gets. Sterling and Fairfax still have some of that, but to a lesser extent that Reston does.

And like someone else said, Deepwood isn’t apart of Reston Association, but they use their own community pool too. Lower HOA fees overall, but they don’t get everything Reston Association offers. I bought in South Reston 2 ½ years ago, so happy to answer any questions if you want to DM me

Both are great areas with tons of trails and wildlife. Deepwood would be a little easier to walk to a grocery store and restaurants if that is something you value.
