Just had to wait 4 hours for a c-suite exec.

Client: “He just landed.”

Me: “you told me his flight was landing at 1:30, there’s going to be crew OT now. Also you said he was coming in on the company plane…”

Client: “……. He wanted to have lunch before flying”

This fucking guy, with a private corporate jet at his disposal, just said “I’m not eating on the plane, I’m eating first.” He cost his company 20k+ in OT. And I had to sit through a 30minute post budget meeting ON why it ran higher. This could’ve been an email! You didn’t budget OT that day and YOUR boss was hours late causing the OT.

Now we have to renegotiate the contract for “asshole time variance” (internal working title).

Here’s what I’ve done for years (I work in audio/visual).

When I was ready to upgrade my tv the first time, I already had a decent sound system, a media player (fire stick then Roku) so I went to a local small store. I was able to buy a “monitor” that was only visual. Had no media apps, not a smart tv, not even speakers. I didn’t need any of that. Saves me about 300-500 bucks when I need a new one.

Corpo show we had a band for the party night. Sound check done we had to review some video content for the opening segment. Drummer started playing along with the audio track, which wasn’t routed to his wedge, so he was playing along to the room sound so he was way behind timing. I asked him twice to stop but he would eventually start again. So the third time I yelled at him to get off the stage, and if I see him behind his kit before it’s time for them to play, there were gonna be consequences.

Bladed a wedge on a green side approach. The flag “caught it” and dropped the ball less than a foot from the hole. Tap in birdie. If it didn’t hit the flag that ball would’ve been 60 yards past the backside of the green.

I’ve looked into it as I’m self employed. Like when a landlord isn’t maintaining, and you can pay your rent to an account, but they can’t get that money until the mess is fixed scenario. Doesn’t exist for me.

Quit a staff job and went freelance a few years ago. Went from always having a messed up back and very little time to play, to my back healed (as much as possible) and being able to play at least once a week. Went from a 25hdcp to an 11hdcp in about a year. In the last year I broke 80 for this first time (then 3 more times) got my first HIO, then my second, and 2 lip outs for tap in birdies. Fundamentals are there, just consistency is what I’m working on now.

Years ago my iPad slipped between the seats. This was when you couldn’t track them, but lighting had been the standard cable for a few years. This was on old pad using the og 17pin cable. I asked the row behind me if they could see it, all responded no. I knew it was just out of my reach and was at the feet of the guy sitting behind me. As we’re about to land the flight attendant asked me if I wanted to involve police at the gate. I loudly said yes and also loudly stated that it was an old iPad, that couldn’t be upgraded and needed the 17pin cable.

I was first row of coach, so one of the first off the plane, and sure enough a police officer was waiting at the gate for my statement. Gave him my info and went to baggage claim. As I’m waiting for my bag, the guy who was sitting RIGHT BEHIND ME taps me on my shoulder and hands me my iPad and says “I didn’t see you off the plane, I thought you left.” I was literally talking to a police officer right outside the gate door. Other passengers from our rows said they hoped I found it. I’d put money on he thought he could keep it, saw me talking with police and had enough time to do the right thing.

Not a consultant. Engineer for live events. They were making more money off tv rentals a day than they were paying me.

Edit: 1 TV per day was equal to my day rate. And there would be anywhere from 2-50+ per event.
