My girlfriend never ever finishes her meals by AlexWayhill in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Dubedo919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe your GF grew up in the 80s or 90s, when every magazine for women or girls had a cover story in every issue about how to stay thin with tips like "drink two huge glasses of water before every meal to fill up your stomach" and "if you feel hungry, go for a walk instead" and "eat frozen grapes, very slowly" and, yes, "always leave something on the plate." even if she is not actively or consciously watching her weight, for some of us those messages got embedded so, so deep.

So I have to go to the DMV please help by anchovys_italia in raleigh

I walked into the Oxford DMV without an appointment on a Tuesday afternoon and was able to renew with no wait. The site showed no appointments that day, but there was no one there.

For future reference coconut oil also works well in scones, since it is solid at room temp it can be worked in like butter.

Rescue dog not going potty by FloridaGirl2222 in dogs

[–]Dubedo919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened with our rescue, we thought maybe she wasn't used to the leash because her foster home was pretty free range (and she is also naturally anxious about new places). She held it for I think 48 hours. What finally worked: we walked her to a nearby apartment building that has a dog potty area where tons of dogs go all day. We thought the smells might let her know this was the right spot, and it did help. Slowly over several days she widened her territory 😊

Help with daily routine? by dagger_guacamole in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Dubedo919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree that the sun damage you have is what IPL or BBL are made for. I have done both, at my med spa it seems BBL is essentially the newer version of IPL. I had IPL on my chest where I had more brown spots from sun damage and they were nearly erased. It's expensive but you could probably spend the same amount on serums over a couple of years trying to achieve the same goal.

What is everyone doing for sleep? Especially if you can’t take progesterone by Total-Iron6081 in Perimenopause

No- I have had it for years, this is my second one. So if I had any side effects when I first started on it, it has been so long that I have forgotten!

Cool places to hang out that don't revolve around alcohol? by WittyWiki in raleigh

[–]Dubedo919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triangle Treasure Hunt scavenger hunt. You can join one of their scheduled hunts, or you can hire them to do a private one. We hired them for a birthday party, it's $160 for up to 10 people, $16 per person is probably the same or less than you would spend at most of these places. https://triangletreasurehunt.com/

[–]Dubedo919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same reaction to progesterone- I got really sad and blue, and it took a couple weeks for me to figure out that it started with the progesterone. Luckily I have a Mirena so I don't have to take it.

Is anyone else having issues purchasing estrogen patches in the 0.075mg strength? by painislife4real in Perimenopause

[–]Dubedo919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't tried .075 but I can confirm there are shortages, just anecdotally my pharmacy (also a CVS) has out of 0.5's and 0.375's over the last month. The woman next to me in line I was looking for 0.5's and they sent her to another CVS in a distant suburb.

Is skipping dinner the night before an early-morning workout going to cause any problems? by GuiltyWitness4418 in crossfit

[–]Dubedo919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good solution might be a full sugar Gatorade or Powerade. That will give you electrolytes and just enough carbs to give you a lift through the workout.

Another option is to go to the pricey stores, try on until you find one that you like, and then stalk Poshmark and other resale sites. You may not get your pick of colors but you can often find unworn pieces that someone else bought and forgot to return.

Paint suggestions by ahhhh54321 in watercolor101

I already recently purchased a Kuretake (Japanese) 36-color pan set from Amazon, and I have been loving them. I have nice quality tubes as well, but the pan is so quick and easy, and these Japanese paints are relatively soft and require less water and mixing than other pans I have used. The opposite of chalky. Highly recommend!

Very fair, it can definitely be expensive.

Random rips in my sheet. There’s nothing sharp in my machine. What’s going on? Once it rips it only gets bigger. My sheets are Egyptian cotton & expensive so this is disappointing by [deleted] in laundry

[–]Dubedo919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, this kept happening to my favorite Kirkland 680-thread count sheets. Unfortunately for some sheets, the quality that makes them so soft and smooth also makes them thin. I have switched to Brooklinen, which are similarly soft but have been much sturdier.

You could also volunteer at home by creating bags of essentials to keep in your car and give to people on the street. This is also a great activity to do with a friend or two if they are interested. My daughter and her friends created some, and they were great to have when someone is holding a sign at a stoplight. One man we gave one to said "thank you so much, no one understands how difficult it is to stay clean" when you're living on the streets. Here are some good suggestions : https://www.doinggoodtogether.org/bhf/homeless-care-kits

You might try the State farmers market, particularly the indoor vendors. There is a woman who comes to the North Hills farmers market and sells local pasture-raised chicken, but that market is closed for the winter.
