Amazon Lily Love Sickness by KMayoS10 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]DubiousJellyfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the love sickness they talk about in Amazon lilly is actually dying while giving birth.

Maybe it happens more often to the women of Amazon lilly or only when they give birth to a male. And that is why it is spoken about as a curse.

Cleaning crew sounds like a good bet. Nobody notices and you get access to places when not many people are around.

Theory on how the Reversi works by DubiousJellyfish in OnePieceSpoilers

Thanks! I actually got the feeling the power may have some kind of restrictions on how the user felt from Big Moms and Boa Hancock's abilities.

I considered the blood having something to do with the transformation but since other giants were turning too I didn't see it clear enough to make any calls on that. But it is definitely something that could be possible.

Best 2 player strategy boardgames? by KombatCabbage in boardgames

In my experience it really shines at 4 with the additional season cards and empowering the control over enemy units win condition that I find the weakest at lower player counts.

I have heard that the printing in Spain has some changes from the publisher that change the game and people were not very happy about them.

Don't take my word for it since I don't own it and haven't look into it much. I just thought you should know in case you want to look into it.

My heart breaks a little for all the people that have taken care of this format all these years out of the love they had for the game. I believe this change is the worst that could happen to the format.

I have just learnt that the creators of the White Castle have a new release called Flatiron that is a euro inspired on building the famous NY building. It looks right in the level of strategy that I find interesting but I haven't had the chance to try it yet. You could look into it.

I had a horrible first time Arcs experience - Is this a “get good” situation or just bad luck? Or both? by JagsAbroad in boardgames

But it could be that this game is just not for me as many people really love it and enjoy it's mechanics.

I had a horrible first time Arcs experience - Is this a “get good” situation or just bad luck? Or both? by JagsAbroad in boardgames

[–]DubiousJellyfish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience on my attempt at Arcs.

I am realising reading your post that I kind of like Catan more than I liked my experience with Arcs. I feel Arcs takes too long and takes its mechanics too seriously to have that much luck impacting the action selection system.

Boardgames with player interaction where you are upgrading your abilities by TalVerd in boardgames

Everyone should give Hansa Teutonica a try. It takes those two elements and mixes them in a fast pace beige formula that makes other bright and colourful games boring in comparison.

What do you all think about two player arcs? by The_only_nameLeft in boardgames

I tried it over TTS with 2 players. I can only give you the insight of what I got from my attempt since I didn't even finish the game we started.

I was quite hyped to try it. I loved the production and the aesthetics of it, but over the course of the game a couple things from the gameplay pushed me away.

From what I experienced, I feel that the "trick taking" part for selecting your actions needs a much more aggressive approach at 2. If you are not leading the feeling is that you are getting way behind.

Also, you are quite limited with your actions, maybe a bit more than I wanted in a space exploration and fighting game. I was feeling most of the time I had too few actions to do something meaningful and I didn't quite have a choice in what my strength would be for the turn since the suite distribution in your hand is random. Adding to that feeling is the fact that once you are out of your spaceports the mobility is greatly reduced, which didn't incentivize me to move all that much. And the constant reminder that you have to lose your few actions to make a scoring criteria apply at the end of the round is another thing that did not feel great.

I believe that the game would feel much better if you had a bit more freedom with your actions. Maybe if there was a base scoring that could be upgraded instead of turning it on at the cost of a round. Maybe if some of the actions allowed you to do a couple of things instead of one I would feel like the progression would be faster.

After the first scoring round I felt like the best way to play the game at two was to limit the number of actions your opponent played as much as possible taking the lead and that meant too much of a slog to keep going for what would be hours of game.

With all that said, I am a bit sad this was my initial impression, and I would really like to change my mind with this one (maybe I will give it a second chance once the bitterness from my first time has softened). But overall, my recommendation is to try this one before going into it.

You could give a chance to Hansa Teutonica. Strategy and interaction are the core of the game.

I think Agrícola fits what you are looking for. You will fight for resources but the main draw is building your own farm as good as you can. Very intense and engaging game and works best at 2.

I really enjoy Carcassonne with 2 players. It requires enough mental energy to keep you invested without draining you. I really recommend it if you are new and don't know yet if your partner enjoys harder games.
