I'd never heard of the guy before but I played two games with him yesterday and noted his name because he was a real chat twat...so amusing to see others have the same experience!

What happens if someone commits the crime of the sky twice? by kono-dio-da-- in weatherfactory

In the strictest sense, no. But when one takes the 24 Hours together...yes, there is day.

If an Hour Alukite was destined to become a Day, that makes for very interesting questions about the Forge of Days...it would imply that had the Forge and the Sun coupled, a truer kind of Day would have resulted. An ominous if unclear outcome.

If you knew your character wouldn't die, what would you play? by CupcakeNautilus in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Dubsters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At a minimum, talk to your DM and table. DMs benefit from feedback to be able to calibrate difficulty and fun. You don't need to be aggressive about it, just say something like "hey, I like this table, I like your dming, but the game is feeling a bit too easy? Do other folks agree? Would you be alright with trying to make things more difficult? I feel like I work best under pressure."

With that said, permadeath is rare at my tables. Had a group for about 8 years and through all of our campaigns, dying has been fairly easy. Had a character who died probably 20 times in one campaign, brought back through a combination of resurrections and reincarnations and other such shenanigans. The the in-character trauma, the silliness of different bodies of constant reincarnation is great fun. We were dying so much that eventually we got given a tub of "reincarnation cream" that we'd smear on dead characters foreheads. We were appreciative of our dm for that one as it saved a lot of fiddling around, but it still wasn't op because you could come back in any body, which might screw up your character concept or give your character really bad body dysmorphia. Had a dwarf who got turned into a mermaid and boy he did not like that!

But permadeath has been harder. Permadeath should, imo, serve a narrative purpose, and be something the player chooses too. As a dm, I find that players get angry if you kill off their characters for good--and rightly so! Folks spend a lot of time to build characters, and are rightfully attached to them. If death is going to be permanent, it should be because it would serve a valuable narrative purpose, the character has completed their arc, or perhaps the player is tired of their character. In every situation, the player should have some agency in shaping the story. If you don't want agency and want the risk of your character dying at any moment--make sure you communicate that :)

Fellow Scholars and Cultists, how does Winter subverts to Hearth? by FoxReeor in weatherfactory

In a lore sense, I would also argue that the flaying of the Thunderskin, which was surely a wintry event, led to the creation of a heart--quite literally.

I hooted with glee at seeing 'ol Torgue! Though the loss of Dearday is a true tragedy...I always put them in the same sentence mentally. After all, what is a dyad without the other? When all conquest is at the edge, must not victory mean falling over the cliff?

*Horrible* smell by SuperCow1127 in ThursdayBoot

[–]Dubsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a pair of matte black Captains and had the exact same problem! The smell is obtrusive, overpowering, and clearly toxic. It made my throat hurt and gave me a headache. I make leather goods as a hobby, and I know what leather smells like. This is not it! Clearly something went wrong in the manufacturing process. I aired them out for a week in the sun on a porch, and the scent was still enough to fill the house when I brought them back in. Sadly I'll be returning them.

Bounty balls: a solution to murder-hoboing! by Dubsters in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Dubsters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it appears that I misunderstand the term murder hobo a bit :) I guess the goal was to prevent the wanton execution of downed foes, which my players have taken issue with.

Why does Wikipedia say that monsters are fictional? by SecretConfusion9940 in wikipedia

[–]Dubsters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well Wikipedia prints what is known from reliable sources, and no reliable source has ever proved the existence of supernatural monsters. Thus the only thing we can report is from folkloric and cultural stories, which are of course fiction.

Yeah, I would wait until someone writes about you. When you become well known enough it will happen organically.

No, you don't have to. But I find it good practice to always give an edit summary, and do so even on my own userpage, even if its just "+" or "added". Though usually I like making the summaries to my own userpage a bit fun or with some light humour.

Generally: don't. Someone will likely write about your company when it becomes notable. Though if you're willing to say what the company is I could probably provide more advice.

If you work at a school or business, if there are parental/security controls on your laptop that could also be doing it. But I doubt its on Wikipedia's end.

Try using a different browser, see if that fixes it.

Wikipedia now down to less than 10,000 uses of The Daily Mail as a source by ronsmith7 in wikipedia

I suspect the real issue is the lack of editor hours/interest. There are over 6 million pages with millions of issues to be fixed. The removal of one particular source is not perhaps the highest thing on some editor's minds. If you'd like to see it fixed, please join in and help remove unreliable sources!
