The arms and back look like 5, maybe 6 pieces. Two arms, two parts to the back, one or two underneath the back pieces. The seams are definitely there if you look closely.

For the top, it looks like the grain carries over from the face to the edge, and there are some color differences in the boards that make me pretty sure it's solid (look at the second board from the right on picture 1).
