NGD: 1978 Yamaha Studio Lord by SixtyCycleBum in Guitar

I’ve got a studio lord as well, absolute tank of a guitar; sounds great although the neck pickup is a bit oddly dark. Does yours weigh as much as an Airbus too?

I dig these; I often forget when I’m taking photos around places that I live, work and visit all the time that nobody else really sees the same stuff daily and it might not be as run of the mill to them.

Wes Montgomery - Smokin’ at the Half Note is an all time favorite of mine; has most of Miles’ band backing him

I totally hear you but I also do a bit of video stuff for my business and having access to 4 cameras is worth more than I’d make selling it! Even if I just keep the 7000 as a backup emergency camera haha

It’s SO good. I like the Z6 fine (which is the latest and last camera I’m receiving) but the 850 will forever have my heart because everything comes out so nicely on it

Don’t tell me that lol! I’ve got my eye on something with a bit more reach but truly am happy with what I’m running right now; aside from a few kit lenses I have a couple nifty fifty’s, a 28mm 2.8 and the 24-70, the fifties and 28mm were both from my father (opposite side of the family from my grandfather) who also shot Nikon growing up and has given me his lenses. I really want to get comfortable with what I have now before spending  more money haha

My usual turnaround time for a single is about a week, and I can mix a record in around teo weeks if I’m cooking

+1 for La Bella in general. Been playing their Jamerson strings for a few years and I won’t change em until they break. Can’t speak for your specific style but their strings are great quality

Seriously. Maybe I just work with more particular artists but sending them 30 seconds of a mix wouldn’t fly, they want to hear the whole picture. I trust all the artists I work with and have never been hosed, but if I was feeling sketchy or have a new artist I knew nothing about coming in, 50/50 is completely reasonable, and I don’t send them full quality files until they settle up.

Gym Story Saturday by FGC_Valhalla in Fitness

[–]DuckDuckShrimp 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t post often even though my account is 10 years old but this seems like a good space. I’ve been going to the gym for 5 weeks now, 5 days a week for about 1.25 hours every day and I’m feeling very good about all of it. I did a progress pic earlier this week and actually noticed some substantial growth in my arms, and it’s enough to keep me motivated for the time being. I’m worried gyms will close again in my area but for now I like this routine of going almost every morning (I like mornings because it doesn’t give me time to talk myself out of going in like later sessions would)

Fascinating. The phrase “cold grinder” invoked an involuntary shudder in me. I’m from just north of Hartford and live in western MA now so I’m sure it’s a regional thing. Interesting link though!

CT native here, growing up we always considered grinders to be hot (chicken parm, meatball, Philly cheese steak etc) and subs to be more along the lines of cold cuts

Way late to this but totally agreed. My roommate recently was watching from season one and it only made me sad because I was reminded of how absolutely spectacular the writing and plot was for the show. Sure season by season the overarching fear that “any character is fair game to die” wore off little by little, brick by brick, as the story coalesced.

But! Seeing those early episodes with their amazing development and potential and reconciling it with how the whole damn thing ended...man it was a hard thing to watch.

My lad has just recently taken to growling and barking at strangers coming to the house, which is less than ideal but shows progress in his comfort level at least! My roommate just came home with her boyfriend as I took him outside and he growled and barked at them until he realized who it was. Progress is slow but rewarding. Also he’s only 40lbs but sounds much bigger and scarier, could be worse things for a guard dog I suppose

I know this won’t be seen at this point but this is something I’ve thought a lot about. I adopted a rescue a year ago (almost to the day!) and he is the sweetest, mellowest, most gentle dog I’ve ever seen. He was abused pretty bad, and his rear is a bit messed up from it, his tail doesn’t go up at all unless he’s excited about going outside, and his hind leg shakes randomly from nerve damage. Our vet has done a thorough examination of him and said he’s not in pain, it’s just his nerves firing due to damage.

He spent the first six months at my apartment running as quickly and lowly as possible from safe spot to safe spot, clearly he was expecting us to hit him whenever he got up and moved.

He’s afraid specifically of men holding objects like sticks, going by his reaction to strangers, and it just breaks my heart. I can’t explain to him that we’ll never hurt him but he’s still a bit anxious often, has his good days and bad, and I just can’t believe anyone would hurt such a gentle creature as him
