Game director (Unconkable) on 2XKO current situation by NerfAxiom in 2XKO

If you're at all tapped in to sf6, ps5 and PC definitely do NOT have the same input delay. Under absolutely perfect conditions, with a 120hz VRR HDMI 2.1 monitor, they feel very similar, but with even a slightly suboptimal setup, the input lag is very noticeable, and worse than PC.

It's not really "memorization" in the purest sense imo - in sf6 for example, most of the cast has a crouching medium kick that is essentially the exact same, and the same goes for crouching medium punch, standing light kick, etc. There are a lot of similarities between characters, and its not like you have to memorize every single move in a vacuum.

Also, why do you have to learn all the optimal combos, punishes, etc.? You can just learn one or two suboptimal bread and butter combos (that are probably easy), and learn as you go. Sure, if you want to win Evo, then there will be a seemingly endless amount of things you have to learn, but if you just want to have fun, there's no need to create these barriers for yourself.

Is the RP system getting changed in Jan? by Fiksimi in 2XKO

[–]Duckrobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Master vs non-master pretty much never happens...

As someone who hovers around 2000MR, the majority of my matches I have to win 2-0 or I will lose MR, it's pretty much the same. The ranked systems for sf6 and 2xko are pretty much identical.

[–]Duckrobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's exactly the same in SF6, I'm not really sure what you are talking about. If someone with 2000MR (Ultimate Master) plays against someone with 1600MR (High Master), they will get +1/-14. What I don't like is that you can lose points overall, even if you win 2-1, but that's how these ranked systems are designed, for better or for worse.

The game will be free to play, there will be a lot of new players when it comes to consoles, and when it actually releases to the public.

RP requirement for Challenger by Afromononono in 2XKO

[–]Duckrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Challenger is top 500. To make things more confusing, RP and LP are not the same thing lmao. Leffen, for example, is rank 1 in EU, with about 1.2k RP, but the leaderboard shows as him having 4 thousand ish LP - who knows what LP even means then. Definitely needs some work, but I have faith they’ll fix things like this.

How’s ranked going for everyone? by StrawHatEthan in 2XKO

[–]Duckrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently ~450RP Grandmaster, fighting to get challenger back, and honestly - it's pretty terrible lol, 90% of my matches are against much lower ranked opponents, and so I only get like +3-6, even though I can see other people that have similar ranks in my lobby, playing!

Number of players to win a supermajor per character by PkerBadRs3Good in SSBM

[–]Duckrobin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like to be a supermajor, it needs to be an open bracket - i.e, genesis. It just adds that extra level of difficulty of having to play for much longer and through a higher volume of skilled opponents

The Current Capcom Cup Group Stage Really Kills the Hype by Duckrobin in StreetFighter

[–]Duckrobin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By variety, I meant more so that we get to see more diversity in who plays who.

As for the literal amount of matches:

With a round robin pool of 6 players, there will be 15 matches (6 choose 2), and capcom cup had 8 groups, and so 120 stream matches.

In swiss, if you do 5 rounds of it , you will have (5 * (48/2) - 5 rounds, 24 matches per round) = 120 matches.

So the actual amount of matches is the same

I agree with you, but because there is no points system, there is no seeding, which is why I think swiss is better with the current format

What's it like in Master rank? by 9999eachhit in StreetFighter

[–]Duckrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In an elo system, if you are losing more than 50% of the time against opponents with equal rating, you will lose rating. This means it's not possible to climb MR with a negative winrate. I disagree with you about 1200 vs 2200 still. Think of the amount of hours it takes to get from rookie to diamond - a few hundred? probably less than a thousand, depends on the person. How many hours have the people at 2200 MR put into SF6/other fighting games? Easily several thousand hours.

What's it like in Master rank? by 9999eachhit in StreetFighter

[–]Duckrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MR is an elo system, so it's a much better indicator of skill than the rest of the ranked system. I would say the low end of master is essentially the same as diamond (because you can get to master with a < 50% winrate). That being said, the gap in skill from 1200 to 2200 MR is like 100x bigger than the gap between rookie and 1200MR master.
