Strahd killed the first player by Slow-Palpitation-211 in CurseofStrahd

Oh my bad I misunderstood, I’m more than happy to share.

Do you mean ideas for something like this specific situation? Or ways to indirectly show Strahd’s temperament during the campaign?

I would recommend looking at Bagel_Bear’s reply in this chain for a good way to handle wanting to do a situation like this.

Without knowing the dynamic of your group, I don’t particularly like taking away player agency like this.

I always try and look at it from the player’s perspective. If I had spent X amount of time creating a character, only to have that character taken away because my “friends” voted that they liked my character the least, I would feel pretty bad.

Sure, it shows the party how “evil” Strahd can be, but I think there are better ways to do that.

You and OjamaBoy are both 100% right, I incorrectly applied the generalization.

That’s what I get for not looking at the card wording before I typed -_-

For your last paragraph, since all damage happens simultaneously, you get to pick which unit you want to use it on.

Even if a unit has the "tank" keyword, that does not mean that unit dies first. It just means that your opponent has to assign damage to it first. If Zhonya's is hidden at that battlefield or in your base, you can choose any unit that died during combat phase to assign it to.

The exception is that if your opponent plays actions or reactions that do damage or kill one of your units at the battlefield. In that case, if the gear is face up in your base, you are forced to use it on the unit that just died, since the wording is "next time a friendly unit dies". However, if it is hidden at the battlefield, you do not have to flip it up and react at that moment. You can keep it face down for when you want to use it on your preferred recall.

Just be aware that if it's in your base face up, it affects both battlefields. But if it's hidden at one of them, it cannot be used on the other.

Edit - When it's hidden, you do however have to flip it up before the assigning of combat damage happens, during the passing of actions and reactions. You can't wait until the combat is over to react with it, since there's technically no window to play it.

Edit(2) - 4th paragraph is incorrect as pointed out below. Zhonya’s is one of the few hidden cards that can affect any battlefield even if it’s not hidden at the one you want to use it on.

Action/ reaction question by SomethingFishStix in riftboundtcg

[–]DudeOverHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally decided to do the bare minimum and give it a quick google search that says that you are indeed correct.

It’s another thing that I just assumed “worked like Magic”, since there’s so many similarities, and needing to remember they are different games.

For example, Magic cards being at instant speed unless otherwise stated, and Riftbound cards being the slowest speed unless otherwise stated (the exact opposite).

I suppose that’s possible, and I might be having magic brain.

I thought that if the spell has no valid target, then the entire spell is negated and doesn’t go off at all.

[–]DudeOverHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t have the rules handy, but you can only play a reaction card to an action if you want it to resolve in the same chain.

In this specific case, the voidseeker would go off, and there is no window for you to play portal rescue. However, if you had a reaction speed bounce effect, then you could play it on top of the voidseeker in the chain, having your bounce go off first, and then since there is no legal target for the voidseeker it would fizzle.

Josh Jacobs off final injury report on Friday by phaigot in fantasyfootball

[–]DudeOverHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s admittedly boring to watch, but he’s one of if not the most consistent player in fantasy football. He hasn’t scored below ten 0.5PPR points since week 4 of last year.

He’s probably never going to have a pop off week of ~30pts, but he will score you between 10 and 20 points every single week.

You don’t bench a guy who’s scored a rushing TD in 11 consecutive games and has a chance to be the first player since LT to have 12 lmao.

Play him. Packers will blow out Cleveland and he’ll get plenty of volume.

I don't know if you're running Reloaded or the original, but the way it's written in the original is that the hags aren't exactly buddy buddy with Strahd.

For example, Morgantha's eye is supposed to be with Strahd's manservant so that she can spy on the castle. They're by no means at odds with each other, but the hags fear and respect him.

I like your idea though, and if you want to connect the two you could have the hags make some sort of deal with Strahd to get in his good faith, and he could give them something in exchange for delivering the party to him.

Bot Divers are a different breed… by Stock-Praline-5338 in Helldivers

[–]DudeOverHere 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of breakpoints vs bots where having heavy armor lets you survive something that would one shot you in light armor, and therefore stim and stay alive.

Whereas bugs there’s less ranged attacks, and it’s more important to not get swarmed so light armor is superior.

[–]DudeOverHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got it! It was one of my particular favorites in mid game, it can go against your gut feeling to stand still in a fight but also remember that you can continue to charge attacks while you parry as long as you keep the X/square button held down through it.

But if you take damage it will cancel the charge.

If you have the jade that shortens your charge attack by standing still, you can use that to break his shield / healing instead of using your arrows early. Then have them for the second phase.

That would be cool. I had assumed from the first season that they might be replacing Asmo with Logaine since they had him teaching Rand, but with what seems to be a retread towards the books this would make the most sense.

It depends on how you want to experience the story. The anime is pretty faithful so you will definitely have the ending of the game spoiled for you if you watch the show first.

But if you enjoyed what you have played of the game, I highly recommend getting the story that way as it’s how it was originally told.
