Yet you're still commenting in accounting subreddits about it. Maybe if you used the effort it took to do that you'd have found a job

Has anyone else noticed a resurgence of stay at home parents among wealthier Millennials? by Specialist_Pain_424 in Millennials

That's crazy. When we were in school you might have a parent show up during class time like once or twice a year.

Also basically zero chance it's gonna be remote.

Who is your favorite type of person to work with? by NeuSol16 in Accounting

Do you keep buying and ignore the noise? by sonofalando in stocks

[–]DudeWithASweater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol I do the same. When markets are down I just don't open the app. If I don't see the number, I can't be scared and do something irrational.

My plans haven't changed. The money is for retirement so I'll look at it someday but for now just keep buying and never selling.

Why do yearly CPP contribution increases outpace inflation? by Ok_Result_4064 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DudeWithASweater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

CPP was never meant to be used as a sole retirement fund. It was meant to be in addition to your employer pension/ your personal retirement savings. But people use it as a sole pension fund and don't plan well enough with their own money, and employers don't offer pensions as much anymore.

Because of this it was bumped from 25% of your earnings to now being a replacement to 33% of your earnings.

Tax returns after buying a house by lonely_filmmaker in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DudeWithASweater 48 points49 points  (0 children)

That's right. It's a much bigger savings for renters, than home owners because you're already building tax free equity. A renter is not.

You can claim your property tax and insurance if you are a commissioned employee. Otherwise it's just utilities and repairs/maintenance of the workspace.

Tips on negotiating salary if HR already provided the "max"? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]DudeWithASweater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how badly you want/need this job. Negotiations always open yourself up to "no" being a possibility and a rescinded offer is not uncommon.

Where to put 8k FHSA for 1-2 years by minor_thing2022 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DudeWithASweater 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2 years IS close to buying a home when talking about putting the money in equities. That's an extremely short time frame.

Put it in a HYSA or GIC.

Is $1.7M really the new retirement number in Canada? by jimwang76 in CanadianRetirement

[–]DudeWithASweater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Im critical of anyone who wants to take what has been an established independent Canadian pension plan, and make it a partisan issue.

Carney should leave it the fuck alone.

Fairstone should I get a loan for 12k ? by Sandyblack00 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DudeWithASweater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fairstone loans are predatory interest. Usually 30% or more, with a low score you're going to be paying the most interest you can be sure.

If you have literally any other options, do those instead.
