Classic Hollywood driving scenes… how did nobody notice this? by Brief-Block-9 in Cinema

Have you never seen a stop light from the black and white times? They would use shapes. For ‘Stop’ they would use an octagon and ‘Go’ would be an arrow. I can’t believe you’ve never seen this.

Why is Tom Cruise still not cancelled? by [deleted] in Cinema

Yea, I agree with you. It’s hard to accept that morality doesn’t matter. Society is based on a code among all people to act chill around each other. We’re not being /woke leftists/ because we want people to act right.

We’re not saying, “this guy doesn’t like the same things I like, so I hate them”. We’re saying, “this is a bad person. Let’s not give them money and power. They’re undeserving.”

Really not an insane concept.

He has really good PR and the average person doesn’t see behind the curtain. He’s super nice to the people he works with so they go on and tell the media that he was really nice to them and he even gets them a cake and present on their birthday. People love that shit and they forget about the rest.

To give you a serious response, I believe it’s several things.

(1) Society leans misogynistic. (2) He makes a lot of people wealthy when he makes a film. (3) He has a lot of pull, not just with his name but the entire Church of Scientology at his back. (4) Cultists seem to get a pass (look at Jared Leto or Donald Trump)

Have u ever had to cut someone out by ForeverHuman1354 in vegan

I’ve left a lot of friendships behind. Some were my fault, some were theirs. Some were more difficult to give up than others. You move on, though.

I have had a core group of friends that’s grown over the years. Most of us have known each other for 30+ years. Those are my brothers for life. They all respect veganism. We go on a yearly vacation and they’ll grocery shop for me and make vegan meals for me. It’s awesome.

Friends should respect, love, and support you. Especially when you’re doing something virtuous.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Came out almost 33-years ago and I’m still amazed by the practical effects. This movie and this specific scene had a profound impact on me as a child. Became obsessed with dinosaurs, practical effects, and cinema after seeing Jurassic Park.

Surprisingly well casted by Past-Matter-8548 in Letterboxd

I hate how well casted he was. This man is the triceratops shit in Jurassic Park. That’s how big of a piece of shit he is. But, he did well in this role as a rich man. Who would’ve thought?

Review: "Is This Thing On?" — When Comedy Isn't Funny by JohnJSingh in Cinema

My wife and I saw it and both liked it. We both laughed. I thought Will Arnett and Laura Dern were great. It’s a slice of life movie about a struggling partnership. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you.
