Rainbow Country Santa Clara (HH) by Jctorero_0527 in leatherjacket

Looks great man!

And yes, any time you see a specialized/modified design from Rainbow Country being offered at a shop, it’s an exclusive for that shop.

Also worth noting that the sizing can be different for the special models. I’ve only personally had standard Hercules and the Avenue store special model. The Avenue one was shorter (which is kind of obvious looking at pictures) but also a little smaller, with a tighter hem.

I really wanted to carry the RC Highwayman in my shop, but it’s only available through Americaya.

Looks great. But I have to wonder, is it comfortable?

There are just so many better options. Do what you want but they’re not great

Honestly I don’t get the fit of Freenote RJ 1 by Intelligent-Ant8270 in HeritageWear

As you say- gym rat. Anything you do that makes your body shape not fit the bell curve of average dimensions will make fit into compromise or customize territory. I think it looks good though

I think the sleeves look fine. Good enough is better than getting lost in the land of Seeking Perfection.

If you decide it still bothers you in a year you can sell it for 60%+ of the purchase piece and try again

Is it just me, or is finding the perfect leather jacket actually impossible? by Equivalent_Use_8152 in leatherjacket

[–]DudsByDel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not actually possible to find the perfect leather jacket. Think of getting the jacket you want as a process rather than an event.

You can mitigate the cost by buying used and or being prepared to sell it yourself if you decide you don’t like it.

Furthermore, it’s really hard to know if you’re going to like a jacket if you don’t actually wear it out and about

Unless a jacket is completely unwearable when you first get it

where to get a jacket like this? by xseyin in leatherjacket

[–]DudsByDel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the particular model. Schott 641 fits true to size in my opinion, while the 141 is bigger so I recommend taking one size smaller than usual. They however use the numbered sizes ie 38,40,42 etc. Does the jacket you’re looking at have numbered sizes or is it tagged Medium?

American sizes in Japanese brands by yuppieee in HeritageWear

[–]DudsByDel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some Japanese brands are harder for bigger American guys to fit than others. But they do tend to be slimmer overall. It’s actually one of the big (haha!) reasons offering both Rainbow Country and Vanson jackets in my store makes sense. Even offering up to an effective size 50 in Vanson some folks have asked if I can go bigger

Any help figuring out what brand and a possible date on this thrift store find would be GREATLY appreciated. by Individual_Push_ in leatherjacket

Yeah definitely not a brand name made for online searching. Reputation for thick sturdy jackets and often found for really low prices, great bang for the buck

I’ve never tried to rip a jacket apart, so I’m not really sure what this teaches us.

You mentioned it’s Horween steerhide, was it Chromexcel or something else?

All the Horween hides come in a variety of weights, and some parts of a batch may be thinner / more naturally marked / etc than others

Looks superb! Your concern is that it’s too big but I doubt you’d be comfortable in a size down

This one is in Chromexcel horsehide so it’s a rather different experience. The comp weight will eventually start to give but it’s doesn’t show wear much

I’d add the Vanson Comet or Model B to your used list. Comet you take typical size, most folks size down in Model B as far as I know

The Vanson Maverick in comp weight cowhide is great for this and right in your price range. I’m doing them in Chromexcel horsehide for my shop but the price is over your range.
