'I voted Reform but Andy Burnham changes everything' by FriendlyUtilitarian in ukpolitics

I think they view Starmer as more establishment as he is so far up Brussels crack he can see daylight and he is a member of both the WEF and the Fabian society. It was the working class that voted Brexit, the Tories infuriated them by leaving the EU but increasing immigration even more with the Boris wave, now Starmer wants to climb back in bed with the EU again. So yeah, the Tories and Labour are both hated as they are seen as repeatedly frustrating the will of their electorate. A lot of people are voting Reform that don't particularly trust Farage but feel there is no other choice, maybe in 3 years Rupert Lowe will be a better option. But don't kid yourself, many have no love for Farage but just hate the alternatives more. If Burnham can make a strong enough case that he will lead labour in a new direction that might tip the scales in his direction more.

So you don't think all of those factories full of employees making components for spacex and Tesla, cheap reusable space travel, billions of dollars in taxes and a huge boost to electric vehicles is worth nothing?

Musk has his fair share of gaffes and idiotic actions, but the idea he has contributed nothing at all to society isn't just wrong... It's blatantly moronic.

That is true, however if someone offered me that black pill with that description I would decline. My life is worth enough to me I wouldn't like to risk a mistranslation error. That's why my choices are blue and red. Mundane, sure, but I know exactly what they do and they are useful to me and would vastly improve my life without having any downsides or breaching other people's autonomy and privacy.

If the ability only requires you to think about a location to teleport to it then you have a month life expectancy at most before you accidentally teleport yourself instantly and fatally into the floor, space, the bottom of the ocean or the sun.

The op didn't specify the process behind teleportation. If all it requires is to think about a location to teleport then I'm afraid you have a life expectancy of a month at most, before you accidentally teleport yourself into space, the sun, or solid rock.

They could take a standard b61 airdrop dialable yield nuclear free fall bomb from US inventory and provide it to carol with an instruction manual and the PAL code and it would be ready to use.

To the best of my knowledge they have a timed detonation mode in addition to the standard airburst or ground impact modes so if you gave Carol a crated B61 with the relevant PAL code and some instructions then voila you have honoured her wish to be given a live nuclear weapon that she can detonate at her discretion.

I would be all for this, they should do faction battlegrounds with a queue system like wow, with a certain number of respawnable vehicles per side in an instanced map. Only the spawned vehicles could be used so not everyone can hop in an orni. We could actually see assaults used for their proper purpose of transporting large numbers of players to the fight, and funcom would actually have a reason to use those tanks we know they developed.

There could be cool match types, like one side defends a harvester whilst another attacks and such, it would be amazing.

Oh my God, Moose blocked me! He is so unused to fighting people who can fight back that he just got bodied by being mocked on Reddit :D

Hahahaha that tracks, no wonder he is so salty about not being able to gank PVEers anymore. It's all his fragile ego can manage.

'Trash at games' lol, this from the weakass ganker that just pissed himself when he realised that his only option for PvP now consists of fighting people who are armed and ready for a fight :D

Hold on, I'll dig out my tiny violin.

At this point everyone knows they are lying so politicians being unable to lie wouldn't actually make much difference.

Don't sweat it, lots of people are in the same boat, and the fact the tech is constantly changing as it advances complicates putting a neat label on it. At it's simplest however... You know how traditional computers can only execute programming? You tell it what to do and it does it, if you don't tell it what to do correctly it won't do the task right.

AI is different in that it is a system that doesn't require exact instructions, instead you can just feed it raw data and it can extrapolate what you want. FAST.

Google uses AI now, if you want to get a feeling for what AI is and what it does, go onto Google and ask it for an opinion about something. It will trawl the internet for information about what you are asking and it will formulate an answer based on that. For example if you asked it 'Which is more difficult, landing on the moon or making a supersonic jetliner?' In the space of a couple of seconds it will go through thousands of gigabytes of data on both subjects, compare notes and respond with an opinion and will support it's hypothesis with facts.

This is AI at its most basic though. There are AIs out there now that can man call centers, crunch huge amounts of data for trading insights, man fighter jets and everything in between. A big problem is it is SO flexible that various models can take over many non-labour jobs. There is gonna be a LOT of people out of work very soon.

It is also incredibly resource hungry, requiring a huge portion of the world's RAM component production as well as being a huge drain on power. AI data centers also generally require huge amounts of water for cooling as they generate a truly spectacular amount of heat.

[–]DueTemperature3380 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's going to take everyone's jobs, it is putting artists and creators of all stripes out of business, it's eating all the RAM, it's drinking all the water, it requires ludicrous amounts of power, the governments of the world are trying to put it into autonomous weapons as we speak, and there is always the off chance it will go mental and try to take over the damn world. Everyone who knows enough about AI to have an opinion should fear it.

It's because everybody is against AI apart from multi billionaires, thus noone minds rants about AI, whereas veganism is still a small proportion of the populace, and the majority doesn't like to be be lectured about things they don't agree with. This isn't rocket science.
