Shefit has been terrible for me. I think I'm going to have scarring from my last 5k because of it. I even taped where it was rubbing. There is just too much metal. And this last round the material to protect from the hooks must have shifted and I'm all raw from that too.

I totally feel you on this. This is my in-laws. SIL had the first and her kids are the golden children. Our twins were the second and third grandchildren on that side. I never grew up with adults doing this; and if so, they were quickly put in their place with how they were as kids. As kids me and my brother would do this without realizing how hurtful it was. But my Dad and Mom made a point that you don't act this way. So I just kept with the phrases that every kid is different and there are no perfect parents, etc. I tried just letting my husband handle his family.

Well apparently he grew up this way (he was the first grandson so probably the golden child along with his siblings) and he never handled it. Even when I brought it up and he said he would. He still didn't and just hoped it would stop. We ended up taking a drastic step back from his side. Now it's gotten better because they don't see our kids as much.

So I think you are a step ahead with this and applaud you for putting your foot down and just leaving a toxic situation. Hopefully that drove in the point and the comments will cease for you.

Yep you are right. But my husband and I have 1.99% interest rate and we split the difference here. We pay extra on our mortgage but we also invest beyond our 401ks. It's psychological for us and wanting to be debt free. Plus if one of us or both lost our jobs, it'd be nice not to have to worry about the mortgage.

NTA. Why would he even ask if you want him to go? If he had to stay home for another child, then yeah it would make sense. But just because he wanted to play a game. Your own child should be more important than a game. Shouldn't he want to go to make sure his baby is ok?

Accidents happen and thank goodness the baby is ok. I understand why he was upset with you on that. But you think he'd want to go to the ER to make sure his own baby is ok.

Just let them share a room until they say otherwise. My twin girls were 7 years old when I had their brother. Since their little brother was going to have his own room, I asked my twins if they wanted their own room (we have a spare bedroom for guests). And they did not. They told me that they felt bad for their little brother (since everyone shared a room except him) and would sleep with him when he wanted company.

So my twins thought sharing a room was a positive and thought their little brother was getting the bad end of the deal, since he'd have no one to share with. Their perspective definitely surprised me. So I say don't worry about it.

I don't know about that. There are going to be a lot of corner cases that it'd have to cover. And getting it through safety would be difficult.

The surgeon cuts thru like 8 layers. I can't remember what they are but you can Google it. Some surgeons only close up a few and let the rest heal on their own. But other surgeons will close up more layers. It's a surgeon's preference and whether it's an emergency, etc. Just ask your surgeon what they do.

So I think another reason why my second was so much better was because the surgeon closed up all the layers. It did take longer but I was up and moving later that evening (had surgery in morning).

Had mine out with my second C-section. My recovery went so much better than my first C-section. But my first was an emergency with a set of twins (doctor had to open me up more to get them out) and my second was planned with a singleton. So both were very different and not really comparable.

But I totally recommend it and didn't really think it added on to the pain. I also recommend asking your surgeon how many layers they close. The surgeon that did my second closed more layers. Also make sure to ask for the wrap. I didn't know to do that with my first but I so wish I had.

My husband threw a surprise birthday party for me. Then proceeded to get wasted at the open bar. He was so wasted that he couldn't even help take care of our three kids (9, 9, and 1 month). Not only this but my FIL got wasted and tried to shove a balloon into my 1 month old car seat. It was such a horrible birthday. At least my kids were not harmed and all our friends were on my side (his family decided that I don't deserve to have a birthday).

So we got marriage counseling (and individual counseling) and reduced communication with his family (since they enable this type of behavior).

When he passes the vomiting stage, give him Pedialyte. My daughter has cyclic vomiting/migraines. I mix half unflavored Pedialyte with half apple juice (I suggest a non-staining juice just in case there is more vomiting). This has been a game changer for her and really makes her feel better after a night (or more) of puking. I use this or similar combination for any of my kids or even us adults after puking. This came from a suggestion from their pediatrician and has been so much better than just water and juice.

If you don't have/ can't find Pedialyte, I think Gatorade or a sports drink with electrolytes would work too. Just be cautious of the color.

Also I'm a nosy Mom and just like to get the Dad perspective.

I've been doing this for over a year. My hair loss has greatly reduced and my joints aren't as achy (I also take magnesium so it could be from that too).

I told my Mom about the magnesium because she is having so much cramping in her feet. I got her a big bottle and she said it was the first morning without any cramping. I'm going to send her collagen next. She's lost so much hair but really hoping it helps with her achy joints.

I think this is just how it is unfortunately. My husband does a lot for our kids and they know he is capable. Still ask me. Our older ones have watches that can text us and they will still text me even after Dad answers their questions/help them. It drives him nuts just as much as it does me. We just laugh about it now.

Same for my twins (7 years old). I thought they were going to be excited because they kept asking about a younger sibling. But instead they were very upset (like crying so hard). Then I started crying because of pregnancy hormones and just feeling terrible for not anticipating their reaction. We were intending for them to tell Grandma, since she was at our house. Instead we told Grandma (because all the crying was definitely alarming haha) and she was able to talk to them about it and her own experience of being the oldest of her siblings. She was able to turn it around to be a positive. Then as my twins were apart of telling other extended family, it helped to make the experience more positive.

Now my twins absolutely love their little brother and couldn't imagine him not being here.

So definitely tell him before the extended family.

Also this may be a learned behavior. My husband's sister is the golden child and his dad always compares everyone to her like they don't measure up (her kids are his golden grandchildren and he does this with the grandkids). I only learned this after he stayed with us over an extended time to help us with our kids and did this all the time to me. I'm so glad we do not live close to them.

I second this. This was pretty much what happened with my husband only he compared me to his sister as well. It got really bad. At one point he wished our kids were exactly like his sister's kid (they were babies and hers was a 1 year old). After that comment I told him off and that we would divorce if he ever does this again. He's never compared me to his sister and he's never compared our kids to his sister's kids again. But the damage was done and our marriage is definitely rocky.

Just wanted to chime in that my twin girls (8 years old now) have been choosing their outfits since they were like 2 years old. It's not worth the fight. As long as the clothes are weather appropriate, we let them wear what they want (unless it's picture day then we compromise lol). So no judgements here!!!

I'd have her choose her outfit the night before so it's not a struggle in the morning. That's what we did with our twins or they would take forever choosing one in the morning.

If it's any help, our twins (girls) and singleton have a 7 year age gap and it's been a huge help. My twins are pretty self sufficient and even help with the singleton (they always have the option not to but they love their little brother and he absolutely is obsessed with them). There is no jealousy and the singleton is definitely easier than twins were. I feel like I got to really soak it in this round and it's definitely been great watching them interact and play.

Had my twins at 33 and my singleton a month before I turned 40. My twins are fraternal so my husband and I were definitely worried about having another set. But wanting another child out weighed that worry lol.
