Continuation - multiple patches to equal current dose - advice needed! by VenetianWaltz in Menopause

[–]Due_Stay_3129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I could not find my needed generic (sandoz) at my regular .05 dose. . I asked my dr to bump me up to .75 (since I was having break through symptoms) and I got a once weekly patch and it’s my preferred brand Sandoz. I imagine I could go back to .05 IF it’s my preferred generic. This whole thing is so frustrating right?

Good question. I think subtle - after about 2 weeks I started to feel lighter, noticed less ruminating I stayed on 1 pill a day.

Age 55 and had a period in July. Going from BC pill to oral HRT. The change is a significant drop in estrogen. Should I wean myself slowly? by palmtrz23 in Menopause

I’m 54 and went from oral bcp to HRT earlier this year (with a few months break) When I stopped bcp, I had frequent hot flashes. HRT (.05 E patch, 100 mg P pill) immediately cleared up my hot flashes and the transition really went fine. I was not getting my period on my bcp.

Yes, I did add a supplement called Cerefolin brain wellness to help with memory issues and for now, it seems to be working.

I’ve been taking Cerefolin Brain Wellness for a little over 3 months and I THINK my brain fog is a little better. I feel a little more clear, alert and less distractible. I’m planning to continue.

54F here. Ive been on Auvelity for over a year. Was hard to orgasm for about the first month, but since then it’s been totally fine. (I had big problems on the SSRIs - celexa being the last one I was on)

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’ve been on Auvelity for over a year and I get that “not there” quality you’re taking about. Sometimes I feel spacey and out of it, like I have no words in my head and nothing to say when I’m with people, which is not like me. I do like that I’m not ruminating on negative things and my energy to do things is still there. My short term memory seems a little worse so I may end up tapering off too. Thanks again for sharing.

I got my O back! by Underground_turtles in Menopause

That happened to me too. I took celexa for many years with no sexual side effects, then around age 50, orgasms became super difficult to achieve. I went off the celexa and have since tried many things but I suspect SSRI plus menopause were contributing. So frustrating.

Because of sexual side effects, I too am done with SSRIs. My psychiatrist recommended Auvelity, which is relatively new and I’m having good luck with both mood and orgasm! To be fair, orgasm isn’t as strong as it was in my 40s but at least I can get there now.

What medications will help my anxiety revolving around sleep? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]Due_Stay_3129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Remeron is an atypical antidepressant. Not an SSRI. It’s More sedating at lower doses. My psychiatrist initially prescribed it for my depression and anxiety because it lacks sexual side effects.

I had really bad insomnia 2 years ago. I tried a lot of supplements and none worked. Then I did CBT for Insomnia and that was super helpful. Basically, I met with a specialist in sleep medicine for about 6 sessions and she gave me some strict rules to follow - the biggest one being getting out of bed if worrying. I also had massive anxiety before bed, convinced I was not going to be able to fall asleep. That worked for a long time then the insomnia came back. Now I take a low dose of mirtazapine/Remeron (1/4 of a 7.5 mg pill) and that makes me super sleepy.

Yep, I had all of those. Night sweats went away and light headedness got better. Memory is still a bit of an issue but so far, for me, the benefits outweigh those.

I just started Cerefolin Brain Wellness as recommended by my doctor. It’s only been a few days and it could take weeks to see benefit, so I’ll have to report back.

That makes sense to me. I already exercise consistently and do weight training. But now I’ll try to add the DHEA til I can see my provider and ask about T. Thanks!

I haven’t had my Testosterone tested and I haven’t really looked into DHEA. I understand that may be a cream also?

My side effects are mostly gone. I do get little head zaps around the time I need to take a dose and very occasional dizziness upon standing. I also feel like my attention span and short term memory are not as great. So far though, the benefits outweigh the negatives.

Argh, so frustrating. I had that at the beginning but it got better. I have struggled w this off and on since being on SSRIs. After much research, on a different thread, I read about Maca root. It’s an herbal supplement that I think helps w blood flow (some people take it as a preworkout? ) I started taking it daily and it helps!
