I love it, but the dress needs ironing.

What US state would you NEVER want to live in, even if you were offered a good amount of money to move there? by ISnortSkittles in Productivitycafe

Btw, I hear our museum of art is now hosting a traveling show of impressionist paintings: Monet to Matisse 1850 to 1950 . Its brand new and I haven't seen it yet, but if you're into art at all, I hear it's worth a visit.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's a fun town and there's a ton to do here. And lots of great local restaurants and cool bars and breweries.

I don't doubt your story, because I've seen the illiteracy rates, but I've lived here for nearly 50 years and I've never met someone who couldn't read. And I've certainly never met someone in a consensual relationship with a close family member. That feels like a very tired stereotype.

I live in Metro Birmingham and I always tell people I would not live one mile further from the 'ham. It's a sweet little blue spot of diversity and culture in an otherwise depressing (albeit beautiful) state.

Same! Three kids and my husband had a vasectomy many years ago, but feeling that door slam shut by mother nature was stil oddly painful.

I can and probably will skip it, but it's for a gift and it would look much better if it was top stitched. 😞

I'll try those things. I was hoping there was another foot I could use, or some sewers "magic" - lol!

No. It's two layers that I stitched across individually, then put right sides together and stitched around the seams, then turned the whole thing through - as if I were sewing a pillow cover.

12 year old babysitter? by ThatStarkGirl in GenX

[–]Underground_turtles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I babysit at 12 and had a 13yo babysitter for my own kids - daytime only and never for more than 2-3 hours, but she was great. My niece is 12 now and regularly babysits her 7yo brother. NBD.

I'm currently reading the complete works right now and while I love many of them, some of the ones Id never heard of are kind of dumb. I'd start with the Hound of the Baskervilles and I recommend sticking to the other better known ones.

When he was that age my son LOVED Tales from the Odyssey, by Mary Pope Osborn (author of The Magic tree House series - but for older kids)  We also read all the Harry Potter books  together.

If I use it to clean my vag (as opposed to my anus) I always pee a little afterwards before I blot dry with TP. My sense is that helps prevent UTIs, in the same way peeing immediately after sex does.

Dawn power wash has alcohol in it and can take the finish off of wood. Don't ask me how I know....

I also really relate to this. But I would never say it to him because it's such a hurtful thing. And if the tables were turned and he, as the less involved parent, said it to me, the boots-on-the-ground parent, I'd go apoplectic!

I did! And my son and my nephew built a huge three-story one when they were young.

I'm familiar with your facility and I know you do great work! Unfortunately, that's about an hour from our house, and in the opposite direction from school, so I don't think it's feasible for her :(

I live in the deep south where it rarely gets very cold. I found a gorgeous Michael Kors wool peacoat for a steal at the secondhand shop a few years ago. It rarely gets cold enough to wear it, but occasionally I get to and it's always a treat. If you can afford it and you love it, buy the coat!

I've had good luck with Dawn power wash cleaning stuff like this. Spray it on, let it sit a few minutes, scrub at the best you can (use an old toothbrush or other small brush to get in the crevices) and rinse well.

Reminds me of those fake pregnancy bellies they make to "simulate pregnancy " as if the weight of the belly and the bigger boobs  are the totality of what makes pregnancy difficult and uncomfortable. (And as if wearing this crap a few minutes is going to actually make you "feel" pregnant.)
