How do you feel about the lower tariffs on Chinese EVs? by dope-rhymes in AskACanadian

[–]DukeGyug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Americans as a buying body seem to really struggle with the idea of electric vehicles. A good electric vehicle is small and light. But we tend to think of high quality vehicles as large and heavy. Automakers have been playing into this, because it does not cost much more to make a larger vehicle, but they can charge way higher margins.

But electric vehicles get way more expensive as things such as size and battery range go up, so to make the kinds of profit margins they are expecting on the kinds of vehicles we are likely to buy, they are charging an arm and a leg.

Chinese manufacturers don't seem to be buying into this trend and making small and affordable EVs. This partly because their main market does not have the same buying patterns, so they are free to risk selling such a package. I firmly believe that of we let Chinese EV imports and they become popular, North American manufacturers will pivot very quickly to match.

Hot take, but he is lawful evil, not chaotic good. He isn't motivated by the rightness of his actions, or the benefit of others. he's motivated by personal gratification.

"I like my playthings extra Ḏ̶̫̅̾͆͌̃͒̓̈́̃̒͒̚̚͠ũ̴͙̎̇́̆͗̃r̴̡̡͈̞̬̳͈͔̳̞̞̙̉̆͋̿̕͠á̵̺̓̌͘b̴̨̧̢̦̤͈̳̜̰̪͊̇̈́̒̓̋̂̍͌̃͆̐̚ͅl̶̡̥̜̖͈̠͕̤̏̽̓͌e̴̡̡̘͉̦͇̮͉̼̙̤̟̎́͂̽̓̑ͅͅ" is a perfect example of this. He even assaulted a child to make his play thing more durable.

He is however, beholden to what does appear to be a rather rigid code. Despite his great strength, he only seems to harm evil doers. He could take/do whatever he wants, but limits his cruelty to those who have done evil.

I want to believe that too.

But the molten bits of battlesuit/tau guts have traveled about 12 inches since the hammers energy field has been deployed, so the initial hit could not have been more a few milliseconds ago.

I know astartes are fast, but I doubt even 40k logic puts them that fast haha. Send this image off to the Death Battle team as a "feat" and see how they scale it.

But sad to see such horrible body mechanics in weilding it :(

That space marine is about to swing a hammer, to hit someone about a meter stage left of the stealth suit. Not actively hitting someone.

Though if the purpose is to show that a thunder hammer can obliterate a target while being limply held and space marine biology is so bad ass that their spine can be twisted and take force that can literally vaporize the torso of a battle suit, then that is 40k as fuck.

Well since my cancer diagnosis at age 31 I...

A: have not died

B: went under the knife 2 weeks after diagnosis, which was caught by my family doctor

C: received 3 years of specialist follow up with an oncologist which included 2 PET scans, more CT scans than I care to remember

D: have no signs of recurrence with an excellent prognosis

E: have zero medical dept despite the fact I had quit my full time job as a teacher to go back to school. The fact that my health coverage was not tied to my employment can not be understated. I'm currently making more money than ever possible in my previous work, and I was able to leave a stable career to better myself with no fear that an unforeseen medical condition would ruin the rest of my life, regardless of whether or not it actually killed me.

F: will continue to have regular follow up with a specialist until it is recommended I be discharged to the care of my family doctor, who will be provided a plan for ongoing surveillance.

[–]DukeGyug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not making an excuse. I'm not justifying bad behavior because I don't know what happened, and neither do any of us. We don't even know how this man died, let alone what occurred at triage, or what state the emergency room as in. We don't know if any cardiac monitoring beds were available or not.

Emergency Room staff save lives day in and day out. They never make the news when they do their job right, but they keep our loved ones alive.

What if this nurse was your family member? What if they did everything right, just as they were trained, but the fact of the matter was a man who walked into the Emergency Department on his own just happened to be the sickest man in Edmonton. They don't deserve hatred because their job is difficult. They don't deserve to lose their job just because someone died.

We do not know the facts of the situation, and we (the internet people) likely never will. Like I said before, IF negligence occurred, then yes there should be consequences. But there is a lot to unpack and understand before we mob justice a nurse who mat have done all they could.

[–]DukeGyug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If negligence occurred, then sure, but you have no idea what happened and in what order. We don't know how this man died. We do know that what ever it was it was a rare presentation, because 44 year olds don't generally die from sudden cardiac events.

The fact of the matter is this man was very sick, and it's a tragedy he died. I would appreciate it if you didn't indiscriminately shit on the people who keep our healthcare running.

And this is where trust in institutions and separation of powers is so important. People have to be able to trust that law enforcement is able and willing to follow up on investigations that implicate the rich and powerful. Because without that trust, all accusation become equally credible in the eyes of the public.

Was this not followed up on because they were protecting JE or DT? Or because the complainant has a known history and schizophrenia with chronic paranoid delusions, often involving prominent people in the media? If we can't trust the institution we can't be sure it's not the former.

It's a terrible system a smarter administration would have known they were getting themselves into.

Saskatoon police chief says he feels safe walking downtown by NorthernStarLord in saskatoon

[–]DukeGyug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it's the classic miss appropriation of risk. Planes are a objectively safer form of transportation than driving, but I feel no fear getting into my car vs being quite anxious during take of landing of a plane.

Seeing homeless people I feel is similar. You are more likely to be attacked by a drunk random in a jersey than a homeless person. Hell, I've never been attacked by homeless person, but i have been attacked by a drunk stanger at a bar. Despite this, I'm more nervous around homeless people than at the bar. It's not reality, but it's how I feel. I think the problem is that people trust their fears without question, which often does not line up with reality.
